Bin Laden started his war against America years ago
and we finally saw it on 9-11-01. It was not a tragedy - it was mass murder.
Terrorists attacked America several times and Bill Clinton did not lead.
America and her allies have now started our effort to eliminate the terrorists.
We are not seeking revenge... we are seeking victory.
The dangers of inaction are far, far greater.
In other words, the world will be a safer place with fewer terrorists.
Terrorists- Wanted: Dead or Alive!
Bill Clinton spent more taxpayer money and tried harder
to jail Bill Gates then he did to capture Bin Laden.
- AMERICA IS UNDER ATTACK -
Terrorists only understand force and strength...
we must take decisive action against those who have declared war against us.
Do we fight evil? Or do we let evil murder more Americans?
Have you seen the Palestinians dancing in the streets celebrating the American deaths!
Our enemies hate America and all of Western Civilization
because of our way of life, our freedom, and woman's equality.
The are going to attack us again and again, even if we do nothing.
Don't change the American way of life... change the terrorists.
We can make them dead. Defeat and eliminate the evil.
About 2,100 died at Pearl Harbor...
We have about 5,000 innocent Americans dead on 9-1-1?
This is not about JUSTICE, it's about WAR.
These think we are the great Satan. Terrorists want to kill all Americans - the only answer is to eliminate them first.
President Bush is carefully planning our mission to help insure victory with minimum American lives.
He won't attack an asprin factory.
W means War... war is the only way to catch the murders and to end terrorism.
President Bush wants total victory. Bombing an aspirin factory just encouraged evil.
It was okay to hate Hitler... so it's also ok to hate terrorists.
This a fight for freedom.
Chamberland tried to understand Hitler. Eventualy England realized they had to fight Nazi evil.
When we fought evil in Nazi Germany, we did not become Hitler.
Are the terrorists good or evil?
We don't care if the terrorists are brave or coward... they are evil! There were brave Nazis - so what.
Terrorist intend to attack and kill innocent civilians.
During war, we occasionally accidentally harm civilians.
After Thursday's speech - you know the real George W. Bush.
The best defense is a strong offense.
* * * Portrait in Failure
12/27/2001 - Updated 11:17 PM ET
While much of the media world's attention was focused Thursday on airing pieces of the latest videotape by Osama bin Laden, his words broadcast on Arab TV didn't cause much excitement.
In Pakistan, home of some of bin Laden's most ardent supporters, streets were quiet. Rather than rally the faithful, Maulana Fazal-ur Rehman, the leader of a fundamentalist political party there, spent his time denying that his followers were hiding bin Laden. Reactions were also muted in places where bin Laden's views hold sway, such as Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the Palestinian territories: no rallies, no new declarations of support from sympathetic clerics.
One reason for the collective silence is that the Arab world has other problems: tensions flaring between Pakistan and India, and Israel and the Palestinians struggling to stifle terrorism. But it is also clear that bin Laden's hero status is crumbling.
Appearing ashen and skeletal in his latest video, bin Laden is the picture of defeat. He has been unable to respond to the demolition of his terror network. And his credibility is in tatters.
"America has an indescribable hatred of Islam," he said in the new tape. "The people who have lived the last months under the continual American airstrikes, they know that very well." A telling accusation, except that Muslims around the world have already seen the opposite with their own eyes: Afghans celebrating in the streets after being freed of the Taliban; men rushing to re-established barbershops for a shave; and women showing their faces in public.
That's where bin Laden's latest propaganda ploy failed. Since bin Laden's last scripted videotape, the world has seen home movies of him laughing and smiling while he discussed the deaths of innocents.
And the public has been able to contrast that vile video to a real-life look at America's technological might working hand in glove with Afghanistan's own warriors to rid their country of al-Qaeda and the Taliban. People everywhere have this in common: They believe what they see. Of bin Laden, they've seen enough.
* * * War
I am deeply concerned that the United States will lose it's focus. War is not selective, it is indiscriminate. If we fight a war bent only on locating and killing the terrorists, trying to spare all innocent persons, we are in for a long, long battle which will take the lives of many American servicemen and women. War is a dirty, filthy job. We did not go looking for this fight, but we damned sure won't run away from it. We have to go after these people and if innocent people get in the way, it is the terrorists fault not ours. They were not discriminate in who they killed, why should we be? I truly hope that our leaders see this and don't worry about America coming out of this with it's hands squeaky clean. War is Hell !
* * * I have a very concerning scenario in my thoughts about this evil that just happened. I can not find an answer to calm my thoughts about it. while I am not a moslem, I have been raised as such and as a child and adolescent in Iran. therefore, certain comments would mean certain feelings or conveys a certain information, otherwise meaningless to someone else. Iran says they sealed there borders. to me that means, the terrorists that took over the country some 20 Ys ago, are harboring this evil man and his followers. JIHAD has a kind of an understanding amongst islamic that anything and everything would be OK whether it is or it is not a part of Koran's teaching. as such this is my scariest nightmare that I hope it would never happen.
Bin laden is carrying out his so called Jihad against US. in order to cause the absolutely most devastating damaging disaster and destruction , he plans his evil act " the mother of all", in such a way to ensure that the sleeping giant, US, would come after him, for sure! this act has to be so deadly and devastating and it can't just be another bombings like all others around the globe!, not one of those "usual acts of terrorism" that only ignites, a few political harsh comments, but one that would ensure mobilization of a great segments of the military and allied forces. he knows after this he and most if not all his followers are killed. so he plans, this time lingering process with afghani's to buy him more time to arrange for a further delay in continuation of his evil task. from here follow of the two scenarios below:
A-he has gathered and convinced some other people like him to detonate the Pakistan's A Bomb when most of the militaries of all kind are within the pakistani area to kill him and them all at the same time.
B-he somehow has one of the small missing A bombs with him, and when US forces are closest to him he would then activate the bomb, achieving his goal, going out in a climax of evil act never seen or acted by anyone.to the eyes of his fanatic followers he now goes to heaven and be remembered as the coming and gone of the last Imam expected by all moslems!!.
I am certain our intelligence has put all these into a their working formula and taken appropriate measures to safeguard against this frightening nightmare. but the thoughts as you can tell is extremely worrisome.
my idea to catch more of the terrorists is this: someone this evil and to this level committed, to carry on his "mother of all" evil deeds, would want to have not just proof of his act, but rather, to have it on visible records the details and nature of the way he carried his Jihad/and the way he did it! I am guessing and convinced in my heart! that there are a certain numbers of people that were set up, even professionally, to video this disaster from many angels. many views, and even somehow recording them from within to show the agony of dying and destruction as it happened within those minutes. If I was government! I would silently search for, "bid for" and any videos from the disaster at the WTC that anyone may have for sale! and may be through this tactic you can catch more of these malignant evils of the world and to find more insight into their circuit of terrorism.
and at the end I hope that our government has made a detailed enough resolution to the act of terrorism, in such a way that would encompass, terrors by gangs, drug trafficking and any act of killing that would come as a result of a direct terror caused by one individual unto another, and etc. may be that it took the lives of some many thousands of innocent people to wake us and our government up so that we do something constructive about our fading freedom in our free society. people must realize, that to enjoy life and prosper in a free society, at times, one must be prepared to pay a price, one that is very expensive! i.e., expenditure of lives in the battle field in order to ensure continuity of freedom in our free society.
sincerely

* * * Please read this, and get this idea into the hands of people who can place it on the table as an option as soon as possible
This sounds strange, but please bear with me. When I was a Cub Scout Leader I had a one boy that would perpetually be the bad apple, ruin the game, the event, with his troubled attitude. But he did so in a strange way, I could never catch him in his offenses because he always perpetrated them against innocent members of the group in group situations when my attention was elsewhere. When confronted with he would always maintain his innocence, refuse to sit-out ,and continue to play and disrupt. I concluded that what this child was really after was power.
On evening, while he was intent on ruining a basketball game for all the other children, and consequently bring attention to himself it suddenly occurred to me that I didn't have to remove this bad child from the group. That there was another option.
I could remove the group from this child. I slowly called the other children over one by one until the boy was left by himself on the court leaving him alone, defenseless and vulnerable, fully exposed and powerless. He was no longer able to hide and act out within a group of innocent children, because the group had been removed. Game over.
This is what we should do in Afghanistan. We don't have to remove Bin Laden from the innocent people. We need to remove the innocent people from Bin Laden We can do this by securing a sanctuary called Kabul (or someplace safe), open up a protected Corridor of Peace and announce all over Afghanistan to begin an exodus within their own country to this sanctuary (they are on an uncontrollable exodus fleeing to Pakistan anyway.)
This exodus to Kabul by innocent and peace loving Muslims, and the overseeing of this exodus and the sanctuary can be administrated by Muslims from every Muslim country. We could register people as they came into the sanctuary. There could be world welfare agencies, and present to receive and administer aid to these people.
This would separate the wheat from the chaff, the guilty from the innocent. This would preserve innocent life, send the message that we care about the Islam faith and the Arab people. This would save both Afghanistan and Pakistan and keep us from turning into terrorists. And this would put Ben Laden in and exposed vulnerable position
Once secured and established this Sanctuary and Corridor of Peace would give our Arab friends away to support and protect their people and beliefs. No longer could Arabs see us as malevolent or anti Islam in our intent.
We don't have to remove this guy form the group, But we can give the group the opportunity to remove themselves from this guy.Do for Afghanistan what we did for Europe after WWII. BUT BEFORE THE WAR. Make a sanctuary for innocent Muslims before we attack. Establishing a peace corridor and sanctuary for all innocent people will dispel hate here and abroad. Consider the great on-going implications of this. We can save ourselves by saving the innocent among us.Call the innocent out of the land. They will come. The guilty will hide. Please put this in front of the highest officials you know, as quickly as you can. Be my voice.

* * * Yesterday was my 33rd birthday. Unfortunately, no one in America will forget Sept 11, 2001. I woke slightly depressed knowing that I was well into my thirties, not 18 any longer.
I was born too late to have personally felt the impact of Vietnam and while the Persian Gulf conflict remains fresh in my mind, even now I am most frustrated that we did not refer to it as war and that we did not finish the job we started. I remember vividly saying, we will have to worry about these groups/countries in the future.
War is a terrible thing, there is no argument, however, based on every definition available, an attack of war is what happened yesterday. We can not play at war. For the United States not to condemn this action and call say we are at war would be most damaging to the American psyche We mist act with equally devastating power and timing would be criminal and put us again in a reactive, rather than proactive status. Our present situation did not come about over night nor will it be repaired overnight, however it is my prayer that my four young sons are protected and proud Americans.
For too long our military has been diminished, both in numbers of persons and morale. Shame on us for not demanding our leadership maintain our defense, intelligence, and national morale for our lack of prioritization and acceptance of the risks at which we are have cost us dearly. God bless the families of victims during their time of grief and God Bless America.

* * * There is no question that a highly effective way to stop the man is through his wallet and if we can stop the funding flow, it will slow it down. There is also no question that we need to put our money into human intelligence because no matter what security restrictions we put into place, we cannot stop madmen when they are striking. We must stop them in advance requiring infiltration and advance notice. Showing the world that this cannot be done and go unpunished is also necessary whether that means blowing up all known locations of his operations as well as key defense/strategic locations of the harboring countries (or whatever most quickly attacks the Achilles heel as determined by those able to see the situation from a broader periscope than mine.) There is no one right answer, we would be best served to adopt a multi-pronged approach.
Thanks,
Angie
* * * We now once again reap the bitter crop of appeasement and fawning over world opinion. This has been a very long time in coming and our politicians have been grossly and culpably negligent by not doing something sooner. Ex-Governor Coumo of New York, for example opined that the solution was to understand why these people have so much hatred for us that they would do such a thing. He said that if we understood why they hated us so much, then we could address those problems. No doubt, he must mean that Hitlers Germany should have been given "lebensraum" in the East and that Japan should have been given the "Greater East Asian Co-prosperity Sphere"I do agree that they hate us so much that they will do drastic things. However no amount of Jimmy Carters understanding or Bill Clintons feeling of their pain is going to make them stop hating us. The only lasting solution, is to reduce them to the level of Japan and Germany in 1945, with an occupying power and a new friendly government in place.
Sen. Dodd now crows about saying that he was right all along by fighting antimissile defense because we were vulnerable to a less sophisticated threat. That swine is singing partisan Democratic propaganda by spouting a liberal theme in order to gain victory in the next presidential election. He misses the point that an ABM system takes a long time to install and apparently wants to delay doing so until our enemies have the ability to inflict a monumental disaster on us. We are surely lucky that nerve gas or biological disease agents were not used in conjunction with yesterdays attacks. At least for a few days the media is focused on something important.

* * * It would be a very dangerous error to believe that these terrorists are that much different from ourselves. We are motivated and intellegent people empowered by a system of belief called freedom. These terrorists are no less empowered or motivated through a different form of belief. It is important to remember then, that just because we live in the U.S. and are empowered with freedom, that other ways of thought must then be frail and powerless.
Our freedom was not simply plucked from the hand of the weak, but wrestled from a hands of steel. Hands forged in the fires of an apposing belief. We should never forget that this freedom we have was the prize for standing up and fighting a strong opponent.
Freedom is the current and reigning champion of the world, but be not deceived; challengers will rise. Strong Challengers who wish to take our prize belt of Liberty.
Therefore, let us not forget the sacrifice our forefathers, the cost of freedom, and the necessity to fight. Lets us find the face for this mysterious fighter, who stands in the shadows of cowardice. Let us face him, and prevail. Let us sound the bells of liberty. Then, let us once again lay hold of and claim our current and rightful title as " The Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave.
"God Bless Us All,

* * * WHOEVER PLANNED THIS ALSO CALCULATED THE RESPONSE WE WILL GIVE. I find it unconceivable that people are being led again by the media's pointing fingers, demanding war and using this horrible disaster to manipulate the people's emotion to the brink.
After years of listening to you, people should pick up on the themes, similar wording patterns, and constant rhetoric all pointing to a war. It is clear they want a war with Islam peoples and put all of the blame immediately on only one evil person/group Usama Bin Laden. They are pushing for the world to be united in the reaction as one. Without God's intervention, it is planned to lead to World War III or a long protracted religious war. Either way we all lose. Let's do this right!
Isn't this the same thing for which the media is famous, running, controlling, and manipulating people's emotions toward a set agenda? Count the number of times the world war is suggested, getting as many countries involved as possible, who we are to blame, and a QUICK KNEE JERK REACTION. They are badgering the experts to change opinions and get them to only blame this evil man. They don't let people state, reason, or interject other views, only the newscasters view is acceptable. They argue with the consultants that are looking at a bigger picture. Nothing has changed. They know what is best, and anyone who disagree with their core beliefs even during a disaster, Pres. Bush, is discounted.
If we go to war on emotion, we are falling into our enemies plan. WHOEVER PLANNED THIS ALSO CALCULATED THE RESPONSE WE WILL GIVE. What better than to destroy our resources, youth, economy, and way of life than to start a third world war that has been planned for years - pitting Islam against everyone. Most of these 'so called' religious wars are a front and not for religious reasons. They are planned and guided by a group of evil people, elitist, who believe they know what is best for everyone. We are to be their so called slaves as they know what is best for us to eat, spend, drive...
Changing the priority of our schools toward socialism, taking away our rights piece by piece. Only by breaking the people of the world's will with wars, famines, and death can they rise to the top to take rule. We must pray to the one true Almighty God for Godly wisdom, truth, insight, and guidance on how to stop the Illuminati plans.
I believe God's justice must prevail. I believe consequences must be forthcoming! WE SHOULD RESPOND WISELY, NOT REACT. There are enemies of freedom operating in our own United States, Europe, and the Middle East. I believe justice should be given to the total guilty group, not just their stooges, Usama Bin Laden, Iran, Syria, Afghanistan, Sudan and China or who ever. If we let emotion rule and not logic we are pawns in the enemies scheme to destroy everyone.

* * * Random thoughts
1. We can't just pull out of the MidEast. Our strategic interests/dependence on foreign oil depend on our presence. We also can not afford to turn tail and run away; this is what the terrorists want, and once they got that they would pursue us for more....revenge, bringing down the Great Satan, etc. When are the democrats gonna' get it? You know, domestic sources, as in Alaska, etc.
2. We should not assume that all Muslims are like the Jihad. There is a very big difference, just like the difference in law-abiding Methodists or Baptists and some so-far-right-they're coming back around from the left (or vice versa) splinter group of Christians that mainstream Christians would agree are wrong, mis-guided, unscriptural, etc. Rush, please have your crack staff research what mainstream Muslims believe, and do they believe in the Jihad's tenets and the ultimate martyrdom/suicide.
3. I believe Sadam Hussein is behind this in a big way, if only in support of bin Laden. This is his attempt to get revenge for Bush 41 humiliating him.
4. I agree with comments that Clinton is largely to blame for these recent events. Bush will undoubtedly take the heat, sooner or later, from the liberals, whom themselves know better, but it will fuel their propaganda machine. It takes a long time to re-build the intelligence and security communities' capabilities after so many years of abuse by a self-serving president.
5. I do not believe that it takes huge sums of money to pull off this act. It requires coordination, planning, a little ingenuity, training (no doubt their are lots of terrorist secrets/tactics to share-that's not hard and requires little more than a smoky room think tank; the hardest part is flight training, and that's not that hard to come by either, by the right people). I believe people of the right frame of mind, with a little research and minimal funding could have accomplished this. Bin Laden (or whomever) did not have to fund it with mega-bucks; a little seed money to get a couple of self-perpetuating cells going and the right twisted frame of mind-also self-perpetuating-as in proselitizing, could have pulled it off. At least up to now. Hopefully we are about to correct that by getting rid of these people who have infiltrated our country-and while we're at it, why not all of them, from all countries, without proper sponsorship and legitimate business in or contribution to our society?
6. Peter Jennings is not only an idiot, he is treasonous! Dan Rather, Tom Brokaw, the organizations they represent, et.al. are right behind him.
7. Final analysis: justice? Of course, but targeted specifically at the perps and their aiders/abettors. Indiscriminate attacks, foreign or domestic, on Near and Middle easterners, Muslims, etc. will drive the few moderates further away.
8. But you must read the Book to see how this is going to end. The script is being played out exactly as the Bible predicted. No, we do not know the date or time, or even how or what exactly each act will look like. But it is happening, and I fully believe we have turned the next to last corner. (The last corner is when the cornerstone of the Temple is replaced.) We might as well fully engage, because we can't change it (even though we do not have the authority to intentionally hasten it). So we all have to decide; do we want to be on the side that is really going to win, or the side we think can win from a secular perspective? Choose carefully!
9. The forces of evil are emerging as distinctly as black and white. Clinton played a large role in defining that emergence. There are many dupes who are blindly following, but unfortunately even those of us who think we are on the right side/opposite of what is obviously evil, still fall short. There is only one way to be on the winning side, through Jesus Christ. Events in the near future are going to get very ugly, and in the end only His army will be left standing.
10. By the way, how convenient that Bubba's office in Manhattan wasn't politically correct! Let's see, I wonder who tipped him off? (Could it be.....Satan?)

* * * 1) I happened to glance at one of the crawls running across the bottom of the screen. It said, "President Bush wants to spend Billions of dollars on a defense shield that would been useless in yesterday's attack. Hell! F-16's. battleships, or aircraft carriers wouldn't have helped in this case. Does that mean we should discard all that hardware? The media is SO VERY STUPID.
They're obviously not tacticians. What idiot would place the entire Governmental heirarchy in one location when you're under attack?
2) In spite of his wealth, Bin Lodan (spelling?) has never been overly successful in previous attempts. He had help.
3) One that offers encouragement to this mess is the crash in Pittsburg. There were some brave sould about that ship who realized they were about to die. Their last act of courage was to prevent the plane from reaching it's target.
4) We should have wiped out Saddam Husein in 92, but social weakness from within and some dissent from the NATO group made Bush Sr. back off. The thing that burns me is the we haven't fought any war since WWII with the intent of winning. If you're gonna fight a war, FINISH THE ENEMY OFF AND THEN YOU WON'T HAVE TO FIGHT HIM AGAIN.

* * * Larry Boswell
Mr Bush and Vice-President Dick Cheney realise...[that the war]...must be carefully planned, be precise and have a clear objective. It must be fought with air power, with soldiers in remote and hostile lands, with diplomacy, threats and economic muscle. Donald Rumsfeld, the defence secretary, said on Friday that this was "a new battlefield" and "a different kind of conflict". And just because it is fought by unconventional means does not make it less bloody. More Americans died in a couple of hours on Tuesday than at Pearl Harbor or Omaha beach. Let us not forget, too, that perhaps more Britons were killed in the twin towers (the final death toll is not yet known) than at any time since the second world war......But the reality is that America is at war, and the enemy has to be killed or be captured. Host states have to be forced to end support for terrorism. Appeasement will only bring more death. With a few voices already being raised in Britain against America, the West must remain united. A war will inevitably provoke retaliation, maybe from suicide bombers attacking Britain. We must all fear their search for weapons of mass destruction. But there is one truism when faced by such an enemy: the hawks are the true peacemakers.
* * * The first question is "...when will the war end?" The answer is when the three things happen:
* The financial links to the fanatics are broken, principally States of Iraq, Yemen, Pakistan, Libya and Northern Sudan, and to a lesser extent, groups within Saudi Arabia, Aden, Iran and Syria.
* When the chemical, biological and nuclear threat is removed. Nuclear threats are in Iraq & Pakistan. Chemical & biological threats are principally from Northern Sudan and Iraq.
* When the fanatic "cells" located trans-equatorially and in Europe and North America are destroyed or reduced to insignificance. You can expect 'raids' in Indonesia, Philippines, the Indian Ocean nations, North Africa, and Southern and Western Asia. The Northern Sudan is the sleeper. It is one of the few Moslem nations with wide open borders (no passport requirements), and a standing, trained army of 15-25,000 of Bin Laden's followers. Up until Bin Laden was asked to leave in 1996 from U.S. diplomatic pressure, Sudan was his main training and recruiting mecca. His army remains. The middle class has long since fled the Sudan, and the fanatics are financed by oil revenues from the Talisman Oil Co., et al, a Canadian firm operating in a no-man's land that once was the Southern Sudan. Their fanatical presence in the Sudan has cost between two and three million lives already. This is a war that will be measured in years! The mere capture or death of Bin Laden or Sadam Hussein will not destroy the terrorist infrastructure.
The second broad question is "...who's fault is it?"
The answer is both ours and theirs! On one level, the advanced nations built the weapons, educated the scientists, and created the biological weapons. Anthrax and smallpox virus sales were LEGAL and unlicensed in the U.S.A. until a few years ago to any 'European' firm that called themselves a biotech company! The Russian Mafia has been selling enriched uranium & plutonium to the highest bidder. The former Soviet nuclear scientists has been taking jobs world-wide, including the fanatic's sponsor nations. Other technologies have come to the fanatics via France, Germany, Taiwan, Indonesia, North Korea and Japan.
Free men everywhere have been complacent about their responsibilities as free citizens. I doubt that one week ago one person in ten knew who the Talibans were! How many people subscribe to only one newspaper, or indeed, any at all? How many people bother to vote? How many people let their election votes be determined by a single local paper or fad TV personalities or mere party lines? How many people are so focused on a single issue (to the exclusion of all others) that they exclude those issues that threaten our very freedom? How many people have even bothered to learn about their enemy by doing a simple web search, most information of which pre-dates the attacks in New York and Washington? And how many people, in their uncaring bliss, have NOT bothered to listen by the informational news programs on TV that have been outlining these threats for years? Our complacency as free citizens bear the major responsibility, a complacency that now threatens our very existence.
There will always be those individuals who lack the common sense or values to know when they have to fight to preserve the freedoms they take for granted. The difference between this conflict and the Viet Nam War is that there is a near unanimous resolve, and the price of inaction is eventual epidemics and mass losses of life that will numerically trivialize the losses suffered this past week. If the war is fought by the military, and the politicians do not start approving individual missions (as they did in Viet Nam) with a policy of 'measured' military responses, then we will eventually succeed as we did in Iraq.
On another level, the rogue fanatics and their supporters have misinterpreted our diplomacy, limited military responses, slowness to anger, and our open society as weaknesses. That is a mistake that they are soon to regret through our terrible resolve.
Thank you again for the kind words. My eyes teared up repeatedly this past week watching freedom loving people bleed. I have attached a couple of links for your convenience that discuss the Sudan situation.

* * * To all the "peace advocates" out there, President Bush did actually give peace a chance. He told Pakistan and Afghanistan to give up bin Laden, "or else". They chose "or else".
In the vein of "Remember the Alamo", I feel that America needs a battle cry of "Remember the WTC" to sustain it through the coming battle against terrorism.

* * * Rally the Next Generation
We are a military family. We are patriotic. Our grandchildren spent their day off from elementary school yesterday selling ice tea and lemonade and raised $102 for the Red Cross. But, how many others are just plain "confused." Some of their parents are confused too, they acted against us when we sent our proud Marine aviator to Viet Nam forthree one-year tours.
As a child of WW II, I loved collecting my bond stamps, licking them and putting them in my folder until I had enough for a War bond. Lets do that again. It will give the generation that is inheriting this horrible blight, a foundation of patriotism and financial understanding that they do not have and that they will need. We don't have to call them war bonds. Let's call them EAGLE bonds. The flight of the Eagle will never be stopped. Proud Gammie.
* * * To whom it may concern,
I listened to some discussion today regarding the airline bailout proposal and I am convinced it is a necessary approach to take, in the short term.
However, I believe America should go one step further and attempt additional stimulus and corrective activities prior or in concert to, as referenced by Mr. Greenspan's comments to have congress watch the economic trends over coming weeks before deciding which actions are mostappropriate.
The true spirit of our culture is an entrepreneurial and creativeculture driven by the rewards of capitalism and pride. Our political leaders could take one simple step immediately that would have a tremendous impact on the depressed atmosphere surrounding our airline industry. It just this simple.
I recommend immediately to have each congress person and each senator and each cabinet member travel via our commercial airlines and highly publicize it to rebuild consumer confidence. This would have the effect of truly adding security measures that are lasting and meaningful to protect our citizens. Personally, I would not question the safety of flying routes that are traversed by our political officials and they would not settle for anything less than "real security".
If this country is going to achieve greatness and assume it's role as the world leader quickly, we must think in terms of immediate return on investment and nimble creativity being our most effective weapons.
Food for thought?

* * * Dear Rush, I am writing you to vent a little. I am upset that our government is trying so hard to be viewed by the world as a compassionate country ( feeding the Afghan people), while these dirty Taliban guys in Afghanistan are planning the demise of our country. I don't think these people deserve the lives of our men and women. I think our government should use tactical nukes to take them out and make an example to the rest of the world. I am concerned that a protracted campaign will cost us the same way the cold war ended up costing the Russians. (Maybe I am wrong buts its what I think.)
We have entered into a new time and nothing will ever be the same again. I don't think we have time for tactics that are going to only be used by our enemies in the end. I think our government needs to act decisively if we are to remain a superpower. If we don't leave the political correctness behind and round up the people that fit the profile of involvement, we are only setting our county up for the next attack.
Thanks for letting me get this of my chest, I feel better.
Sincerely, Clark
* * * Deport Sleeper Terrorists
An attack on our country requires drastic prevention measures. In addition to our overseas action, we should deport (and deny future entry) every Arab "that fits a terrorist profile" who entered our country since about 1992 when Osama started his terrorist training, including those who become US citizens. We can pass Profile Deportation Laws that would make this legal. We must get rid of these suicidal fanatics that are determined to cripple our country even if innocent Arab people are included. Considering what's at stake, why take the risk? We must stop being nice and get tough, it's now a matter of survival! How many more catastrophes must occur before the liberals realize we must do something that will have an immediate effective result? Or do we just wait until these people eliminate themselves by being martyrs while they cripple our country and kill thousands or possibly millions? Don't the liberals realize they want to do more than terrorize us, they want to eliminate us? We need to come up with a new word that accurately describes their true mission, maybe "Annihilators" would be appropriate.

* * * Rush, I recently heard your story of the supposed mid-level bin laden associate whom supposedly infiltrated the U.S. Army Green Berets. As a former Green Beret who left the military in 1999 I will concur with one of your previous callers Greg, who stated that there is no way this could occur. Occasionally foreign officers are allowed to attend a portion of the training, however they are not privy to any classified material such as communications techniques, planning etc .. and it's made perfectly clear to all Special Forces trainees that sensitive information will not be divulged to these foreign officers. As far as this guy receiving a certificate with a Green Beret on it, this is a standard courtesy which gives the individual something of a souvenir. They are not awarded the Green Beret nor or they given the Special Forces Tab. Thanks for your time,

* * * Media verses the Military
Sorry I couldn't respond or agree in a timely manner about your topic on the media the other day. The American press agencies kill me with their arrogance. The pubilc they feed this info to are equally annoying. Who the hell are these liberal pansies who think they are entitled to know what I, my fellow operators and our superiors in the military are doing to vanquish this new form of enemy? No reporter or member of the media has the right to violate operational security. No one but those soldiers involved in the operations of this war need to know what is going on. The American public has no need or right to have access to the information of what our special operations forces are doing. As far as I and the rest of the operators in the military are concerned, the public's interest is irrelevant and should be dismissed. They don't need to know what is going on in the combat zone. That information is for the US military, not the enemy watching the liberal American news broadcasts.
By the way, we sure as hell don't need some elitist, nit-wit, left-wing, politically correct, holier-than-thou journalist making sure we "behave" on the battle field. I have news for you, in war it's best to be at your worst behavior. Bomber pilots kill people on the ground by dropping explosives on them from far away. Soldiers, especially special ops guys, do it face-to-face in what is most likely called "inhumane" ways in the eyes of the liberal left. If that is what these folks call "misbehaving" what do they actually think they are going to do about it? Tell on us? Send a bad report card home to our parents? How about this-Finding their collective asses on the helicopter pick-up zone after a mission is completed to be left behind for the Taliban reaction forces to play with?
The First Ammendment doesn't grant violating national security or force the military to give out information to the public. As I see it, the military is exercising its First Ammendment right-not to speak. The media, above all, has no choice but to respect that right. The media and the public are just going to have to suck it up and deal with not knowing what is going on with our troops in this new kind of war. The American public's misconception that they have the right to know everything is going to get many of my fellow operators killed. To me that is just as bad if not worse than some ungrateful, dirt-bag protester burning my nation's flag.
Dittos, Patrick
* * * For your information, the Reuters' newspaper article is misleading:
The program the article referenced is a Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) issued by the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics.
Under a Broad Agency Announcement (a typical method for the US Government to contact potential sources of goods and services) the US Government states a need(s) and asks for industry (not every US Citizen) to propose a program to develop a device or provide a service that meets the advertised need(s).
For your information, you can download the Broad Agency Announcement at www.bids.tswg.gov <http://www.bids.tswg.gov> . It is Broad Agency Announcement 02-Q-4655
BAAs are issued every day. I run a small business that provides goods and services to the US Government and I respond to 4 or 5 of these types of announcements every year.
Broad Agency Announcements are typically used when the US Government does not want to restrict the possible solutions contractors can submit. BAAs are a wonderful example of capitalism at work to benefit everyone.
So, it must have been a slow news day to force the reporter to review upcoming US Government procurements....I know that similar programs were announced earlier at the Department of Transportation, but Rueters missed that one, and there were probably others.

: Winning in Afghanistan - long but interesting. The following was written by a West Point graduate who has spent considerable time in Afghanistan and wanted to advise his classmates what it would take to win should we initiate a ground war using opposition forces to the Taliban. It's overly long, but he makes a number of excellent points.
CLASSMATES:
Many of you are probably not aware that I was one of the last American citizens to have spent a great deal of time in Afghanistan. I was first there in 1993, providing relief and assistance to refugees along the Tajik border, and in this capacity have traveled all along the border region between the two countries.
In 1998 and 1999, I was the Deputy Program Manager for the UN's mine action program in Afghanistan. This program is the largest civilian employer in the country with over 5,000 persons clearing mines and UXO. In this later capacity, I was somewhat ironically engaged in a "Holy War," as decreed by the Taliban, against the evil of land mines; and by a special proclamation of Mullah Omar, all those who might have died in this effort were considered to be "martyrs"-even an "infidel" like myself. The mine action program is the most respected relief effort in the country, and because of this I had the opportunity to travel extensively without too much interference or restriction. I still have extensive contacts in the area and among the Afghan community and read a great deal on the subject.
I had wanted to write earlier and share some of my perspectives, but quite frankly, I have been a bit too popular in DC this past week and have not had time. Dr. Tony Kern's comments were excellent and I would like to use them as a basis for sharing some observations.
First, he is absolutely correct. This war is about will, resolve and character. I want to touch on that later, but first I want to share some comments about our "enemy." Our enemy is not the people of Afghanistan. The country is devastated beyond what most of us can imagine. The vast majority of the people live day-to-day, hand-to-mouth in abject conditions of poverty, misery and deprivation. Less than 30% of the men are literate, the women even less.
The country is exhausted, and desperately wants something like peace. They know very little of the world at large, and have no access to information or knowledge that would counter what they are being told by the Taliban. They have nothing left, nothing that is except for their pride.
Who is our enemy? Well, our enemy is a group of non-Afghans, often referred to by the Afghans as "Arabs" and a fanatical group of religious leaders and their military cohort, the Taliban. The non-Afghan contingent came from all over the Islamic world to fight in the war against the Russians. Many came
using a covert network created with assistance by our own government.
OBL (as Osama bin Laden was referred to by us in the country at the time) restored this network to bring in more fighters, this time to support the Taliban in their civil war against the former Mujehdeen. Over time, this military support along with financial support has allowed OBL and his "Arabs" to co-opt significant government activities and leaders. OBL is the "inspector general" of Taliban armed forces; his bodyguards protect senior Talib leaders and he has built a system of deep bunkers for the Taliban, which were designed to withstand cruise missile strikes (hmm, where did he learn to do that?). His forces basically rule the southern city of Kandahar.
This high-profile presence of OBL and his "Arabs" has, in the last 2 years or so, started to generate a great deal of resentment on the part of the local Afghans. At the same time, the legitimacy of the Taliban regime has started to decrease as it has failed to end the war, as local humanitarian conditions have worsened and as "cultural" restrictions have become even harsher.
It is my assessment that most Afghans no longer support the Taliban. Indeed the Taliban have recently had a very difficult time getting recruits for their forces and have had to rely more and more on non-Afghans, either from Pushtun tribes in Pakistan or from OBL. OBL and the Taliban, absent any US action, were probably on their way to sharing the same fate that all other outsiders and outside doctrines have experienced in Afghanistan - defeat and dismemberment.
During the Afghan war with the Soviets, much attention was paid to the martial prowess of the Afghans. We were all at West Point at the time, and most of us had high-minded idealistic thoughts about how we would all want to go help the brave "freedom fighters" in their struggle against the Soviets. Those concepts were naive to the extreme. The Afghans, while never conquered as a nation, are not invincible in battle. A "good" Afghan battle is one that makes a lot of noise and light. Basic military skills are rudimentary and clouded by cultural constraints that no matter what, a warrior should never lose his honor. Indeed, firing from the prone is considered distasteful (but still done). Traditionally, the Afghan order of battle is very feudal in nature, with fighters owing allegiance to a "commander," and this person owing allegiance upwards and so on and so on.
Often such allegiance is secured by payment. And while the Taliban forces have changed this somewhat, many of the units in the Taliban army are there because they are being paid to be there. All such groups have very strong loyalties along ethnic and tribal lines. Again, the concept of having a place of "honor" and "respect" is of paramount importance and blood feuds between families and tribes can last for generations over a perceived or actual slight. That is one reason why there were 7 groups of Mujehdeen fighting the Russians. It is a very difficult task to form and keep united a large bunch of Afghans into a military formation. The "real" stories that have come out of the war against the Soviets are very enlightening and a lot different from our fantastic visions as cadets.
When the first batch of Stingers came in and were given to one Mujehdeen group, another group-supposedly on the same side-attacked the first group and stole the Stingers, not so much because they wanted to use them, but because having them was a matter of prestige. Many larger coordinated attacks that advisers tried to conduct failed when all the various Afghan fighting groups would give up their assigned tasks (such as blocking or over watch) and instead would join the assault group in order to seek glory. In comparison to Vietnam, the intensity of combat and the rate of fatalities were lower for all involved.
As you can tell from above, it is my assessment that these guys are not THAT good in a purely military sense and the "Arabs" probably even less so than the Afghans. So why is it that they have never been conquered? It goes back to Dr. Kern's point about will. During their history, the only events that have managed to form any semblance of unity among the Afghans, is the desire to fight foreign invaders. And in doing this, the Afghans have been fanatical. The Afghans' greatest military strength is the ability to
endure hardships that would, in all probability, kill most Americans and enervate the resolve of all but the most elite military units.
The physical difficulties of fighting in Afghanistan, the terrain, the weather, and the harshness are all weapons that our enemies will use to their advantage and use well. (NOTE: For you military planner types and armchair generals: around November 1st, most road movement is impossible, in part because all the roads used by the Russians have been destroyed and air movement will be problematic at best). Also, those fighting us are not afraid to fight. OBL and others do not think the US has the will or the stomach for a fight. Indeed after the absolutely inane missile strikes of 1998, the overwhelming consensus was that we were cowards who would not risk one life in face-to-face combat.
Rather than demonstrating our might and acting as a deterrent, that action and others of the not so recent past, have reinforced the perception that the US does not have any "will" and that we are morally and spiritually corrupt. Our challenge is to play to the weaknesses of our enemy, notably their propensity for internal struggles, the distrust between the extremists/Arabs and the majority of Afghans, their limited ability to fight coordinated battles, and their lack of external support. More importantly through is that we have to take steps not to play to their strengths, which would be to unite the entire population against us by increasing their suffering or killing innocents, to get bogged down trying to hold terrain, or to get into a battle of attrition chasing up and down mountain valleys.
I have been asked how I would fight the war. This is a big question and well beyond my pay grade or expertise. And while I do not want to second guess current plans or start an academic debate, I would share the following from what I know about Afghanistan and the Afghans.
First, I would give the Northern Alliance a big wad of cash so that they can buy off a chunk of the Taliban army before winter.
Second, also with this cash, I would pay some guys to kill some of the Taliban leadership, making it look like an inside job to spread distrust and build on existing discord.
Third I would support the Northern alliance with military assets, but not take it over or adopt so high a profile as to undermine its legitimacy in the eyes of most Afghans.
Fourth would be to give massive amounts of humanitarian aid and assistance to the Afghans in Pakistan in order to demonstrate our goodwill and to give these guys a reason to live rather than the choice between dying of starvation or dying fighting the "infidel."Fifth, start a series of public works projects in areas of the country not under Taliban control (these are much more than the press reports) again to demonstrate goodwill and that improvements come with peace.
Sixth, I would consider very carefully putting any female service members into Afghanistan proper - sorry to the females of our class but within that culture a man who allows a women to fight for him has zero respect, and we will need respect to gain the cooperation of Afghan allies. No Afghan will work with a man who fights with women. I would hold off from doing anything too dramatic in the new term, keeping a low level of covert action and pressure up over the winter, allowing this pressure to force open the fissions around the Taliban that were already developing-expect that they will quickly turn on themselves and on OBL. We can pick up the pieces next summer, or the summer after.
When we do "pick up" the pieces, I would make sure that we do so on the ground, "man to man." While I would never want to advocate American casualties, it is essential that we communicate to OBL and all others watching that we can and will "engage and destroy the enemy in close combat." As mentioned above, we should not try to gain or hold terrain, but Infantry operations against the enemy are essential. There can be no excuses after the defeat or lingering doubts in the minds of our enemies
regarding American resolve and nothing, nothing will communicate this except for ground combat.
And once this is all over, unlike in 1989, the US must provide continued long-term economic assistance to rebuild the country. While I have written too much already, I think it is also important to share a few things on the subject of brutality. Our opponents will not abide by the Geneva conventions. There will be no prisoners unless there is a chance that they can be ransomed or made part of a local prisoner exchange.
During the war with the Soviets, videotapes were made of communist prisoners having their throats slit. Indeed, there did exist a "trade" in prisoners so that souvenir videos could be made by outsiders to take home with them. This practice has spread to the Philippines, Bosnia and Chechnya where similar videos are being made today and can be found on the web for those so inclined. We can expect our soldiers to be treated the same way. Sometime during this war I expect that we will see videos of US prisoners having their heads cut off.
Our enemies will do this not only to demonstrate their "strength" to their followers, but also to cause us to overreact, to seek wholesale revenge against civilian populations, and to turn this into the world-wide religious war that they desperately want. This will be a test of our will and of our character. (For further
collaboration of this type of activity please read Kipling). This will not be a pretty war; it will be a war of wills, of resolve and somewhat conversely of compassion and of a character.
Towards our enemies, we must show a level of ruthlessness that has not been part of our military character for a long time. But to those who are not our enemies we must show a level of compassion probably unheard of during war. We should do this not for humanitarian reasons, even though there are many, but for shrewd military logic. For anyone who is still reading this way too long note, thanks for your patience. I will try to answer any questions that may arise in a more concise manner.
Thanks, Richard Kidd

I remember when the American Motto was "We have not Yet begun to fight".
So pitiful is our current motto "Is it Over Yet?"
Our President made clear of the "Long Term commitment" against terrorism. War is not pleasant and we do not wish to injure or kill innocent people. This is not a level playing field and all necessary steps to defeat terrorism must be taken.

These people are doing their terrible deeds in the name of Islam and would have no problem lighting off 10 -20 suitcase nuclear warheads stolen from the former USSR . Think of the devastation and lost lives from an attack of this magnitude on 40 American cities. Our whole way of life and economy would be destroyed in a moment if these devices were exploded in sync. .
How do we deter these people?.We must hit them where it hurts .GWB should announce that if one nuclear bomb goes off in one American city Mecca and the prophets tomb will be destroyed 20 minutes later by a American Nuclear missile launched from a submarine in the Red Sea.Two cites..... two strikes etc. They have attacked American symbols and destroyed them with no regard. They, like the Soviets before them, only understand ultimate force and there is no appealing to their rationality.
They hold the prophets tomb dear and would not want the responsibility of its destruction falling on them. GWB should also put Iran ,Syria ,Iraq and any other country that supports state terrorism on notice that should a nuclear device go off in any American city they will be targeted automatically and destroyed.
Only with drastic action such as this, will these countries go on the massive manhunt required to root out these kinds of people. They must realize that there whole way of life and their very religion will be jeopardized, and will be destroyed ,if they allow this type of behavior to go on unchecked and sympathized with in their midst. We need a policy in place of Mutually assured destruction announced and in place to thwart this insanity .It will put true fear into the heart of the Middle East Islam and let them know the consequences of their tolerance of radicalism in their midst.

* * *On the back of the American quarter is the motto " e plurbis unim". Wouldn't it be suitable for the US to cast a coin remembering those killed in the attack on the wtc, by showing the twin towers on one side and the lady liberty on the other. The Latin on that coin can read the inscription "e plurbis unim" with this added to it, per adra. So now the inscription would read" per adra e plurbis unim". translation " thru adversity, from many, came one." Even bin laden can read that message, so will his terrorist friends.

* * * I was listening to you at lunch time.
The "daisy cutter" was originally developed to clear helicopter landing zones. It would flatten all the trees or other foliage. It doesn't penetrate but the concussion effects are massive.
The biggest bomb, I believe without rechecking, I think were the 22,000 lb bombs used by the British Lancasters to destroy German submarine pens and also the Tirpitz (spelling?), sister to the Bismark, in a Norwegian fjord.
I remember watching the Valiant Years, a sister to Victory at Sea, and hearing Churchill refer to the German leadership as "Nazi Criminals." He always referred to them as gangsters or criminals. We should always refer to the terrorists as thugs, murderers, and criminals. Never give them legitamacy.
Sincerely,
Stephen

* * * Philippine Muslim rebels hold 50 Christian hostages and are using them as a "human shield"
MORE ATROCITIES FROM AROUND THE WORLD BY THIS "PEACEFUL AND LOVING" RELIGION... GENOCIDE AGAINST CHRISTIANS IN OTHER COUNTRIES IS ONE OF THE MOST UNDERREPORTED NEWS STORIES IN THE US....I WONDER HOW THE FILIPINOS FEEL NOW THAT THEY HAVE KICKED OUT THE US MILITARY AND THEIR COUNTRY IS UNDER SEIGE IN MANY AREAS BY MUSLIM MILITANTS..
Source: AFP via Yahoo!News / Date: 11/27
Followers of Philippine Muslim leader Nur Misuari have taken 50 mostly Christians hostage and are using them as "human shield" in attacks against the military, officials said. The rebels "have taken human shields to prevent the military operation" to drive them out from a southern Philippine government complex, from where they staged mortar attacks," military southern command spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Danilo Servando told AFP.
Zamboanga city Vice Mayor Erbie Fabian said "50 residents are being held hostage" by the group of Misuari, who is being detained in Malaysia when he fled there after leading a bloody revolt that left more than 100 people dead last week. The hostages were taken from villages near the Cabatangan complex before the mortar attacks early Tuesday. Radio reports said hundreds of other villagers were trapped inside their homes as gunbattles erupted.
Military spokesman Brigadier General Edilberto Adan said a civilian was killed and nine others were wounded. The army said three soldiers were injured. There were no immediate reports of rebel casualties, but Servando said: "I am sure they have many casualties." One person was killed and nine injured when fighting broke out between the military and followers of a Muslim leader in the southern Philippines, officials said. Radio reports said the gunmen had taken several Christian hostages, some of whom escaped and told officials they were threatened with harm unless the army backed off.
Military spokesman Brigadier General Edilberto Adan said the fighting was instigated by the "Misuari renegade group" who fired rounds of mortar and gunfire from the Cabatangan complex shortly before 4.00 am (2000 GMT).
The gunmen had occupied the area last week after Misuari launched a failed revolt in Jolo island that left more than 100 people dead. "Our emergency units are also on alert, the Department of Healh and the hospitals in Zamboanga city are taking in the wounded. I heard there was one civilian killed and at least nine others wounded," Adan said over DZRH radio in Manila.
* * * Rush, I NEED TO VENT! I read the article in The Miami Herald today (neatly tucked away in the bottom corner on pg 12a) about the release of Mooruddin Turabi. I thought we were going there to capture these "characters". How dowe (The US Armed Services) allow the governer of Kabul to do this? I guess the country is not that secure. Even the Interim Prime Minister is outraged.
It is time to put Gul Agha under house arrest! Now I suppose "we" will have to run all over the world looking for these guys, which is a complete wasteof resources. Please tell me we are not going to go down the road of appeasement and compromise for the sake of being "politically correct". The American people will not sit still for long if this continues, especially as our Servicemen start to die in action. It's time to round 'em up!

* * * New al Qaeda leader reported to plan more U.S. raids
Friday February 15, 8:50 AM - Sent in by Brad
NEW YORK (Reuters) - A 30-year-old Palestinian has become al Qaeda's new chief of operations and is believed to be organising remnants of the network to carry out new attacks against the United States, The New York Times reported on Thursday.Abu Zubaydah has been linked directly to the planning of the September 11 strikes, and tied to plans for a wave of attacks in Europe that were to occur last year, including plots to blow up the American embassies in Paris and Sarajevo, the Times said, citing U.S. officials.
American investigators said they were convinced that Abu Zubaydah was now trying to activate al Qaeda sleeper cells for new strikes on the United States and its allies, the Times reported.
Investigators are eager to apprehend Abu Zubaydah because he is one of the few al Qaeda leaders who could provide information as to the identities of the thousands of trainees that passed through the network's camps in Afghanistan and could still be awaiting instructions, the Times said.
American intelligence agencies believe that he was at Osama bin Laden's side in Afghanistan in the first weeks after September 11, and Bush administration officials say there is fragmentary evidence that he escaped to Pakistan, the Times reported.
Abu Zubaydah first came to the attention of American counterterrorism experts as a major al Qaeda figure after they received reports that he had coordinated plots to attack the Los Angeles International Airport and tourist sites in Jordan in December 1999.
Abu Zubaydah travels the world using false passports and multiple aliases, the Times said. His full name is believed to be Zayn al-Abidin Muhammad Husayn Abu Zubaydah, the Times said.
The newspaper said Abu Zubaydah, reportedly born in Saudi Arabia, has taken over the job of Muhammad Atef, who is believed to have been killed in a U.S. bombing raid in Afghanistan.
* * * War on Terrorism
Hi Rush,
Enjoy your show, don't always agree with everything, but that is what talk shows are all about hearing different opinions. I'm concerned about our having a " War", on terrorism. To me it is a world wide collective police action against terrorist. To name it a war is to change peoples expatiations of actions. This will be long and drawn out affair, hopefully with effective results.
We have had self declared "wars" in the past without very much results, the war on poverty, the war on Drugs , to name a couple that haven't been very effective for the dollars spent. The media is asking "What freedom are you willing to give up to be safe?" to me that misses the mark. The question should be "What amount of inconvenience are you willing to suffer for safety?" This blank check against terrorism has a down side, when they make Jaywalking a act of terrorism, they will be after all of our personal freedoms. I've lived long enough to see these great programs become a burricatic nightmare as the good thoughts and deeds are changed into administrative regulations. This is just a word of caution, I don't think we need flag waving people jumping on the bandwagon. We don't need televised moments of a terrorist death, In Nam during the Tet offensive , North Vietnam lost almost a generation of young men, things were so bad they sacked the General in charged. (I don't remember his name, but he won the war against the French) They made a assault against the US Embassy in Saigon and it was all over the media as we were loosing the whole offensive.
Thanks for being a voice.

U.S. military doctors treat 137 Guantanamo prisoners
BY CAROL ROSENBERG
crosenberg@herald.comGUANTANAMO BAY NAVAL BASE, Cuba -- U.S. doctors have amputated two legs and a finger from war-wounded prisoners. They removed an eye from a captive who came here sight damaged. In one dangerous and delicate operation, a neurosurgeon sliced a lesion from the spine of a 21-year-old terror suspect; the captive should soon walk and go to the bathroom on his own again.
Seven weeks into this offshore U.S. prison project, American military doctors have treated 137 of the 300 captives at Camp X-Ray -- caring for everything from battlefield injuries to chronic health conditions they brought with them from Afghanistan.
''We told the world that we're going to take care of these people. And we are,'' said Navy Capt. Pat Alford, commander of Fleet Hospital 20.
All 300 men got checkups their first day here; doctors have since conducted 45 surgeries, often more than one on a single patient.
Yet some captives have been suspicious of the labyrinthine tent that sits on a slice of land overlooking the Caribbean.
One patient said after an early operation that he consented to the surgery but believed he'd never wake from sedation, said Navy Cmdr. Robert Metts, an orthopedic surgeon who has done the amputations.
Another captive was quoted as saying he thought the surgery was a subterfuge -- to inject him with truth serum.
''They seem to be sort of surprised that we're willing to go to this level of care for them while they're in detention,'' said Metts of Derry, N.H. ``On the grand scale, they are thinking they might be coming here to be executed -- and we're giving them the best care of their lives.''
A FIRST
Designed by the Navy to treat American troops and other so-called ''friendlies,'' the tent hospital is for the first time being used specifically to treat U.S. enemies.
So adjustments have been made. There are fewer beds, to accommodate more guards. A poster near the operating room reminds doctors to keep track of their pens and tourniquets.
''Never turn your back on a detainee,'' it admonishes.
Perhaps the most dangerous and delicate of the 45 detainee operations were last weekend. Assisted by five Navy specialists, a neurosurgeon flown in especially from the Portsmouth, Va., Naval Medical Center spent nearly four hours to remove a lesion of puss that was pinching a prisoner's spine.
Like most Camp X-Ray prisoners, he had arrived shackled and masked from the 8,000-mile flight from Afghanistan, but soon after lost the use of his legs and control of his bowels, doctors said.
Had he not had the operation, the prisoner would have been permanently paralyzed and probably dead by summer, said Lt. Cmdr. Edison McDaniels, the surgeon.
Doctors say the lesion was probably caused by an old case of tuberculosis, which is prevalent in the subcontinent region. A day later, a thoracic surgeon dispatched from the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md., cut lesions off the infected left lung of another sick captive, whose condition was also considered TB-related.
PRISONERS' CONSENT
Doctors say each operation is done with the prisoner's consent, often obtained through a military translator -- considerations that have left some younger service members to wonder aloud why the United States would give the best of care to an enemy that would surely not reciprocate the treatment.
''As Americans, we're trained to the highest of standards,'' explained Army Lt. Col. Bill Costello, a spokesman for the overall prison project. ``You give people the best care that you're capable of. You don't forget certain medical practices. You don't lower your standards based on who you're treating.''
In fact, U.S. military officers say, the prisoners are getting the same treatment that Navy doctors would give their own service members. And without the burden of filling out military paperwork.
Yet medical officers say they are monitoring and coping with conditions that were perhaps unimagined even as the prisoners were being airlifted from Afghanistan. The prisoner who had an eye removed was 21, had for six years had a headache from a hit with a cricket ball back in Southwest Asia that blinded his left eye.
Another prisoner's brain is strewn with metal shrapnel; it healed before he got here and so far requires no more treatment.
There are two psychiatric patients at Camp X-Ray, one a diagnosed psychotic now receiving psychotropic drugs.
Another prisoner arrived with no legs -- completely healed, doctors say, from a months- or years-old explosion -- that require two guards to carry him each time he needs to go to the bathroom. Doctors plan to fit him eventually with Pentagon-paid prosthetics.
In the case of the spine patient, surgeon McDaniels said he spent 45 minutes with him to explain the procedure, rather than the 20 minutes it would have taken without translation.
Afterward, ''He was quite happy that things went well,'' and spoke a few words of English.
A WORD OF THANKS
He said, ''Thank you. You are a very, very, very, very good man,'' the surgeon recounted.
Reporters have been forbidden from speaking with the prisoners, although they have seen them, a few feet away, in a hospital that is both foreign and familiar to Americans.
There's an X-ray room and a laboratory, an operating room and a pharmacy -- all fashioned inside huge metal shipping containers, now swarming with U.S. medical personnel and soldiers in battle-dress uniforms.
Each prisoner has a Koran on his bed, and many are seen leafing through them despite handcuffs. A closer look also reveals that, beneath their bedsheets, most are cuffed at the ankle to the metal bedstead.
* * * Club Fed and Our Invisible Troops - by David H. Hackworth
The brouhaha created by breast-beating human-rights groups over our military's treatment of the terrorist scuzz now vacationing at the Pentagon's recently opened Cuban Club Fed -- eagerly aided and abetted by a press too prone to the sensational -- is something else. These bleeding hearts claim we're brutalizing the captives by forcing them to wear orange jumpsuits, sleep on mats, exercise daily, shower frequently and eat special food.
My buddy, a Connecticut cop, finds the protests fascinating. He says, "I'm having a lot of trouble concentrating on my job because of the prisoners at Guantanamo."
Then, with a twinkle in his eyes, he adds: "Are they getting enough sleep, the right diet, enough prayer time? We have to keep them happy and healthy. They only want to murder all of us the first chance they get."
Amen. Their perp pal responsible for the first World Trade Center attack jabbed a sharpened comb into a guard's eye while he was in the pokey. This time around, they've already bitten one of the soldiers guarding them and threatened to kill anybody else who gets too close. After all, these are the folks who spent their leisure time back in Afghanistan skinning captives alive -- when they weren't playing soccer with their heads.
Think of them as kamikaze killers looking for an edge.
However you want to categorize these creeps -- who are living a lot better at Club Fed than they ever did in the caves of Tora Bora -- Geneva Convention rules are for uniformed soldiers, not for skyjackers who fly commercial planes filled with moms and dads into office buildings manned by civilians operating computers, or for zealots who kill Arab women because they drive a car or don't cover their faces. Al-Qaida is a terrorist organization, not a state, and its crazies wear street gear and operate disguised as civilians. Terrorists dressed to pass like these were often shot right on the spot during World War II and the Korean War.
I'm personally offended that none of the whistle-blowers seems to give a damn about the welfare or safety of our sons and daughters guarding these thugs. Have you read any stories about the dangers they face? Have any of our politicians bothered to inspect our kids' living conditions when they've jetted into Gitmo to check out the terrorists' treatment and pick up some tube time?
Had anyone checked, they would have discovered that our U.S. Army Military Police guarding the terrorists think the prisoners are being treated a lot better than they are. They're not pleased that the brass, the lawmakers and the press are more interested in the well-being of the detainees than the soldiers guarding them, and that they might as well be invisible.
Here's what our soldiers from the Army's 401st MP Company out of Fort Hood, Texas, who are the main monster-watchers, are saying:
"We live like crap down here with no extra pay or tax break, and we feel that no one up above gives a rat's ass about us," a sergeant says. "Our officers are more concerned with doing Pentagon damage control concerning the detainees than looking after the troops."
"The detainees sleep on soft mats on a nice surfaced floor while we sleep on cots inside tents with dirt floors. They get four hot meals a day, fresh fruit, regular issues of snacks such as sunflower seeds, regular clean clothes laundered by the Marine supply system," says another soldier. "We get canned food and MREs, canned fruit. We buy our own snacks and do our own laundry."
"The Marine general here says we can have a beer when off duty, but our Army leadership is running so scared that it set a no-drinking policy," says another troop. "We are responsible enough to secure the prisoners, but not enough to have a beer."
"The Red Cross put us in a very dangerous situation with their demands, and sadly our leadership went along with it," a soldier said. "We've been told to lie to Marine inspectors over standards and requirements. The Marines are right, the Army's wrong, and we're stuck in the middle."
Maybe someday, do-gooders, editors, lawmakers and senior Army leaders will remember our soldiers are human beings with human rights, too, and get their side of the story. Charity should begin at home.
* * * WAke Up America!! Mark these words or else...
Date: Tue, May 21 03:46 AMThis country will "go down" for the following reasons unless we collectively as Americans change our
attitudes. The entire U.S. military is only concerned about appearances. We rely on throwing high technology and money at our enemies. As one special forces boy put it, "It's not that we're that good, it is just thateveryone else sucks."You know what, this is true and we are safe until you go hand-to-hand on our on soil. This is what has happened and what will continue to happen until the U.S. military and the general public come together and show some resolve.
For example, a warning that there is a pending suicide bombing attack is INEFFECTIVE at stopping the attack. The goal is to STOP the attack, not identify it! Appearances, political cover-my-tail-action.
What I propose (and you find an American who wants to feel safe going to the grocery store to buy milk with their baby who objects to this)is: announce that on Thursday, 5/23 every entrance to every public store will have a screening guard to examine and find entering suicide bombers. One point of entry. Americans get real tolerant (even New Yorkers of which I am one) when they have to do something that ensures their safey.
Next, and this is the important point, we need to go back to the Old West mentality. The arrest, trial,
conviction and sentencing occurs RIGHT AT THE SCENE. Americans need to be informed, and this also tells the bad guys how we're thinking, that if you see a guy or girl with a bomb strapped on this is "how you disable them."Disabling them means complete cessation of their central nervous system - now. You can't call the
police, call the professionals - you see, "they" have brought the war to our malls - we're losing if we
can't fight for ourselves, i.e., the "let's roll" hero. What's the alternative. Call the fat security
guard who pulls his once a year used 0.38 and yells "halt" --BOOOMMMMMMMM! It's a no-brainer, you see a bomb, the person gets taken out - they lose their rights the minute they strap on the bomb.We will go down unless we educate the American people and the terrorist that we are truly derived, related to, believe in and have the same resolve as our Forefathers who fought hard and dirty. Read somehistory. We will regain our glory, comfort and safety only after we all believe this in ours hearts.
Mark these words. Wake up America!

* * * A Proven Terror Deterrent
I think Bush should announce that we are redirecting our ICBM's to point at all the major cities in those countries identified as the evil axis and.....if a nuculear, bilogical or similar terror act is commited on American Soil that all missles will be fired simultaneously no matter WHO is responsible.....then reload the silo's and be prepared for the next round....it's coming and we can't stop it any other way....it will most likely come through our ports..... and take out Washington, DC New York and Los Angeles... keep the B52's loaded and in the air.....if these radical bastards want to be wiped out.....so be it..... I would think the leaders of those countries with the missles pointed at them would do everything in their power to root out and stop terrorism....it would certainly be in their best interest to do so.....

* * * "Show me what a terrorist looks like."
With the war on Terror at center stage, hindiste seems to be the new answer to assign closure to 911. Quoting an old addage, "show me what an insane man looks like," could also be phrased, "show me what a terrorist looks like." The sad reality is that no brake system in the world can stop people who hate americans and plot for years to find new ways to kill us through technology and patience because their whole reason for existence is the destruction of the infidel.....

Date: Thu, May 30 09:20 AMHi Rush,
How can two supposedly intelligent governments (India and Pakistan) allow themselves to be so obviously baited and manipulated by the Taliban/Muslim radicals? They're willing to kill millions of their citizens with nukes while Osama chortles with glee!!! How dumb!

* * * A solution for homeland suicide bombers
Every US citizen that is able: buy a gun. Get a permit to carry a firearm.
Some states have right-to-carry legislation. Crime is down in those states.
Rest of the US needs to follow suit. The US has a reputation for being violent and a bunch of "cowboys". I don't think the terrorists have the balls to walk into public places loaded with explosives if they think they will be dropped by an average "joe" on the streets. In Israel, the citizenry is unarmed. Easy targets. Let's not be the same.
* * * : Excellent Book....William Bennett: Why We Fight: Moral Clarity and the War on Terrorism - Date: Thu, May 16 03:23 AM
Why We Fight: Moral Clarity and the War on Terrorism
by William J. BennettIf you are unsure of why America is the greatest nation on earth - or you are tired of being surrounded by people who think that it isn't - READ THIS BOOK. Then teach your children what our educators no longer teach them. As Abraham Lincoln said, "America is the last, best hope of this earth."
Bestselling author William J. Bennett says he was inspired by displays of patriotism after the September 11 terrorist attacks, but he was also struck by how "some were quick to find us to blame." He worries that this "countermovement of America-bashing" will make the United States lose its resolve: "What I fear is the erosion of moral clarity, and the spread of indifference and confusion, as a thousand voices discourse with energy
and zeal on the questionable nature, if not the outright illegitimacy, of our methods or
our cause." Bennett cites dozens of examples of professors who decry U.S. foreign policy and pundits who object to so much flag flying. While recognizing that these are minority views, he concludes that Osama bin Laden caught Americans with their defenses down--not just physical and military defenses, but also moral and intellectual ones. "Many of us have forgotten what we once knew about our freedoms and our decencies, and we have forgotten why, time and time again, we have had to rally ourselves to the point of ultimate sacrifice to defend them," writes Bennett, who also appraises Islam and defends Israel on these pages. Why We Fight is short and quickly read--and worthwhile for anybody who wants to be reminded of first principles during the war on terrorism.
* * * An American / Date: Mon, Nov 25 10:43 PM
Something to think about...Finally someone says it right !!!
You probably missed it in the rush of news last week, but there was actually a report that someone in Pakistan had published in a newspaper an offer of a reward to anyone who killed an American, any American.
So an Australian dentist wrote the following to let everyone know what an American is, so they would know when they found one. "An American is English, or French, or Italian, Irish, German, Spanish, Polish, Russian or Greek. An American may also be Canadian, Mexican, African, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Australian, Iranian, Asian, or Arab, or Pakistani, or Afghan. An American may also be a Cherokee, Osage, Blackfoot, Navaho, Apache, Seminole or one of the many other tribes known as native Americans."
"An American is Christian, or he could be Jewish, or Buddhist, or Muslim. In fact, there are more Muslims in America than in Afghanistan. The only difference is that in America they are free to worship as each of them chooses. An American is also free to believe in no religion. For that he will answer only to God, not to the government, or to armed thugs claiming to speak for the government and for God."
"An American is from the most prosperous land in the history of the world. The root of that prosperity can be found in the Declaration of Independence, which recognizes the God given right of each person the pursuit of happiness."
"An American is generous. Americans have helped out just about every other nation in the world in their time of need. When Afghanistan was overrun by the Soviet army 20 years ago, Americans came with arms and supplies to enable the people to win back their country. As of the morning of September 11, Americans had given more than any other nation to the poor in Afghanistan."
"Americans welcome the best, the best products, the best books, the best music, the best food, the best athletes. But they also welcome the least. The national symbol of America, The Statue of Liberty, welcomes your tired and your poor, the wretched refuse of your teeming shores, the homeless, tempest tossed. These in fact are the people who built America. Some of them were working in the Twin Towers the morning of September 11, 2002 earning a better life for their families. I've been told that the World Trade Center victims were from at least 30 other countries, cultures, and first languages, including those that aided and abetted the terrorists."
"So you can try to kill an American if you must. Hitler did. So did General Tojo, and Stalin, and Mao Tse-Tung, and every bloodthirsty tyrant in the history of the world. But, in doing so you would just be killing yourself. Because Americans are not a particular people from a particular place. They are the embodiment of the human spirit of freedom. Everyone who holds to that spirit, everywhere, is an American."
Finally someone says it right !!!
Jim

Chamberland tried to understand Hitler. Eventually England realized they had to fight Nazi evil.
When we fought evil in Nazi Germany, we did not become Hitler.
Restraint does not work... just look at how frequently terrorists kill innocent civilians in Israel.
When you don't punish and eliminate... you just encourage more terrorism.
