ATTACK OSAMA BIN LADEN WHERE HE IS VULNERABLE: MAKE A UNITED INTERNATIONAL EFFORT AGAINST HIS FINANCIAL ASSETS. MOST CERTAINLY HIS RESOURCES ARE NOT CENTERED IN AFGHANISTAN. EVEN IF IN SCATTERED LOCATIONS, SEARCH THEM OUT AND SEE THAT THEY ARE FROZEN SO THAT HE CANNOT FINANCE HIS WIDESPREAD OPERATIONS. HIT HIM WHERE. IT WILL REALLY HURT.
* * * I thank God daily for sending us a true MAN, a magnificent leader for these times. My household is 100% confident that all our government's actions, (apparant or invisible) are being planned, ordered and carried out in the most thoughtful, honorable way possible. An extreme contrast to the embarassing past administration! Thank God for George W. Bush - We are praying daily for guidance and wisdom for his decisions, and fully believe he is doing the same.

Note to file: Some current thoughts
Is it possible that the terrorists did not think through the results of their actions and make major mistakes?
Consider the following: They destroyed Wold Trade Center with the result of killing representatives and civilians from several international companies. Is it possible that they have unfettered the ire and desire to eliminate terrorists ilk from the face of the earth by many nations who have suffered losses from the terrorists actions, irrespective of the terrorists reasons and objectives?
Note the positive results of the Bush administration to gain the support of a worldwide coalition to support the elimination of this terrorist scourge. Think of the administration's strength of negotiation to enlist the cooperation of even marginal nations, that are fence stradlers, if there is a coalition with global strength. Picture the position of for example; Pakistan isolated from world trade and financial support, which way do you think that they will decide when asked to support the desires of a worldwide coalition that supports the elimination of terrorism? With enough support a leader (Bush) can pretty well enforce the elimination of any support for any radical terrorist group. Very possibly this is the most positive and acceptable accomplishment any leader can hope for with the present mood of allies and others.
Also an after thought; is it possible that the shallow thinking and remarks of the two public representatives from the state where two suicidal flights were launched would have been better presented if constructive and/or creative remarks to offer recommendations or positive advice instead of present administrative criticism could have been made. We all know that that prospect is not the agenda of the DNC. The marching order for criticism obviously fell on the shoulders of those that can least likely get away with it especially with the terrorist results from their state. Too bad, even the DNC isn't perfect either they make many errors also.
Another after thought. Where in the world is Vincente Fox? With all the fanfare and pressure on the US to allow the special consideration of his citizens of his country that entered this country illegally, where is his support for the USA (where his illegal citizens are) when we have sustained excessive collateral damage. Mr. Fox, where are you when we need your support in the international arena? I think you are not a good partner.
P.S. Where is Congress with their vote of support of Declaration of War?

* * * REGARDING THE SINFUL ACTS DONE AGAINST US, THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, THE FIRST TRUE NATION OF NATIONS.
WELL, SOMETIME IN THE FUTURE, OUR LEADERS WILL DECIDE WHEN TO STRIKE BACK, AND HOW HARD TO STRIKE BACK AT THOSE WHO COMMITTED THIS SINFUL CRIME AGAINST US.
OKAY, ONCE OUR LEADERS HAVE DISCOVERED WHO THESE DEMON LITTLE RATS ARE, AND WHICH STATES HAS PROVIDED SANCTUARY TO THESE DEMON RATS, OUR LEADERS MUST TOTALLY GET THE JOB DONE. LEAVING ANY OF THEM ALIVE WILL ONLY INVITE FUTURE VENGEFUL ATTACKS AGAINST US AGAIN. RIGHT?
YES, ITS SOMETHING NO ONE WANTS TO DO, BUT ITS THE THING THAT NEEDS TO GET DONE, PERIOD.
FERNANDO* * * For eight yrs we had an administation in dc, that gutted our military & defense infrastructure, systematicly attacked our rights ,let our security lax. posed and postured, spinned to keep the power and vain glory, attacked anyone who critisized them. Did away w/any incentive for our captains of industry to keep plants in usa (nafta). traded god knows what, to the chinese for campaign contributions, let our missile secrets get away.rubbed elbows with knowncriminal elements & gave away 75 million a year to the people that danced in the streets tues at the news our countrymen dying ,did nothing to increase security after the wtc in 93, disgraced the office by getting his jolliies w/interns on taxpayers time, lied, cheated, stole, madeus the laughing stock of the entire world, sold the bedrooms in OUR house to the highest bidder
Is it any wonder the extremist aren't afraid of us? They think we re fat self-indulgent and easy. And now its gonna to cost us in blood to keep our freedoms & liberties, that it was his charge to protect I thank God, that he's not in charge now, when we are going to have to pay that price
George W. Bush isn't perfect, but so far hes done nothing to disgrace the office. He's shown genuine compassion & reflects the values of his parents. I'm no longer ashamed of who holds the office and seems to be on course to eclipse his father in some areas, he got sand, as they say out west.I hope & pray that God watches over him gives him wisdom & fortitude so may he rise to the challenge of what lies ahead.
God bless G.W. Bush, our armed forces and the USA
* * * I am not sure who will get this but I have the answer to how to get even. Killing 1 or 2 people or bombing a country will do nothing. All of the bad guys have one thing in common. They all hate Isreal. They want us to stop protecting them. The only way to hurt them alll. Is to increase (double or increase by1/3 or whatever ) the size of the Isreal border and chase all the Muslims OUT. Or chase them all out of Jersulaem . I promise that will get back at all the bad guys and they will accomplish the OPPOSITE of what they wanted.

* * * I'm wondering how quick the ACLU would be to defend flag burning or to protest the mentioning of God and faith or prayer? Seems they are quiet for the moment.
* * * We must plant doubt among Laden's followers and shame him for burrowingdeeper into hiding. Call him "THE COWARD LADEN". We will undoubtedly kill numerous not so innocent 'civilians' when he places them in the line of fire. His elusiveness must be converted to "HIDING BEHIND WOMEN'S SKIRTS...HE IS AFRAID TO FIGHT LIKE A MAN".
A Proud American,
Kent* * * Today I listened to my two son's rattling their sabers They wanted to load up and go kill Arabs. To them it did not matter which Arab, American or not.
I hear that from many other young and old men and women. While I can not influence the world I can have some influence on my family. I asked my boys to settle down because Arabs are not the real enemy.
The enemy is apathy and then hysteria. The action to be taken is the same when you want to get rid of ants. You bait them and then follow the trail to the heart of the hive. It takes time but it is effective. The deaths that the ants experience are horrible... but effective.
While you are killing the combat-ants you are also killing their ability to reproduce, and you do it while hiding, watching, waiting, and striking.History tells us that fair fighting a war does not exist.
That is the advice given to my two sons.
Matt P* * * I believe that one of the best and smartest things our country can do (besides retaliating militarily) to these acts of war, is for the US to close our borders (not to everyone) to those of aribic origin and Moslems, ones that come to us from countries that we know that harbor/aid terrorists. Also to expel many of them that are already here, like students and recent entrents into our country, that have not come with families, but came by themselves.
For terrorist to be able to come against us, they have to be inside our borders, as they don't have the capabilities to come against us in other ways. The great Roman Empire had its fall from within, and these terrorist can pull us down, only if they are here.I know the big emphasis right now is on airline safety, but they can come against us in many other ways as you well know, but not if they aren't here. My big concern, is that my country will not have the common sense, or the resolve to do this. You will probably not agree totally with this, but I had to express my views.
Thank You,
Darrell* * * The Three Stooges
Forgive me for using this but I think it is appropriate. Were are Mr. Jackson, Mr Sharpton, and Mr Farakhan. These jokers were great at dividing America and causing racial hatred....where are they now that America needs to be united? Also, where is the ACLU.........they too were and are great for destroying America isn't it odd that they seem to have disappeared.
* * * Look in My Eyes
On the night of infamy, my eleven year old daughter had trouble going to sleep. She was worried about her safety, the safety of our family and the safety of the United States. I sat on the side of her bed and told her to look into the eyes of the President. Look into the eyes of our Leaders in Washington. Look into the eyes of the rescue workers, the firefighters, the police, the eyes of the people of New York and Virginia. I told her to look into my eyes.
I asked her "What do you think you will see?" I then told her " You will see sadness, anger, sorrow, determination and inner strength, but the one thing you will NOT see is FEAR.
Look into MY eyes, you will not see fear. Look into the eyes of the united people of this country, you WILL NOT SEE FEAR.

* * * I just want to say that I am proud of most of the Democrats in the way they have rallied to the support of our president. That is what all Americans should do. He is doing a good job!
It is enough that our President is doing a good job. For us to make comparisons of Bush to Clinton is a big mistake. We all know what Clinton did or did not do. For us to point out his weaknesses at a time like this just dims Bush's light. What Bush needs now is our support and praise and forget this Clinton stuff. We are all Americans! Let's act like Americans, praising our country and its leaders. That is
patriotism!Sincerely, Louise
* * * HERE ARE A COUPLE OF IDEAS THAT I HAVE PUT TOGETHER.....
NOW THAT THE PRESIDENT OF OUR GREAT NATION HAS CALLED US TO PRAY, NOW THAT THE CONGRESS OF OUR GREAT NATION HAS CALLED US TO PRAY, NOW THAT THE GOVENORS OF OUR GREAT STATES HAVE CALLED US TO PRAY, NOW THAT THE LEGLISLATURES OF OUR GREAT STATES HAVE CALLED US TO PRAY, NOW THAT THE LIBERAL MEDIA HAS CALLED US TO PRAY, AND NOW THAT THE RELIGIOUS LEADERS OF OUR GREAT NATION HAVE CALLED US TO PRAY FOR GREAT NATION AND THE IMPACT OF THE ACTS OF THE TERRIOSTS AGAINST OUR PEOPLE, I HAVE ONLY ONE QUESTION TO ASK:
"HONORABLE" JUSTICES OF THE SUPREME COURT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, "WOULD IT BE OK TO PRAY IN SCHOOL,.........NOW?
ALSO ALONG THE SAME LINE.... WOULDN'T IT BE TIMELY TO HAVE ALL OUR GOD FEARING TEACHERS TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS GREAT MOVEMENT THAT HAS BEGIN TO STIR IN OUR SOCIETY BY ANNOUNCING THAT THE WEDNESDAY BEFORE THANKSGIVING BE SET ASIDE AS "NATIONAL PRAYER IN SCHOOL DAY". ON THAT DAY WOULDN'T IT BE NICE FOR ALL TEACHERS TO SET ASIDE A TIME TO PRAY IN THEIR CLASSROOMS.
DO YOU SUPPOSE WE COULD GET SOMETHING GOING THAT WE COULD KEEP GOING AFTER THE SMOKE CLEARS? FOR WHAT IS WORTH, MAYBE A MAN LIKE YOURSELF COULD ASSIST IN THE IMPLEMENTATION..... DIDOS

* * * I am a Lutheran pastor and shared your embarrassment when I heard you paraphrase (or quote?) the message of Pat Robertson & Jerry Fallwell suggesting that God is punishing certain US citizens by allowing terrorists to be successful in their hatred of the America. (I'm paraphrasing your comments to the best of my memory--no quotation marks). My point is this:
When random acts of violence--or natural disasters--kill, maim or harm in any way innocent people, we are not to look for other people to blame, and then preach, The LOOORRD is punishing you people for your SINNNNNSah!!!! (a paraphrase--no quotation marks)
Rather, my responsibility as God's representative is to tell everyone, even my most loyal members: "Unless you repent, you too will all perish" (Luke 13:3,5). Then I must go on to tell everyone, even the greatest sinners (of whom I am the worst), DO NOT BE AFRAID. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING (a paraphrase leading to this quote:)I TELL YOU, NOTHING "in all creation... will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 8:39).
Shame on all politicians who use religion to play politics, and shame on all religious leaders who use politics to play religion! -- whichever applies to Fallwell-Robertson.

These "HEROES" have been digging since Tuesday (Sept 11). We as a family enjoy going on mini vacation - like a weekend retreat to a hotel. Maybe we can ask Marriotts and other hotel owners to give certificates to the volunteers - a way of saying thank you, giving them a day of relaxation and lifting their spirits.
I would like to donate my frequent miles from Marriotts (one day stay) and a $100 gift certificate from Calm Approach - The Therapeutic Massage Center - .I've sent this email to numerous agencies .. Thank you and God Bless America!

* * * I hope that our leaders come up with the correct response to the attack on America. There statements have been good, but words are worthless without action.
Why not have congress declare war on terrorism? Notify the world that we will not respect the laws or borders of any country that harbors terrorists or allows terrorist training facilities etc.
The government must develop and implement a plan to fight all terrorist both now and in the future or there will eventually be more attacks in the US that will make the current loss of life seem insignificant.
Our Government must hunt down all terrorists using all of our resources and eliminate them. They must not be soft hearted or concerned with world opinion on this issue . Our elected leaders must take action to protect America and the American people or we will be victims again.

* * * This was the same man who came within a hair's breadth of losing an election in November, who withstood the political chicanery of the Florida Democratic machine to fix the vote count.
This was the same man who admitted to having a drinking problem in younger years, and whose happy-go-lucky lifestyle led him to mediocre grades in college and an ill-fated oil venture.
This was the same man who mangled syntax even more than his father, and whose speaking missteps became known as "Bushisms."
And on Friday, this was the man who bore the weight of the world and the responsibilities of a generation with dignity, class, confidence, appropriate solemnity, and even much-needed wit.
One thing struck me during the campaign, that difficult roller-coaster campaign that now seems years ago. It was that George W. Bush never seemed to get ruffled. Whether the theft of a campaign debate video or the sudden(some would say, vicious) release of a DUI arrest two decades ago at a key moment, "W" did not lose his cool.
At times, his staff seemed overconfident, as did many of us. A 350-electoral-vote win, they quietly implied ... and we optimistically believed. Then they counted the votes, discounted others, and re-counted still others. At the end, he was still there. Whereas Al Gore almost frantically huffed and puffed, trying to gin up something out of nothing, Bush quietly but confidently waited at his ranch. He did nothing: that is the mistake people have constantly made with this man, confusing lack of bluster for absence of action. No, his team of attorneys and the iron-willed James Baker were carrying out his orders, but W stayed in the background, confident and faithful.
You see, it is this faith business that confounded everyone. We have had such actors and liars in public office that we have looked skeptically whenever anyone used the term faith.
But this was the same man who was the first politician ever in recent memory to name Jesus Christ as the lord of his life on public TV. Not an oblique reference to being "born-again" or having a "life change." He said the un-PC-like phrase, "Jesus Christ," to which his handlers and advisors, no doubt, off stage, were also saying, "Jesus Christ" in a much different tone.
God has a way of honoring those who honor him. David learned that while he was on the run from Saul's armies. Job learned that after his time of horrible tribulation. The Messiah said so Himself, many times. So this was the man who actually put faith into practice. He actually loves those who hate him. It is a staggering concept, so foreign in daily occurrence that few thought it anything but grandstanding. Even one of W's biggest supporters chided the president for adhering to his "new tone."
Yet there he was, again and again, thanking the Democrats. Appointing his enemies to high places in his government. Inviting his former foes and their wives to private movie screenings, and (I know, this is hard to stomach)even treating them with dignity. See, this was the man who learned early on how faith worked: by praying for his enemies, you "heap burning coals upon their heads."
Happen to catch Bill Clinton at the National Prayer Service? Didn't look too good, did he?
This was the man who named the absolute top people in national security and defense, then caught barbs from the politically righteous that this one didn't have the right views on abortion or that one didn't have the right position on guns.
And on September 11, at midmorning, this was the man thrust into a position only known by Roosevelt, Churchill, Lincoln, and Washington. The weight of the world was on his shoulders, and the responsibility of a generation was on his soul.
So this same man---the one that the media repeatedly attempted to tarnish with charges of "illegitimacy," and the one whose political opponents desperately sought to stonewall until mid-term elections -- walked to his seat at the front of the National Cathedral just three days after the two most impressive symbols of American capitalism and prosperity virtually evaporated, along with, perhaps, thousands of Americans.
As he sat down next to his wife, immediately I knew that even if his faith ever faltered, hers didn't. I have never seen a more peaceful face than Laura Bush, whose eyes seemed as though they were already gazing at the final outcome ... not just of this conflict, but of her reward in Heaven itself. In this marriage, you indeed got two for the price of one.
The appropriate songs were sung, as one said, to in an almost unbearably emotional service. I, for one, broke down innumerable times merely listening on tape delay on the radio. How the man spoke without blubbering, I'll never know.
Then came the defining moment of our generation. Some people fondly recall their Woodstock days. Others mark with grim sadness November 22, 1963, as the day America lost her innocence. But I firmly believe when the history of this time is written, it will be acknowledged by friend and foe alike that President George W. Bush came of age in that cathedral and lifted a nation off its knees.
It wasn't so much his words, though read a decade later, they will indeed be as stirring as any. The conflict would end, he noted, "at a time of our choosing." It certainly wasn't his emotion. What had to have been one of the most stunning exhibitions of self-control in presidential history, W was able to deliver his remarks without losing either his resolve or his focus, or, more important, his confidence. It was as if God's hand, which had guided him through that sliver-thin election, now rested fully on him. His quiet confidence let our enemies know ... and believe me, they know ... that they made a grave miscalculation.
Now, this same man who practiced his faith through a tough election, who steeled his convictions even more in a drawn-out Florida battle, and who never once gave in to the temptation to get in the gutter with his foes (well, OK, maybe the "Clymer" comment is an exception), this same man now lifted the weight of the world and the responsibility of a generation and put it on his modest shoulders as though it were another unpleasant duty.
As he walked back to his seat, the camera angle was appropriate. He was virtually alone in the scene, alone in that massive place of God, just him and the Lord. But that's the way it's always been in his life recently. In that brief time it took him to return to his seat, I believe he heard words to the effect of, "You can do this, George. I am with you always. And you can do this well, because I am going before you. And don't worry about the weight. I've got it." And I saw in his eyes a quiet acknowledgment. "I know.
Thank you, Lord."
Back at his seat, when W sat down, George H. W. Bush reached over and took his son's hand. The elder Bush always struck me as a religious man, but not someone who shared his life on a daily basis with the Lord. George H. W. treats the Father like a respected uncle, visiting him on appropriate holidays and knowing the relationship is real, but not constant. Anyway, I believe that in that fatherly squeeze George H. W. said, "I wish I could do this for you, son, but I can't. You have to do this on your own." W squeezed back and gave him that look of peace that Laura had kept throughout...It said, "I don't have to do it alone, dad. I've got help."* * * In Benjamin Netanyahu's book, A Durable Peace, he points out that that since WWII the only reason that the Arab states have not united in a fight to exterminate Western civilization is their lack of unity. Do you believe that the attack on the WTC is an attempt by the terrorists to focus attention on Osama Ben Laden for the specific purpose or raising him up as a unifying force and triggering a war between Islam and the rest of the world?

* * * All the Islamic personalities on radio and TV are up from the say they are not responsible for the cowardly act, which is true. But, why are not the clerics standing up against the Jihad? Why not reinforcing the fact the perpetrators will not go straight to Allah, but to the other place. Everybody wants to jump up and say "I'm not responsible", but I don't see any standing against the act or further acts.
Thank you,
Randy* * * If you need any more proof that the media is STILL protecting their leftist leader, consider the article Chris Matthews wrote last week, (First get mad, then get even). The first paragraph said, "Lucky though he was, Bill Clinton never had his shot at greatness. He never got the opportunity George W. Bush was given Tuesday." Is that what the brutal attack on the United States and it's innocent citizens meant to Matthews...just a missed "opportunity" for greatness for his pal and sorely missed leader Bill Clinton?
For eight years we witnessed a mindless group of liberal journalists give Clinton a pass...not one asked about the trade secrets he sold to China for his campaign blood money, not one pursued the millions of dollars he extorted from drug dealers and arms dealers at the White House 'coffees', not one asked why he passed laws that ham-strung the CIA, not one asked about the coincidence of bombing an aspirin factory the very day Monica Lewinsky was testifying, not one has asked why he tried to cut the military budget in half, not one has asked about the pardons he so liberally granted to fugitives on the FBI's most wanted list, not one asked the questions about his brother and Hillary's brother making money on the pardons granted, and finally, not one asked him the most logical question. "Was it worth it
sir...was it worth selling out our country and our White House to the highest bidders?"We're waiting Mr. Matthews, we're waiting Mr. Brokaw, we're waiting Mr. Jennings, we're waiting Mr. Rather, we're waiting Mr. Kopple, we're waiting 60 Minutes, we're waiting CNN, we're waiting Fox News...we're waiting.
* * * We need to protect our airline industry, not only for the airlines and the traveling public, but for what is happening as a result of the decreased travel. My cab driver said that his business was down 40%. The skycaps say they have no business. The hotels have cancellation after cancellation after cancellation. The Restaurants could not serve their regular buffet at breakfast and lunch because no one was there to justify doing so. The waitresses and bellhops are suffering because they can't make any tips. The little man is hurting. The man that is so concerned about airline executives' salaries isn't considering the thousands upon thousands who work for their daily bread doing without because of what is happeing. We must assist the airlines to recover and encourage the public to fly once again.
Regards
T. C. French Jr.* * * I've flown twice since the attacks, and the planes and airports are empty.Customers are staying home due to apprehension about flying. This is what the airlines should do to regain their customers' business: Offer special deals, such as two-for-one or bargain rates.
The planes are half-empty and flights have been cancelled due to lack of customers. The airlines could use this incentive to fill the empty seats on their flights and generate enthusiasm. The results would impact the other sub-economies that are dependant on airline traffic.

* * * Tendencies to Forget
GOOD DAY, I AM AND ALWAYS HAVE BEEN A CONSERVATIVE. LISTEN TO YOU, B. GRANT ETC. IN SHORT, DESPITE ALL THAT HAS HAPPENED THIS PAST WEEK, AND OUR INEVITABLE LONG TERM RESOLVE MILITARILY, MY FEAR IS OUR "TENDENCIES TO FORGET". WITH EACH PASSING DAY I HAVE STARTED TO HEAR THOSE FAMILIAR TONES OF THE LIBERAL DRIP SEEPING THROUGH THE WOODWORK IN A SOMEWHAT CAUTIOUS, VAIN ATTEMPT TO REVEAL THEMSELVES IN MANY INSTANCES BUT SPECIFICALLY WITH REGARD TO PROFILING. NEED I GO INTO TO DETAIL HERE, YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN. I TRULY BELIEVE OUR CULTURE HAS BEEN SO INTOXICATED FOR SO LONG WITH LIBERALISM, OUR ROAD BACK IS GOING TO BE ENDLESS IF IT ALL FEESIBLE
* * * President Bush or Mr. Bush
I can't stand it! Why are all these new stations referring to our president as "MR." Bush? Is it that they are disputing the election? Are they using some sort of insult? I can't remember ever hearing a President referred to as mister, other than Mr. President. I had to finally write you after hearing on the radio that "Mr. Bush" was going to meet with "President" so & so from another country. Isn't that the most scornful thing you have ever heard our media do, particularly during a national crisis?
* * * WHY ARE WE SO DAMN INVOLVED IN THE MIDDLE EAST? FOR THE BLACK GOLD???
HOW MANY MORE YEARS OF THIS CRAP OF PEOPLE MUST WE ENDURE? AND DOESN'T IT PISS YOU OFF THAT THEY ARE MAKING A SHIT LOAD OF MONEY FROM ALL OF US? POWER AND MONEY CORRUPTS.
OKAY, WE ARE THE MOST ADVANCE TECHNOLOGICAL NATION OF THIS PLANET, AND WE ARE STILL STUCK USING OLD FOSSIL FUEL, AND DEALING WITH CORRUPTED PEOPLE. OKAY.
ITS TIME TO TEST OUR ENGINUITY ONCE AND FOR ALL BY CREATING NEW FUEL SOURCES, RESULTING IN THEIR LOSS OF PROFIT. YES WE NEED OIL, BUT WE HAVE THE MEANS TO CREATE ANYTHING FUEL SOURCE WE WANT.
I SEE IT AS THE OCEAN CURRENT AT A CONSTANT MOTION, MEANING CONSTANT ENERGY SOURCE, LIKE A WINDMILL ELECTRIC GENERATORS. THEN WE FILTRATE THE WATER, AND SOME OF IT TO BE DECOMPOSE TO ITS FOUNDAMENTAL ELEMENTS, OXYGEN AND HYDROGEN. OXYGEN CAN BE USE FOR WHAT, AND WITH WHAT MIXTURES? HYDROGEN CAN BE USE FOR WHAT, AND WITH WHAT MIXTURES?
TELL ME, WOULDN'T YOU LIKE TO SEE THEIR PROFITS DWINDLE AS WELL TO NIL? IN THIS CENTURY, HELL YES!!!!!
SUBSTITUTE ENERGY SOURCEEARLIER I SENT YOU AN E-MAIL REGARDING WHY WE ARE IN THE MIDDLE EAST, AND THE POSSIBLE NEW ENERGY SOURCE THAT WE MAY REPLACE/SUBSTITUTE FOR THE BLACK GOLD, (OIL), BUT I DON'T THINK I PROPERLY EXPLAINED MYSELF.
OKAY. FOR SOME TIME I HAVE BEEN NOTICING THE OCEAN CURRENT ON THE EAST COAST AND ON THE WEST COAST, WHICH ARE AT CONSTANT MOTION. THIS CONSTANT MOTION MEAN CONSTANT ENERGY SOURCE THAT WE MAY USE FOR MANY PURPOSES.
1. I SEE A FIELD OF SUBMERGE ELECTRIC GENERATORS THAT CAN SUPPLY ELECTRICITY TO OUR COASTAL CITIES.
2. I SEE WATER PURIFICATION IN SOME AREAS BY FILTRATION, MAYBE BY THE USE OF THE SUN, OR ELECTRIC HEATING SYSTEM.
3. I SEE THE DECOMPOSITION OF THE OCEAN WATERS BY ELECTROLYSIS, OR SO, AND USE THE ELEMENT OXYGEN AND HYDORGEN TO OUR LIKING.
WE DO NEED OIL, BUT MAYBE NOT IN THE LIMITED AMOUNT WE ARE USING TODAY, AND HAVING PEOPLE LIKE THE MIDDLE EASTERNERS TO DEAL WITH AND PROFIT FROM US! WELL, I DON'T THINK SO.
I BELIEVE WE HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY TO MAKE SUCH ADVANCEMENT THAT WE CAN NOW CREATE FUEL AS POTENT AS THE OIL PRODUCTS. IF WE CONTINUE USING SUCH FUELS, THEN THOSE CORRUPTED BY IT MAY AGAIN USE IT TO THEIR ADVANTAGE. WE MUST REMOVE THAT HOLD THEY HAVE ON US, AND RELY ON OUR TECHNOLOGY AGAIN.
I DO BELIEVE WE HAVE THE MEANS TO DO SO.
FERNANDO* * * I honestly feel that yes we are at WAR and in this case any citizen of the United States that tries to stop or impede the means of this country to defend itself is committing an act of Treason. Justice can not be if you do not take action. I myself am not a ostrich I will and want to see what is coming at me. To be honest I have had my flag for several years since the man I recognize as my father died.
He is/was a veteran and is buried not far from my home in a VA cemetery. I bought the flag and after replacing it twice because of vandalism I took it down. It is back up and has been since the 11th even with the whole in it from the vandal. I will from this day forth always fly the flag of this great nation.
Many honorable men died so I and you and even the bleeding hearts out there have the basic freedoms we take for granted. Loose one of those freedoms and you begin to understand wow that I did not know how important it was to have. Freedom came with a price men died for us then, now we are being called to pay a little again. I was brought up to respect the Flag and what it stood for.
Everyone where I work is horrified by the cowardly acts against our country we all feel that it is time to act. If someone does not like what our country stands for get out... LEAVE oh wait, your right you could not talk about your government like you do ours without being shot. I respect the freedom of speech however it is a FREEDOM. I am sorry I am getting so aggravated with the people who want to kiss and forget.

Medford, Oregon* * * I was born and raised in Alaska. I have seen many of the areas they say underneath which lies a vast oil reserve something along the lines of which we have never seen. I think you have many more that will listen to you. I implore you to persist in this matter. You where one of a select few that my Father Dr. Clifford H. Myers looked up to. You have the means and the power to convince people that this is a must.
I am certain that my Father prognosis of the events to follow will happen. (just a note my Father passed away almost 4 years ago) My Father said that some similar situation to what has happened would and it has, then in the aftermath we would upset the Islamic Zealots to the point that they would no longer send us oil and cripple what little backbone the US has left.
At this juncture I am sure that many would not mind if the price of gas went up say 10 to 15 cents a gallon so that we could do a host of things but mainly start the immediate exploration of the oil reserves in Alaska and elsewhere. I don't think we really have a choice. I also think people should be reminded that it is a non-renewable natural resource, I am not the sharpest tool in the shed and even I know this means it will be gone someday.
On a more personal note I wish more people would get off of their complacent rear ends and do what you have done for the people of the US.
Sincerely Yours,
Ellis* * * Yesterday and today you spent some time talking about economy issues but I need help understanding where money is coming from and was hoping that you could answer on your next show.First of all, I am well aware that stocks are down and the whole economy is showing signs of being "down in the dumps". Then in addition to this problem that Bush was trying to solve, we are attacked by terrorists.
We now have the airline corporations asking for 24 billion to save their industry. They are also saying that security measures should be something that is paid for by the federal government. New York city is asking for another 20 billion. I heard on the news today, that insurance companies are also going to be asking for help. Thousands and thousands of people are going to be applying for unemployment. Persons who lost one or both parents are going to be applying for social security benefits. Then today, I caught the end of a news broadcast and heard a political person (I didn't get to hear who) stating that he was going to make sure that child who lost a parent in this tragedy would be provided a college education. Where is it going to end? Where is all this money going to come from?
Unfortunately, I believe that this terrorist act is only the first of others to come. I do not believe that we can repair with tons of money each time. I think that people are getting caught up in the"feeling" of the situation and are not really thinking this through. If the government gives money to all these causes, and probably more to come, won't we be setting unwise precedents?Help. I can't figure this one out.
Thanks.

ELJORDO* * * Today (09/18), you ventured an opinion about why the attack on the USS COLE was not considered to be an act of war. The short version of your response was essentially that the incident involved military guys and life is hard.
Since our warships are considered to be a part of America no matter where they are, I believe that that analysis falls short. One might also ask, "Why wasn't the bombing of the World Trade Center considered to be an act of war?"
To use what might be a Washington euphemism, I believe that that there was a significant gonadal deficiency in the White House when both of these events occurred. Another possibility is that your opinion does have some merit, but it didn't go far enough (in the USS COLE example). Left unsaid is the notion that if the disaster (whatever it might be) involves military folks, it is somehow of less consequence because these people live risky lives.
I think that you're on shaky ground on this one.
To use a no-war example, if the space shuttle Challenger had had a military crew, I believe a different sequence of events would have played out. There would not have been as much press coverage. Honors would be rendered. Funerals held. Tears shed. Some somber talk on the evening news. And then... the burning question. "Can we move up the schedule on the next one? We're a little behind now."

* * * Please, if the USAF are going to go to the middle east and fight for the freedom of mankind, Please take the A-10's with you. They are the best tool for the job out there.... I am so worried that any forces are going to go out there and either get creamed, or hit the innocent people, who had nothing to do with the terrorism. In short, Take the Ten's.
Regards, a concerned individual who is hoping for the best but expecting the worst.
* * * As we are United in our stand against terrorism and continue to give to the Red Cross and United Way and others, I would like to make a suggestion and I am hoping someone with the wherewithall could help make this known to all.
If everyone in the US capable of paying for an airline ticket would make a reservation today on their favorite carrier - whether they plan to make that trip or not..... this would help the airline industry in a United way!!!

* * * Just a simple reminder on the proper flag etiquette.
Although overwhelmed at the show of pride by flying the colors. I am saddened by all the torn and soiled flags I'm seeing.People need to remember that the flag stands for more than current patriotism, it stands for all the lives given throughout our history to ensure we today can show our patriotism. To allow the colors to become tattered and worn, to become soiled and then just discarded cause it only cost a couple of dollars is unforgivable.
Those flags cost thousands of lives over the years....so remember to respect our flag and treat it accordingly.

* * * Subject: American Rudeness
In the wake of this terrible tragedy we are going through in America, one would think we would learn to be more tolerant of each other. Instead, I find just the opposite to be true. Maybe in New York people are being nicer to each other, but here in the mid-west, the so-called "Heartland of America", I am finding unbelievable acts of rude behavior in everyone's "quest" to be patriotic. People are racing to the stores to show their patriotism by buying red, white and blue ribbons, flags, bumper stickers and whatever else they can get. And they are runnig over their neighbor in the car next to them to be the first one at the store.
Customers in retail stores have become so inconsiderate of the sales people that they visit a store and, for want of a better word, TRASH the store looking for their red, white and blue items. And then have the nerve to get upset when the stores are out of ribbons or flags-and cannot tell them where to buy whatever it is the customer wants. Do you think retail outlets plan for great tragedies and stock pile 10,000 flags- just in case? And do you think that the poor store clerks are there only to pick up after you when you leave ice cream in the cereal aisle, Kleenex (used usually) tucked in furniture, or empty soda cans on the baseboards of shelves? WAKE UP!!!!! Store clerks are suffering this week, too! Some of them may be waiting for word of a loved one in New York or Washington or Pennsylvania. Some may be scared that by going to war- they may lose a loved one. Clerks do not need the added stresses of people coming up to them demanding they(the clerks) serve the customer immediately them regardless of what they are doing (usually waiting on another customer). They do not need to be yelled at because their store did not order enough "red, white & blue" whatevers in case some idiot decided to wage war on America. And they do not need to be cleaning up after you. If you want good service- be a good customer. Realize that the purpose of a sales person is to find you what you need and to help you make a good purchase and not pick up your trash. If you change your mind about an item- take it to the check out line rather than leave it laying someplace where it does not belong. Tell the checkout clerk you changed your mind-"no harm-no foul". This way it will not be in MY way when I go looking for what I need.
This country has become so "me-focused" that it takes a tragedy such as this week to shake the public up to realize the world includes many people. And yet, in their desire to show they care(?), people are ready to run over each other in the streets to get to the store to show their patriotism (definition-"love of country and willingness to sacrifice for it"). Where was this patritism Monday the 10th? If this is a true definition of patriotism- then let's start sacrificing a little of our own personal needs to really start thinking of others. And I do not mean this just in times of need. How about every day being nice to our neighbor? When was the last time you did not try to cut someone off when they were changing lanes? And when was the last time you did not try to drive into someone's back seat because they were going too slow? How about opening a door for someone, saying thank you, or just smiling?
America has come together this week to show they care by donating so much to those who have suffered this week- but at what cost? Will the person you were rude to yesterday save your butt today if tradegy strikes where you are? If you were rude to me- you'll be on your own! Think about it!* * * In my darkest moment, i have ties to love that only a few may understand meaning what we now need to do as a nation/world is to keep our union in tact. We all have power and capabilities that are far be on understanding.
Intelligence can be hard to determine in moments of grief though time/endurance leads to true success over power to pro-act in our planned operations, instead of react. We must lead our nation but in a since of anger and keep our anger ALIVE, with a since of control, anger can be positive to succeed our mission without being over active.
We must use the pure side of our hearts/soul, mind, and choose the proper physical action and remain calm we are all confident as a nation and we know that we have a history of pride though before all of this happened "PRIDE" Tore us apart and now nothing will! "God Bless America and the world"

* * * September 11th - A Day of What?
While the smoke continues to rise from last Tuesday's nefarious events on the East coast, most of us are turning our thoughts to what should be done about this day as we go forward. The obvious initial course is to comfort and aid the living, extract and bury the dead, ensure the on-going safety of all Americans in the coming months and years, solidify our institutions and economy, and lay the foundation for the greatest, longest, and most effective manhunt in the history of mankind.
But what about the day itself? Should September 11th forevermore become a national day of sad remembrance and mourning? Should shrines to the fallen and grassy parks and poignant edifices memorializing the event be constructed? Should re-runs of commercial airliners disappearing into one side of a building only to emerge from the other in a giant fireball be aired on television over and over on the anniversary date? Should the collapse of the twin towers of the World Trade Center be viewed and relived every year, year after year? Should grieving families be sympathetically re-interviewed and encouraged to emote renewed emotion? Should all such traditional remembrance activities implemented in the past be employed in the future?
I think not. We already have our December 7th.
What I think should be done and what I propose is a nationally recognized day be created to commemorate September 11th as the day when a paradigm shift occurred in this country; a day acknowledging the time we symbolically came together as a nation and re-focused on what America is really all about. It should be remembered as the day from which we emerged with a new resolve, perspective, and unity.
I propose that we create a national "Construction and Completion Day". I think that September 11th should forevermore be the day on which we formally celebrate and commemorate the positive and constructive accomplishments that we are introducing and building into our society and the world. I believe weshould use it as an occasion to formally tell and show ourselves and others the value of things that are emanating from within America. It should be a day associated with positive progress and wonderful good.
National Construction and Completion Day should be unlike any other national holiday in the United States. It should not be a day of leisure when workers are granted a day off from work. On the contrary, it should be a day for all to go to work with personal vigor and a resolve to achieve excellence. It should be a day characterized by the lowest corporate and governmental absentee rates of the year. Companies and workers should strive for and celebrate in that low rate. Members of families who lost loved ones in New York and Washington, D.C. should be invited to be guests of honor at ribbon cutting ceremonies for projects completed, announcements of new projects commenced, ships launched, and goals reached. Their lost loved ones, most of whom were at work and attending to tasks at the time of their deaths, should be formally and individually remembered in conjunction with these good, positive things that are occurring in the country to which they paid taxes and which they loved.
The aim of world terrorism is to dispirit us and disrupt our way of life. The terrorists would prefer that we disappear never to return, but they know they will have to settle for inflicting frequent pain on us to systematically stifle the freedoms that we so casually have been enjoying. National Construction and Completion Day will forevermore remind the world that the U.S. is a vital, continuing force for individual and personal freedom and will become a showcase day for the ingenuity and positive productivity that emanates from such freedom. The very existence of such a day will convey to all our national resolve, focus, and sense of purpose. It is an appropriate way to honor and remember over 5,000 working Americans who are no longer with us.

* * * Just finished listening to President's Speech to Congress and America. I have never been so moved before. I believe we have not only a great man in George Bush leading us, but a true patriot as well. In his speech he stated that America must maintain it's resolve in the long days ahead in this war on terrorism. In every war or battle a nation faces a battlecry is used to help to maintain that resolve.I therefore put to you that that battlecry was found in the President's own speech."We will not tire,we will not falter, we will not fail." These great words should rally every American and maintain the spirit of patriotism and resolve for years to come. They will for me.
God Bless AmericaLarry
* * * Bill Mauer
I just wanted to say that I both saw PI Wednesday night (after hearing that Bill Mauer had said something inapppropriate Monday nite (huh?)) and Mauer's further "apology" tonite on FOX. I did not, however hear your commentary on his show Thursday. My husband relayed that you agreed with his comments IF he meant that Clinton was a coward in lauching his attacks (and who could not agree with that?). I, however, heard "Bill M" in his intial comments regarding "We the cowards" and understood immediately that he was not communicating, that "we" meant, the military. No, what he meant was "we, the American people". "We" sit in our materialistic environments and are willing to allow our governement to launch attacks on "innocents." (in his typical liberal approach). He further communicated this in his talk with Bill O'Reilly when he was asked if he agreed that he was talking about "His boy, Clinton" when he said that cowardly politicians were launching these attacks. OF COURSE he did not agree that it was Clinton, but, instead blamed the American people for not communicating that we either did not want him (Clinton) to attack or that we disagreed with the attack once it happened. Mauer suggested that we had phones, email, news editorials and mail to oppose Clinton's actions and that no one, or a significantly insignificant number of people did. OH PLEASE. I, as a slightly overweight, highly-educated female, would be one of the last people in America to voice my opposition directly to Clinton, knowing his propensity toward same.
Mauer could not be more wrong.
First, in my opinion, if the USA can lauch attacks on our enemies without the sacrifice of American life, more power to us. Why is this wrong?
Second, if we can eradicate terroism without leaving our soil (would that it were so), WHY THE HELL NOT?
Finally, Bill Mauer excepted, WE ARE NOT THE COWARDS. As the Great Nation that we are, we will never be the cowards. We will never launch an attack on unsuspecting civilian citizens, we will never violate the Rules of Engagement, we will never begin a war on an unsuspecting civilians of a city not at war.
I further disagree that these terroists have struck a GREAT blow against America.
Yes, they tragecially killed 6000 of our citizens (which has not and will never go unnoticed and unfelt); yes, as a result, they personally and intimately affected approximately 600,000 of our citizents; and, yes, our Dow Jones has been affected. What the terrorists did not expect, however, is that while we CHOOSE to feel the horror and mourn our losses, they only ignited a fuse. Yes, 6000 Americans lost, but, the terrorists ANGERED and UNIFIED 270 MILLION Americans. We are human and will mourn our losses. And we will remember them. No one has a memory as long as that of the American citizen attacked. We now have 6000 memories, supported by 600,000 family members, friends and business associates. This has never happened before in the history of the World, and the terrorists are about to absorb America's unprecedented response to their actions. It may not be today, tomorrow or in this year. It will, undoubtedly, however, be in their lifetimes.* * * This is an excerpt from a piece written by Paul Craig Roberts
"George Tenet (head of CIA) is not responsible for the failure of U.S. intelligence. The Democratic Party took the James Bond out of the CIA a quarter century ago. It was the Clinton administration and some U.S. corporations that sold military communications equipments equipment that cannot be monitored to the terrorists, making the National Security Agency deaf to terrorist plans."
When are you going to start investigating the aftermath of the eight years of your two favorite lefties, the Clintons?
Sincerely,
Candy* * * I've been hearing a lot of talk about "bombing Afghanistan back to the Stone Age." Ronn Owens, on KGO Talk Radio today, allowed that this would mean killing innocent people, people who had nothing to do with this atrocity, but "we're at war, we have to accept collateral damage. What else can we do?" Minutes later I heard some TV pundit discussing whether we "have the belly to do what must be done."
And I thought about the issues being raised especially hard because I am from Afghanistan, and even though I've lived here for 35 years I've never lost track of what's going on there. So I want to tell anyone who will listen how it all looks from where I'm standing.
I speak as one who hates the Taliban and Osama Bin Laden. There is no doubt in my mind that these people were responsible for the atrocity in New York. I agree that something must be done about those monsters.
But the Taliban and Ben Laden are not Afghanistan. They're not even the government of Afghanistan. The Taliban are a cult of ignorant psychotics who took over Afghanistan in 1997. Bin Laden is a political criminal with a plan. When you think Taliban, think Nazis. When you think Bin Laden, think Hitler. And when you think "the people of Afghanistan" think "the Jews in the concentration camps." It's not only that the Afghan people had nothing to do with this atrocity. They were the first victims of the perpetrators. They would exult if someone would come in there, take out the Taliban and clear out the rats nest of international thugs holed up in their country.
Some say, why don't the Afghans rise up and overthrow the Taliban? The answer is, they're starved, exhausted, hurt, incapacitated, suffering. A few years ago, the United Nations estimated that there are 500,000 disabled orphans in Afghanistan--a country with no economy, no food. There are millions of widows. And the Taliban has been burying these widows alive in mass graves. The soil is littered with land mines, the farms were all destroyed by the Soviets. These are a few of the reasons why the Afghan people have not overthrown the Taliban.
We come now to the question of bombing Afghanistan back to the Stone Age. Trouble is, that's been done. The Soviets took care of it already. Make the Afghans suffer? They're already suffering. Level their houses?
Done. Turn their schools into piles of rubble? Done. Eradicate their hospitals? Done. Destroy their infrastructure? Cut them off from medicine and health care? Too late. Someone already did all that.New bombs would only stir the rubble of earlier bombs. Would they at least get the Taliban? Not likely. In today's Afghanistan, only the Taliban eat, only they have the means to move around. They'd slip away and hide. Maybe the bombs would get some of those disabled orphans, they don't move too fast, they don't even have wheelchairs. But flying over Kabul and dropping bombs wouldn't really be a strike against the criminals who did this horrific thing. Actually it would only be making common cause with the Taliban--by raping once again the people they've
been raping all this time.So what else is there? What can be done, then? Let me now speak with true fear and trembling. The only way to get Bin Laden is to go in there with ground troops. When people speak of "having the belly to do what needs to be done" they're thinking in terms of having the belly to kill as many as needed. Having the belly to overcome any moral qualms about killing innocent people. Let's pull our heads out of the sand. What's actually on the table is Americans dying. And not just because some Americans would die fighting their way through Afghanistan to Bin Laden's hideout. It's much bigger than that folks. Because to get any troops to Afghanistan, we'd have to go through Pakistan. Would they let
us? Not likely. The conquest of Pakistan would have to be first. Will other Muslim nations just stand by? You see where I'm going. We're flirting with a world war between Islam and the West. And guess what: that's Bin Laden's program. That's exactly what he wants. That's why he did this. Read his speeches and statements. It's all right there. He really believes Islam would beat the west. It might seem ridiculous, but he figures if he can polarize the world into Islam and the West, he's got a billion soldiers. If the west wreaks a holocaust in those lands, that's a billion people with nothing left to lose, that's even better from Bin Laden's point of view. He's probably wrong, in the end the west would win, whatever that would mean, but the war would last for years and millions would die, not just theirs but ours. Who has the belly for that? Bin Laden does. Anyone else?

Hijacker 'given anthrax flask by Iraqi agent'
BY DANIEL MCGRORY
INTELLIGENCE agents from Prague to Swansea are uncovering a trail of clues that point to President Saddam Hussein of Iraq having a hand in al-Qaedas terrorist missions.
Iraqi ministers have spent the week protesting Baghdads innocence to the United Nations, but will not say why some of its diplomats who met Mohammed Atta, one of the suspected September 11 hijackers, disappeared from their European posts after that date.Nor will Baghdad explain why Saddams agents were spotted at various times this year with Atta in Germany, Spain, Italy and the Czech Republic.
Many in the Pentagon are sure Saddam helped to orchestrate the simultaneous hijackings and the anthrax attacks, but President Bush and Tony Blair have yet to be convinced. To get proof of the Baghdad connection, senior officials in the Bush Administration even sent a former CIA Director to Britain on a covert mission.
Intelligence officers in Washington have deliberately leaked the testimony of an Iraqi defector hiding in Turkey who said that Saddam set up a terrorist training school on the outskirts of Istanbul to practice hijacking a Boeing passenger aircraft. The CIA says that it is assessing the claims.
Meanwhile, a special FBI team sent to Europe to uncover al-Qaeda cells say that they are studying a report from Prague that anthrax spores were given to Atta during his last meeting in Prague in April with Ahmed Khalil Ibrahim Samir al-Ani, the Iraqi consul. If it can be shown that Atta was given a flask of anthrax, a Western intelligence official said, then the link will have been made with Osama bin Laden and with Iraq.
What is known is that Atta made at least four visits to the Czech Republic to see Mr al-Ani. Czech intelligence officers who saw them embrace at Ruzyne Airport admit that they had no idea who the man greeting Saddams envoy was. When they were followed to the headquarters of Radio Free Europe the suspicion was that they may have been plotting to bomb it.
Yesterday the German newspaper Bild suggested a more sinister motive for their meetings. The claim, according to Israeli security sources, is that Atta was handed a vacuum flask of anthrax by his Iraqi contact. From Prague, it is believed Atta flew to Newark. From New Jersey, letters laced with anthrax were sent to broadcasters and politicians in New York, Washington and Florida. Czech officials have been to Washington to reveal all they know, but they cant question the Iraqi envoy because Mr al-Ani was deported from Prague in April for activities incompatible with his status as a diplomat.
Stanislav Gross, the Czech Interior Minister, confirmed yesterday a meeting in Prague between Atta and Mr al-Ani just weeks before the envoy was expelled.
US scientists believe the anthrax spores sent to Tom Daschle, the Senate Majority Leader, had been treated with a sophisticated chemical additive only three countries can manufacture: Russia, America and possibly Iraq.
Former UN weapons inspectors suggest that Saddam could have helped bin Laden to get nuclear material. Critics of the Pentagons view say that Iraq would not share its nuclear secrets, but might watch for others trying to buy on the black market.
Italian police say they are investigating how Saddam also used his Embassy in Rome to foster his partnership with al-Qaeda. One of Saddams intelligence agents, Habib Faris Abdullah al-Mamouri, was sent to be the new headmaster of a school for Iraqi diplomats in Italy. The bogus headmaster has not been seen in Rome since July, shortly after he also met Atta. The pair are also said to have been together in Hamburg and Prague.
There is no proof the men were in direct contact, but as one intelligence source in Madrid said: They chose a strange time and place to take a holiday. The Rome daily Il Messaggero, quoting Western intelligence sources, said of Mr al-Mamouri that he spent more time pursuing contacts helpful to the Iraqi regime among fundamentalist Islamic groups than he had on his supposed teaching duties.
Italian officials say that Mr al-Mamouri held the rank of general in the Iraqi secret service, and from 1982 to 1990 worked in the Special Operations Branch forging Baghdads links with Islamic fundamentalist groups in Pakistan, Afghanistan, the Gulf and Sudan. He was transferred to his teaching duties in 1998, although all the Iraqi Embassy will say of his sudden departure is that he had money problems.
Although Colin Powell, the US Secretary of State, and others in his department are sceptical of Saddams involvement, there are many influential figures in US intelligence who claim that Iraqs links with bin Laden go back to the early Nineties.
Desperate for allies after the Gulf War, Saddam sent Faruq Hijazi, his secret service director, to Sudan in 1994, where bin Laden then had his headquarters. The meetings were brokered by Hassan al-Tourabi, the Sudanese Muslim leader, who was bin Ladens protector. The Sudanese belatedly offered to show the CIA all they knew about bin Laden and his visits, to ingratiate themselves back into the international fold, but the Americans scorned the approach.
The Iraqi connection with bin Laden continued when the terrorist leader moved to Afghanistan. Mr Hijazi, who is now Saddams envoy in Turkey, reportedly met the al-Qaeda leader at his fortified home in Kandahar and in Kabul.
Mr Hijazi also disappeared from his embassy last month after the first reports of his meetings with al-Qaeda, and he is believed to have slipped back into Ankara earlier this week. The Foreign Ministry in Turkey says it has not been told that the Ambassador had returned, although the Iraqi Embassy says that he is resting. What puzzles Turkish officials is that there are no airport records of his return.
US Intelligence says Saddam cultivated the relationship with al-Qaeda at the start of 1998 by inviting the man regarded as bin Ladens deputy Ayman Zawahiri to dine with Taha Yasin Ramadan, the Iraqi Vice-President. That was such a success that a delegation from al-Qaeda attended Saddams birthday celebrations that April, and it was during this trip that arrangements were made for bin Laden recruits to receive the sort of advanced weapons training they could not get in their camps in Afghanistan.
The hand-picked bin Laden agents found themselves under the supervision of Saddams violent son, Uday, who wanted to conscript some of bin Ladens skilled fighters into his own militia. Bin Laden reciprocated by dispatching 400 Afghan Arabs to Iraq to fight Kurds.
The most curious attempt to implicate Saddam was in South Wales last month when James Woolsey, the former CIA Director, is reported to have visited a Swansea college. The hope was that the testimony of college lecturers and recollections of former students could be used to convince sceptics in the US Administration and Downing Street that Saddam has helped to provide agents to carry out al-Qaeda attacks.
Mr Woolsey, who refuses to give details of his British itinerary, has always believed that the Iraqi leader masterminded the 1993 terrorist bombing of the World Trade Centre.
The trip to the Swansea Institute was to establish the true identity of one of bin Ladens bombers, who claims to have studied computer-aided engineering in South Wales.

* * * Where is the Islamic outrage for the prostitution of their beliefs?
Where is the Moslem task force cleaning up their act? I don't see the proaction. All I see are excuses, foot dragging and finger pointing
* * * Here are a few things that if we are going to fight this war on terrorism effectively we need to do:
1. Reform or restructure the FDA- It takes about 7 years and costs millions of dollars to get vacines and drugs approved. God help us if we are attacked with smallpox or hemoragic fever.
2. Cut the pork out of government- Obviously this will save money for more important programs that will help us fight this war.
3. Eliminate or Restrict Agriculture subsidies- Big multinational agriculture firms and niche farmers and ranchers don't need protection from failure. We don't need to support Ted Turner's buffalo herds or blueberry farmers.
4. Clean-up the bookkeeping at the Pentagon- The Congress and the President both don't know where all the money goes. If there's a program that is no longer needed we need to know, eliminate it and move the money to more pressing military needs.
5. Handle the entitlements- These ungainly programs will diminish our ability to fight this war unless there are structural changes in some of these programs, ex. Social Security, or if some of them are eliminated, ex. the Minority Business Administration in the Commerce Department.
6. Simplify the tax code- There's a bi-partisan study that if placed into law would do this, it would cut the cost of IRS enforcement, and reduce the public's need for accountants. No wonder H. & R. Block and others aren't for simplification.
7. Cut out the political correctness surrounding the discussion of drug resistant diseases- AIDS was declared a national security threat by the Clinton Administration's Donna Shalala, but then she said it had nothing to do with our lax sexual mores. I know this will offend gays, porn stars, prostitutes, swingers and other assorted perverts, but the facts are facts and if we ignore them we will only hurt our love ones, eventually. There already are drug resistant strains of Tuberculosis just south of the border. Then you have terrorists who if suicidal enough could take advantage of this situation and infect several thousand within a singular day.
Just some things we need to do.* * * THIS YEAR, INSTEAD OF THE PERSON OF THE YEAR, IT SHOULD BE THE PEOPLE OF THE YEAR AND THAT IS NOW OBVIOUS TO ME FOR IT IS THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES.
WHY? WELL, LET ME TELL YOU WHY?
1. AFTER THE SEPTEMBER 11 EVENT, WE STOOD TOGETHER AND HELP RESCUE AND RECOVER THE FALLEN AMERICANS.
2. AFTER THE SEPTEMBER 11 EVENT, WE JOINED TOGETHER AND RAISED ALMOST A BILLION DOLLARS IN FUNDS FOR THE FAMILIES OF THE FALLEN AMERICANS.
3. AFTER THE SEPTEMBER 11, WE, THE JUST PEOPLE OF THIS NATION, RAISED UP TOGETHER AND JUSTLY SOUGHT OUT THOSE RESPONSIBLE FOR THAT DREADFUL DAY EVENT AND BROUGHT JUSTICE DOWN ONTO THEM.
4. AND BECAUSE ONCE WE, THE JUST PEOPLE OF THIS NATION STOOD TOGETHER AND SOUGHT THOSE RESPOSIBLE, THE REST OF THE WORLD GOT OUT OF THE WAY FOR THEY KNEW WHAT WAS ABOUT TO COME.
SO, THE PERSON OF THE YEAR SHOULD ACTUALLY BE THE PEOPLE OF THE YEAR, WHICH IS THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES AND ALL THOSE WHO STANDS ALONG WITH US.
THOUGH, THERE IS ONE THING THAT DOES BOTHER ME, AND THAT'S THE SAUDI ARABIAN GOVERNMENT/TYCOONS, FOR THEY HAVE SPONSORED SUCH ACTIVITIES UPON US. ONLY WE SUCH PEOPLE CAN MAKE THEM PAY FOR WHAT THEY HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO. WE SUCH PEOPLE CAN ALSO CREATE NEW ENERGY TO CONTINUE OUR DAILY ACTIVITIES. ONLY WE PEOPLE CAN ALSO GO ELSEWHERE.
* * * Thought this would be interesting to you so am fowarding it to you...it has surely made me feel different about the situation..
Sincerely
Tim

Some very interesting stats...By now everyone has been hearing the death toll rise and reports of the destruction from the terrorist attacks on the US. These were deplorable acts that we will never forget. But now is a time to look at the other side of the numbers coming out of New York, Washington and Pennsylvania.
The sad but somewhat uplifting side that the mainstream media has not reported yet - the SURVIVAL rates and some positive news about the attacks.

were places of employment for some 50,000 people. With the missing list of just over 5,000 people, that means 90% of the people targeted survived the attack. A 90% on a test is an 'A'.
* The Pentagon - Some 23,000 people were the target of a third plane aimed at the Pentagon. The latest count shows that only 123 lost their lives. That is an amazing 99.5% survival rate. in addition, the plane seems to have come in too low, too early to affect a large portion of the building. On top of that, the section that was hit was the first of five sections to undergo renovations that would help protect the Pentagon from terrorist attacks. It had recently completed straightening and blast proofing, saving untold lives. This attack was sad, but a statistical failure.
*** The Planes ***
* American Airlines Flight 77
This Boeing 757 that was flown into the outside of the Pentagon could have carried up to 289 people, yet only 64 were aboard. Luckily 78% of the seats were empty.
* American Airlines Flight 11 - This Boeing 767 could have had up to 351 people aboard, but only carried 92. Thankfully 74% of the seats were unfilled.
* United Airlines Flight 175 - Another Boeing 767 that could have sat 351 people only had 65 people on board. Fortunately it was 81% empty.
* United Airlines Flight 93 -This Boeing 757 was one of the most uplifting stories yet. The smallest flight to be hijacked with only 45 people aboard out of a possible 289 had 84% of its capacity unused. Yet these people stood up to the attackers and thwarted a fourth attempted destruction of a national landmark, saving untold numbers of lives in the process.
*** In Summary ***
Out of potentially 74,280 Americans directly targeted by these inept cowards, 93% survived or avoided the attacks. That's a higher survival rate than heart attacks, breast cancer, kidney transplants and liver transplants - all common, survivable illnesses. The Hijacked planes were mostly empty, the Pentagon was hit at it's strongest point, the overwhelming majority of people in the World Trade Center buildings escaped, and a handful of passengers gave the ultimate sacrifice to save even more lives.
Pass this information on to those in fear and the media. Don't fear these terrorists. The odds are against them.
* * * This "liberal" democrat says, all three share some blame for what transpired on Sept. 11, some more than others. Carter earns the worst grades for his role in dumping the Shah of Iran who had control and we had a footing. Geo. Bush could have and should have taken Sadaam, and Bill Clinton just plain wimped out. As a "liberal" democrat I refused to even listen to Clinton, remote control zappping him during his entire second term. A bald-faced liar is a bald-faced liar, so why even listen.

* * * I think you are right on, Rush. Clinton is at fault for 9/11 and Bush is getting most of the blame. While Clinton was under the desk with Monica he was letting millions of people into our country and he had no Idea who they were. If he let 20 al queda hijackers in how many serial killers, child molesters and other terrorists did he let in? I dont think we will ever know the total damage that came from Clintons open doors imigration policy. I think it is an obvious consensus by the media to not put any of the blame on to Clinton and all of it on to Bush and the CIA AND FBI. Keep up the good work Rush, you are one of the only keepers of the truth in the media world.
Thank you so much,
