Attention Peter Jennings (pg 1 of 2)
Dear Peter- The White House
and Air Force One were targets.
Your job is to read the news, not to attack the Secret Service
and put our President in harms way. It is the job of the Secret
Service to keep the President alive!
Sorry ABC... President Bush will not be a sitting duck.
Jennings' network has the lowest ratings - they should have NO ratings.

Jennings Should Apologize!
I sat watching and listening to the horrible events
unfolding yesterday as terrorists struck out against America.
It was with utter sadness and disgust that I listened to Peter
Jennings make negative comments about the whereabouts of our President
Bush, critical of him for not being in Washington. Our country
was hurting in more ways than can be imagined and he was trying
to drive a wedge in the solidarity that was happening. I firmly
believe that he needs to apologize to the President and the UNITED
States of America for his commentary. I was also happy to hear
that Rush Limbaugh made it a topic of his radio show today.

The latest insult to this country from ABC is that
the news commentators will not be wearing red, white & blue
ribbons/pins in support of this great country. What planet are
the administrators of this station from? Could it be that the
vast terrorist network has funding in this network and is calling
the shots? Is it because Peter Jennings is not from this country?
What is going on?
I know that I will not be getting my news or wasting my television
viewing time on this station.

I am irate! I have been watching Peter Jennings
on ABC news, report about the terrorist attacks. This man is out
of control! He has been criticizing President Bush all morning
for not making his whereabouts known. Does he want the terrorists
to know where our president is so they can try to kill him too?
This man owes all of America an immediate apology! Please check
into this and if you agree, ask your listeners to demand this
left winger resign immediately!
Just to show what kind of a "thinker" this man is; Earlier
Jennings wondered aloud, after the plane had struck one of the
towers, "I don't understand how or why this building is collapsing"?
Even a 3 year old child would be able to figure that out !
Thank you,
Gary

Mr. Jennings, you seem to have abandoned common
decency when it is most needed ...and in that light you have failed
miserably.
I and thousands of citizens are appalled by your
editorializing.......Mr. Jennings, if the Congress and Senate
can put partician politics aside at this time and you cant, then
the respect I and other citizens have had for you is only redeemable
if you offer a public apology or if ABC fires you. Be assured,
this opinion is not just a few individuals, it is a firestorm
in chat rooms, coffee shops, work places and on telephones across
this country...
Why would you display such disrespect for the office
of the President of the united States...your editorializing which
implied President Bush was not rising to the occasion yesterday
because he was out of sight for several hours and response today
(when noting that the President may visit the sites in NYC and
DC) that you were sure the rescuers would not welcome a politician
(the President) at this time, is an affront to the needed rallying
of our citizens and politicians... you use to be better than that
in the midst of national tragedy, perhaps you have outgrown your
effectiveness and ability to report the news.........Shame on
you.... and shame on ABC for tolerating this.........

ABC News anchor Peter Jennings has been besieged
with more than 10,000 angry phone calls and e-mail messages for
something he never said. He has been accused of criticizing President
Bush on the air on September 11 for not returning directly to
the White House after the attacks. (Bush was in Florida promoting
his education initiatives at the time the World Trade Center and
the Pentagon were attacked by terrorists.) But Jennings never
criticized Bush. Or implied it.
Conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh,
who relied solely on an e-mail from a friend that denounced Jennings,
said on his radio show: "Little Peter couldn't understand
why George Bush didn't address the nation sooner than he did and
even made snide comments like, 'Well, some presidents are just
better at it than others,' and 'Maybe it's wise that certain presidents
just not try to address the people of the country.'" Limbaugh
then described Jennings as "foolish, whining, babyish, unrealistic
selfishness on the part of liberals." According to The Washington
Post, when Jennings learned that President Bush was going to an
Air Force base in Louisiana, he said: "None of us should
be surprised" that the Secret Service takes his safety "with
deep and profound seriousness," adding there was a "psychological"
aspect because "the country looks to the president on occasions
like this to be reassuring to the nation. Some presidents do it
well, some presidents don't." Limbaugh has retracted his
criticism of the news anchor, and the conservative Media Research
Center says the Jennings comments were either "never uttered,
distorted or taken out of context."

On a day when such horrific and cataclysmic events
have taken place before our eyes on our televisions, an almost
unbelievable side bar is being played out on network television
ABC, NBC, & CBS. The illiberal and ignoble ilk, "Rather,
Brocaw, and Jennings of the liberal media", insinuate by
innuendo that somehow Bush is not doing all that is possible,
is being aloof, and not quite awake at the helm. Talk about your
inane, agenda driven, disingenuous groups! Truly these are patriotic
Americans, each and everyone, including Peter.
I am an angry American veteran, who would like to take the boys
and girls of the liberal media biased media by the nape and place
them in front of a mirror and say; now boys and girls take a good
look at "WHY" the events of 9-11-01 were allowed to
occur. Are you going to continuing the bellyaching and whining
to the American people about cutting the useless and exorbitant
budgets of the CIA, FBI, and the military in favor of some left-
sided programs designed to garner more liberal votes instead of
truly helping people?
Are we going to continue to hear and see about the
"rights" of the disadvantaged terrorists? Are we going
to hear about... I am sure that you understand how this could
go on and on and on.

Absolutely Jennings of ABC is out of control, he

enough to know that the presidents safety is of utmost importance

As i am sure this is not the only comment you may get like this,
i find it rather convenient you do not respond to comments.
I am very concerned that Peter Jennings was unable
to restrain his personal hatred for President Bush during a crisis
time in our country. I am ashamed of his characterization and
this could not have come at a worse time. your precious anchor
was divisive and ugly at a time which called for otherwise. it
is my hope that your failing station will make plans to reporting

to see an apology from such harmful statements from Mr Jennings

(I sent the following email to ABC News this morning)
Yesterday (Sept. 11), as I watched with coworkers
as World News Tonight anchor Peter Jennings reported on the World
Trade Center and Pentagon attacks, I was shocked when he criticized
President Bush for not returning to DC as soon as Mr. Jennings
thought he should.
The last time I checked, Mr. Jennings was not in
charge of national security. I am also quite sure that the Presidents
security arrangements were predetermined by a contingency plan
made by others, not the President himself.
Mr. Jennings political views are no secret, and
it is certainly OK for everyone in this country to have his own
opinion. Even Canadians. It is inexcusable for a media personality
to use a tragedy like this to further his own partisan political
views.
As ABC News is alleged to be news programming rather
than editorial, I would appreciate it if Mr. Jennings would stick
to reporting facts, and allow the American people to form their
own opinions.

I was appalled by the comments of Peter Jennings
September 11, 2001 referring to President Bush. His comment that
President Bush should "quit hiding behind the Secret Service,
come out and face the Nation and explain 'The President's Failure'
to protect the country from these terrorists attacks."
As far as I am concerned, this is at best "the lowest form
of attack and unworthy of any news organization" and at worst
could be considered an act of "Treason."
I want you to know that I am asking all of my friends
and acquaintances to join me in a boycott of ABC-all programs
as all times--and will not watch your network again as long as
Peter Jennings is an ABC employee.
While people are removed from the air for using "politically
incorrect" words, the words of Peter Jennings are orders
of magnitude more egregious and offensive than any of these other
"offenses."
I request, no I demand, that you fire Peter Jennings forthwith
for his lack of journalistic integrity and his attack on the President
during this National Crisis.
Sincerely,
Billy

While surfing the channels, I stopped on ABC to
view the phenomenal footage of the second crash taken by freelance
photographer Evan Bradfield (I'm not certain about his last name).
After briefly talking with Evan, Jennings shook his hand saying
thanks for the footage and we're glad you weren't hurt. The thing
that infuriated me was the fact that the pompous @#! couldn't
take his mug out of the camera lense, turn 90 degrees and look
Evan in the eye for a couple seconds as he shook his hand. The
epitome of rudeness.
On yet another occasion, while surfing, Jennings was receiving
a report from a female reporter from Washington DC, and he stopped
her because of one word. corrected he substituting his choice
of a word saying. "Isn't that what you really mean?"
She hadn't made any mistake, Jennings is so self important, he
had to impose his style.

As the tragedy unfolded before my eyes on TV, I
watched each channel for a while...ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, and then
make the rounds again. I just happened to hear Peter Jennings
suggesting that the president should be in Washington calming
the people and that he should make an appearance in New York.
Also, he (and maybe other networks did this, too) told where the
president was going..Barksdale AFB in LA and Offutt AFB in Nebraska.
I immediately thought to myself. YOU NITWIT!! I felt like reaching
through that TV screen and throttling him myself. Does he not
understand that the first and foremost thing under these situations
to protect the president?? It doesn't matter who the president
is...protect him.
I thought I was the only person feeling this way about Peter Jennings
until I happened to hear your radio broadcast as I was driving
in my car. I could hardly wait to get home and put in my two cents
worth. I HAVEN'T WATCHED PETER Jennings SINCE & THAT'S NOT
ALL...I'LL NEVER WATCH HIM AGAIN!!!

I was watching a local NYC news broadcast. They
were talking to some of the rescue workers and listening to their
stories of what had happened. A fireman was crying talking about
the bodies falling out of the sky and hitting the street. A man
and woman holding hands jumped instead of being burned toe their
deaths.
How on earth can someone like Peter Jennings make such shameful
personal political comments at a time like this? I just sent an
e-mail to ABC, in addition to not viewing their news, I plan to
write the advertisers and boycott their products. Lets crash the
ABC e-mail.

Peter Jennings and a correspondent just stated that
the detention of 10 individuals at JFK yesterday was an "over-reaction".
I suppose that this same Peter Jennings would be deploring the
lack of security at JFK had this pilot (with false identification
and an address the same as some of the terrorists, albeit a coincidence),
actually been a terrorist who was allowed to continue on his travels
just by relating this same story to authorities. Who does Peter
Jennings think is protecting him? He is obviously just looking
for ANY type of criticism so he can hear himself talk. I called
the Buffalo, NY affiliate station WKBW to complain and changed
to another local station. I will no longer EVER listen to this
idiot, Peter Jennings again and I urge ABC to consider replacing
him ASAP.

I have sent an e-mail to ABC News demanding that
Peter Jennings make a public apology regarding his blatant reporting
just following the collapse of the World Trade Centers -- His
comments regarding our President not returning to Washington were

Bush not being a legitimate representative of this Country because
of the election last fall -- ABC News should take Peter Jennings

Having read most of the other e-mails regarding
the so-called "News anchor", I was relieved to see that
I was NOT alone in my un-understanding of this jerk. The only
reason I had him on was that my satellite subscription had run

until i read a few of the e-mails on rush's website,
i thought it was just me...that thought peter Jennings unleashed
a really cheap shot at the president re his whereabouts while
our country was under sneak-attack on Tuesday. Jennings' blatant
political partisanship and uninformed criticism at such a critical
time were neither appreciated by this viewer nor were they constructive
to a vulnerable and violated nation. i concur with apparently
many other that Jennings owes our president and the nation an
apology. i will not watch ABC again until this occurs.

I made another error today while changing channels
on my TV. I stopped too long on ABC while Peter Jennings was talking
to George Stephonohlis (sorry about the spelling). They were talking
about Bush having a 91% rating on this date. Jennings, in talking
to George Steph...., poses the question on how Americans can change
their support so quickly from an "ILLEGAL" (quickly
changed it to ILLEGITIMATE) President (election)....You can get
the exact language if you are able to locate the transcript. This
conversation took place at approximately 3:20 (EST) on 9/14/01.

I wrote the President immediately when I heard Peter
Jennings say that the President won illegitimately at 2:20 PM
CT on ABC news commentary on the New York tragedy Friday the 14th.
I did not like him before this, and that comment just cemented
that feeling. He does not belong on the new service as far as
I and a whole bunch of people feel. Peter Jennings showed his
cold, unfeeling, unconcerned, lack of dignity, and stupidity.

How do you make your comments known by ABC and Jennings.
I couldn't say it any better than what many have already commented.
It amazes me that the media want to report to all the whereabouts

these people are to national security... Peter should not only
apologize, he should resign... this administration make things
pretty clear... I love it!

Jennings not only was insulting with his behavior
and comments about the whereabouts of the President, he was unable
to remember Ted Olson's wife's name - "Is her name Barbara?"
he asked. As if he didn't know. He is shameless and a disgrace. Also,
please try to interview Judy Miller, a professor of history at
Emory University in Atlanta, who is telling her students that
this tragedy is all the fault of the US and that if we don't cooperate
(with whom is unclear), we will pay an awful price, bigger than
the WTC calamity. Please interview her so she can"defend"
her position to you and a listening public that won't be as easily
intimidated and subdued by her as her vulnerable students.

Regarding Peter Jennings
I too launched an e-mail to ABC, I thought I was
the only one in America that was so incredibly ANGRY with him
and ABC. I was really upset by his remarks that ...'it seems to
me President Bush is the only person in the USA that does not
consider Iran an enemy'.... he has no idea how harmful he is being
in trying to sabotage the solidarity that our great country needs
so desperately right now! I hope he is fired and replaced ASAP,
it would be so nice to see a little good to come out of this situation.

I too exercised my little bit of power and switched from ABC
with Jennings' first anti-Bush blatherings. Shoot, I voted on
Gore, but this damn sure isn't the time for the US to give anything
less than full support to a man who is showing a quiet compassion
and strength a lot of us didn't think he possessed. He has changed
a heck of a lot of minds. Email ABC and tell them to boot Jennings.
Editorializing belongs on the op/ed page for God's sake.
Interesting side note:
As liberal as Dan Rathers has shown himself to be, besides a
couple of tiny jabs he has been remarkably supportive of Bush.
Even George Steph has kept the partisan rhetoric down....

Dear Rush, Last week I was watching ABC when Peter Jennings made
the following comment. Mr.. Jennings was talking about President

I, too, changed my viewing of Sep 11th events from ABC to FOX
because of Mr Peter Jennings' droning on and on about the where
abouts of our President. In addition, I was appalled at his rudeness

ABC's and Peter Jennings side of the Story, as reported by the
Washington Post.
Peter Jennings, in the News for What He Didn't Say
By Howard Kurtz/ Washington Post
Peter Jennings has been flooded with so many complaints that his
phone line has effectively been disabled. All over something he
didn't say. ABC has received more than 10,000 angry calls and
e-mails since its veteran anchor was reported -- erroneously --
to have criticized President Bush for not returning directly to
the White House after the attacks on New York and Washington.
"It's very depressing to me and terribly depressing for
him," says Paul Friedman, ABC News's executive vice president.
"He's really disturbed by it. He says, rightly, 'I've done
a pretty good job and people are quoting me out of context and
inaccurately to hurt me.' And it really does hurt."
Rush Limbaugh, relying on a friend's e-mail message, denounced
Jennings -- "this fine son of Canada" -- for "insulting
comments toward President Bush." He said that "Little
Peter couldn't understand why George Bush didn't address the nation
sooner than he did, and even made snide comments like, 'Well,
some presidents are just better at it than others,' and 'Maybe
it's wise that certain presidents just not try to address the
people of the country.' " This, said Limbaugh, was a prime
example of "foolish, whining, babyish, unrealistic selfishness
on the part of liberals."
The radio host made a full on-air retraction after ABC protested.
"Let it be known here, ladies and gentlemen, that when we
think we are wrong here . . . we will correct this and be upfront
about it, so as to avoid any uncertain angst and unnecessary angst
on the part of our colleagues at ABC, who likewise are only interested
in getting it right." The conservative Media Research Center
says the Jennings comments were either "never uttered, distorted
or taken out of context."
Afternoon on Sept. 11, when Air Force One did not return to Washington,
Jennings wondered where Bush was. After learning Bush had gone
to an Air Force base in Louisiana, Jennings said "none of
us should be surprised" that the Secret Service takes his
safety "with deep and profound seriousness." He added
there was a "psychological" aspect because "the
country looks to the president on occasions like this to be reassuring
to the nation. Some presidents do it well, some presidents don't."
After Bush addressed the nation, Jennings said Bush's quoting
of the Bible "will just sit so appropriately" with many
Americans. Some of the negative e-mails hit ABC even before Limbaugh's
comments. Another wave was unleashed when the Web site NewsMax.com
published Jennings's phone number and e-mail address. "His
telephone is full of vitriol, really awful stuff,"
Friedman says. "You ought to be able to say, 'Some presidents
do it well and some presidents don't,' without it being taken
in a partisan way, especially when later in the day he made it
clear he thought the president had done pretty well."

Mr. Jennings:
I have no idea if you have read the following comments. Just

and you have no right to criticize our President! Whether
you agree with his politics or not, whether or not you like the
outcome of the election, or whether or not you like or agree
with him as a person, DOES NOT GIVE YOU THE RIGHT TO BELITTLE
AND CRITICIZE HIM ON NATIONAL TELEVISION. I AGREE WITH ONE
OF THE LETTERS THAT SAYS YOU SHOULD BE TRIED FOR TREASON! But
I'll settle for your apology and resignation from ABC! That
is, unless ABC sees fit to fire you prior to your coming to your
senses on this issue, which will mean that they have come to their
senses. I'm joining the boycott of ABC and all its advertisers. Because
you see, I am a native-born, U.S. citizen and I am proud of my
President! He and his Administration are doing an overwhelmingly
better job than the previous administration who had no morals
or values, and dragged the decency of the American public through
moral decline and decay! It will take us years to rid ourselves

Please do the American public and yourself a favor: resign

(I sent the following email to ABC News this morning)
Yesterday (Sept. 11), as I watched with coworkers as World News
Tonight anchor Peter Jennings reported on the World Trade Center
and Pentagon attacks, I was shocked when he criticized President
Bush for not returning to DC as soon as Mr. Jennings thought he
should.
The last time I checked, Mr. Jennings was not in charge of national
security. I am also quite sure that the Presidents security arrangements
were predetermined by a contingency plan made by others, not the
President himself.
Mr. Jennings political views are no secret, and it is certainly
OK for everyone in this country to have his own opinion. Even
Canadians. It is inexcusable for a media personality to use a
tragedy like this to further his own partisan political views.
As ABC News is alleged to be news programming rather than editorial,
I would appreciate it if Mr. Jennings would stick to reporting
facts, and allow the American people to form their own opinions.

I was appalled by the comments of Peter Jennings September 11,
2001 referring to President Bush. His comment that President Bush
should "quit hiding behind the Secret Service, come out and
face the Nation and explain 'The President's Failure' to protect
the country from these terrorists attacks."
As far as I am concerned, this is at best "the lowest form
of attack and unworthy of any news organization" and at worst
could be considered an act of "Treason."
I want you to know that I am asking all of my friends and acquaintances
to join me in a boycott of ABC-all programs as all times--and
will not watch your network again as long as Peter Jennings is
an ABC employee.
Sincerely,
Billy

As the tragedy unfolded before my eyes on TV, I watched each
channel for a while...ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, and then make the rounds
again. I just happened to hear Peter Jennings suggesting that
the president should be in Washington calming the people and that
he should make an appearance in New York. Also, he (and maybe
other networks did this, too) told where the president was going..Barksdale
AFB in LA and Offutt AFB in Nebraska. I immediately thought to
myself..YOU NITWIT!! I felt like reaching through that TV screen
and throttling him myself. Does he not understand that the first
and foremost thing under these situations to protect the president??
It doesn't matter who the president is...protect him.
I thought I was the only person feeling this way about Peter
Jennings until I happened to hear your radio broadcast as I was
driving in my car. I could hardly wait to get home and put in
my two cents worth. I HAVEN'T WATCHED PETER Jennings SINCE &
THAT'S NOT ALL...I'LL NEVER WATCH HIM AGAIN!!!

Peter Jennings
I was watching a local NYC news broadcast. They were talking
to some of the rescue workers and listening to their stories of
what had happened. A fireman was crying talking about the bodies
falling out of the sky and hitting the street. A man and woman
holding hands jumped instead of being burned toe their deaths.
How on earth can someone like Peter Jennings make such shameful
personal political comments at a time like this? I just sent an
e-mail to ABC, in addition to not viewing their news, I plan to
write the advertisers and boycott their products. Lets crash the
ABC e-mail.

Peter Jennings and a correspondent just stated that the detention
of 10 individuals at JFK yesterday was an "over-reaction".
I will no longer EVER listen to this
idiot, Peter Jennings again and I urge ABC to consider replacing
him ASAP.

Peter Jennings
The comments made by Peter Jennings regarding the whereabouts
of the President of the United States George W. Bush were despicable
and totally unprofessional. After watching ABC News for many years,
I now join with so many others to say no longer will I be a viewer
of this biased and unpatriotic news cast.

I have sent an e-mail to ABC News demanding that Peter Jennings
make a public apology regarding his blatant reporting just following
the collapse of the World Trade Centers -- His comments regarding
our President not returning to Washington were totally uncalled
for, as well as his comments regarding our President Bush not
being a legitimate representative of this Country because of the
election last fall -- ABC News should take Peter Jennings off
the air immediately -- A campaign should begin to remove this
man from the airwaves!
Thank you.
