Attention "Peace" Demonstrators ... Bill Clinton tried "peace" 3 times.
(1) The 1st bombing of the World Trade Center in 1993;
(2) The bombing of our two embassies;
(3) The bombing of the U.S.S. Cole. In all cases, American were murdered!
Then we all witnessed MASS MURDER in New York and Washington. In all of recorded history... when evil attacks and attacks, peace talks never work.
Peace talks also failed to stop Adolf Hitler... in fact, they gave him encouragement! The terrorists are not interested in talking... they just want to kill America. * * * I listened yesterday with a mixture of humor, anger, frustration, and sadness to your conversation with the man who called in to announce that he and his group were "declaring peace" in the light of our government's announcement of possible military strikes against terrorists. Part of me is incredulous that this could be starting already, while we are still raw from the wounds of last week. Part of me was already braced for this expression of sentiment. I would like to make some points based on my reaction to that call.
1) His statements reminded me a lot of the Vietnam era slogan, "What if there was a war and nobody came." What a nice idea. However, I've never known of a war that actually worked that way. The ones I've read about started with an aggressor. If the other side showed up, the aggressor either retreated, or stayed to fight. If the other side didn't show up, the aggressor kept coming until he had taken everything he wanted. That's why they are called aggressors. They have one of 2 objectives: They either want what the other side has, and if they meet no resistance, they will take it; or, they don't want the other side to have the privileges and prosperity the other side has always enjoyed, so the aggressor attempts to destroy them.
For a long time now, Americans have bought into the idea that if we're just nice enough to someone, they will suddenly become nice too. We have done our best to rationalize every evil act as the consequence of someone not being nice to the perpetrator at some point in his life. We have decided that, in the event that someone is mean to us, even if we have been nice, we should figure out what we did to make that person be mean to us, because it must be our fault. By all means, We should NEVER do anything that might make them be mean to us again.
No matter how many times we're bitten, there is always someone out there trying to reform rattle snakes. Be nice to the rattle snake; it will turn into a teddy bear. Right. A rattlesnakes will always be a rattlesnake. You either keep it out of your vicinity, or you take measures to keep it from biting you. You can't show it enough love to change its nature. Ted Bundy commits mass murder and someone blames it on his terrible childhood. It was someone else's fault. Terrorists attempt to destroy our country. It's because the United States was mean to them in the past; we need to be nicer. We blame it on the terrorists' poverty. How poor is Osama Bin Laden? He inherited hundred of millions of dollars, which he has used to finance terror. I don't feel sorry for him.
The truth remains that there are countless people who had truly miserable childhoods who managed to grow up and not kill anyone. Likewise, there are millions of people in this world who are impoverished and have not hijacked airplanes and run them through the World Trade Center and Pentagon. The first murder that I know of as being documented occurred in the Old Testament. Cain murdered Abel, and it wasn't because Cain was impoverished, or because Abel was directing air strikes at him. It was because Cain was jealous of Abel, and in his bitterness, he committed murder. It was a character flaw in Cain's personality that caused him to disregard human life. It is the same with criminals and terrorists.
2) To piggyback on this a little, the man's reasoning was out of whack anyway. From the advice I've read regarding how to deal with attackers and personal self-defense, the experts are now saying that the best thing you can do during an attack is to fight back, even to your own death. If you give in, or do nothing, you're probably going to die anyway. I think the same principal applies.
3) Pit bull dogs are bred to be killers. Anyone will tell you that, once a pit bull dog gets that killer instinct, it's virtually impossible to get it out of them. The only way to protect society from that killer is to put the dog away. When we see pictures of Palestinian children cheering on TV in celebration over this terrorist attack, we can see that many people have been carefully conditioned over time to hate us. They are the pit bull dogs of our world. No matter what we do, it will be difficult to change that conditioning. Meanwhile, we had better protect our society.
4) For peace overtures to have any effect, it would seem to me that you would have to be making them toward those who value peace. Anyone who would hijack 4 civilian aircraft, assault and murder passengers, and fly those planes into buildings holding more than 50,000 people in a country that has made no attack on them, is not interested in and does not value "peace." Peace-loving people refrain from acts such as these.
5) Finally, I am the wife of an Army officer, and I can tell him (you already know) that if you want to find real advocates for peace, go to a military installation. This is where you find the men and women who have the most to lose anytime the military is called into action. The general public doesn't realize how much these men and women risk on a daily basis, just to train to be ready for the call. I just got my husband back from 6 months in Kosovo where he was sent to "keep the peace" in the middle of Kosovo's own brand of terrorists who from time to time respected peace so much that they lobbed bottle rockets and grenades at their own people, and at our military! Don't talk to me about "declaring peace." However, if this country is serious about declaring war, I pray that we will declare it totally and that our society will stay behind it. My husband loves this country enough that he is willing to pay the ultimate price so that our children don't eventually have to. It terrifies me, but I think I can support him in this if the rest of the country does. However, I don't want to see him risking everything to protect "peace declarers" who will likely be headed off to Canada anyway if and when things get tough.
Thank you, so much for speaking truth to this guy. I don't always agree with everything you say, but I admire the fact that you'll say the hard things when no one else will.
God bless,

I just wanted to tell you about an incident that happened yesterday while all of the horrors were unfolding. I was in attendance at my psychology class on personality when the professor asked the class what they thought about the events of the day. The student in the desk next to me started to talk about how it had effected him. He went on to say how sad and confused he was about the whole situation. He then said that he thought any retaliation was pointless.
He said, "Its pointless. Wed just go in and bomb them and then theyd turn around and bomb us. It would be a vicious cycle". I looked around the class to find - to my shock and horror - many of the students shaking their heads in agreement.
At this point I had decided to keep quiet. I am a 29 year old student in a school full of kids in their late teens and early twenties. I did not want to start an argument that would create any sort of animosity towards me. After all, I have to spend the next couple months with these people and didnt want to be ostracized. So I quietly bit my lip.
The student then went on to say in a matter of fact way, "I dont know. Has anyone else been joking about how Bush would start world war 3? Its just kinda scary because my friends and I had been joking about this just the other day".
I couldnt take it anymore. I was so angry that I couldnt breath. I turned to him and said, "How in the world does Bush have anything to do with this"?
"Well, you know...him being over there in Europe and not signing the treaty. Pissing off all the EU leaders and nations...all the European leaders yelling at him and all", was his response.
Before I knew it I said, "First of all, do you realize that all of those European leaders that were yelling at him hold the same position on the treaty as Bush does? They just dont have the b*lls to admit it! If they felt differently and agreed with the treaty, why havent any of them gone on record and signed it? And secondly, how can you possibly think that these disgusting terrorist attacks have anything to do with the environment? Dont twist the events of today to conveniently fit your personal beliefs. Thats called propaganda. Get your head out of the sand and take a look at the facts. This has nothing to do with Bush or his administration. It has to do with a sick, twisted individual or group that has effectively declared war with not only the United States and its citizens, but the entire free world. I find it insulting and repulsive that you're sitting here right now placing blame on someone instead of thinking about the victims and their friends and families. All you can do is try to make the other guy look bad".
I turned to look at the response of the classroom. Out of twenty or so students I found two or three nodding their heads in agreement. The rest just sitting there slack-jawed along with the student I was having this dialog with. Fearing the worst - the disapproval of my retort from the professor - I turned to see her reaction. To my relief, she sat quietly with her hand partially hiding the smile on her face.
After a few moments of silence, my professor asked if anyone else had anything to say. Since no one did, she let class out early. Hopefully, when we meet again on Thursday some of my fellow students will have thought about what was said. I hope that what I said will stop them from blindly following the liberal mantra (i.e. thats what happens when a Republican in is office). Im not holding my breath, though.* * * This email, by all means, is not an attack on liberals and their beliefs. They can believe anything they want to - thats just fine with me. When they start the finger pointing and placing blame where none is to be though, I have found it high-time to put them in their place. The media has been brain-washing these kids for way to long. Their generation has been raised by TV. They take whatever comes out of it as scripture - the word of GOD. An end needs to be put to this type of abuse. Someone has to tell these kids that what they see on TV and read in the newspaper is not necessarily fact but rather a sort of fiction.
Im having a hard time trying to figure out how to end this email - I could go on forever but I will end it here. My thoughts and prayers go out to all who were touched by these cowardly acts of terrorism. My sympathy is with you.

Dear brothers and sisters of the USA:
Last night I posted a statement that, though I still stand by, was written out of anguish and pain. I failed to express my compassion and sympathy for the victims and families of this cowardly act. My neighbor and friend was feet away from the impact at the Pentagon and I just learned that he survived. Injured but alive and recovering. When I finally saw him today and talked to him I felt my Christian love well up in my heart and that made me realize that my posting last night left out my thanks to my God that there are survivors. We must not let the liberals take our God, however we perceive him/her to be, take that belief away from this great country. You see what happened to the she devil of atheism and her minions. If this country abandons our religious beliefs to the ACLU, NOW, NAACP, etc.... there will be no redemption and we, as a nation, will fall into chaos. I am not as good a Christian as I should be and am not a "bible thumper" but I believe that the core values that we were taught from our childhood make us a compassionate people. A free people who give our new neighbors the benefit of the doubt and accept them as our ancestors did, maybe even better than our ancestors, as fellow Americans. We need not attack our fellow Americans because they are of a certain faith. These attackers were fanatics from abroad. If one researches the Koran, it does not condone acts such as were precipitated yesterday. Our Muslim Americans are, above all, American citizens until such time as they are investigated and indited as criminals. Please DO NOT lower yourselves to the level of the terrorists by attacking our fellow Americans just because they are of Arabic or Muslim background. I am mad as Hell but I am a patriotic American and Love my country. My family came to this country from Scotland generations ago and, I'm sure, faced some prejudices. Please remember that we are not the original inhabitants of this land. This nation is strong and prosperous because of our "melting pot" of wonderful people from around the globe. Our enemy is from abroad, and as such, should direct or rage toward abroad. I still have friends that I cannot contact at the Pentagon and am still worried about them but I will not HATE my fellow Americans who may be different from me. Lastly, I want to say that the good people of NYC have shown the rest of the country that they do not deserve the reputation that has been put upon them as being mean people. I am encouraged that they have rallied around the need for blood and support in this time of need. I am very proud that they are fellow Americans and will never believe that they in any deserve that stereotype of being mean. Even if they don't want to admit it, they are good, compassionate people and very good Americans. I am very proud to count them as MY brothers and sister Americans. 750,000 blood donors in this country, this should make every American's heart swell with pride. We are one people. One country. "One nation under God, indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all." God bless America. I am So Proud to be an American today. My Love to all of America.
Michael USAF, RET* * * An open letter to America
Volga, South Dakota. It has been a week since it happened. We have absorbed everything about it except why. Why did they do it? What did we do to them? Why do they hate us? As we struggle to make sense of it, even Dan Rather on David Letterman cannot articulate the reason.
Here is the reason. They hate us because they are dying, literally and figuratively, and they (wrongly) blame us for killing them. Their culture and religion and way of life, as those few fanatics see it and live it, is dead, and rather than change with the living, they have chosen to literally and figuratively die. The way of life that they idealize is 1,400 years old, going back to Muhammad, the prophet of Islam. They dont want that way of life to change. They cannot function or even fathom living any other way. And so, to them, this really is a life or death struggle. If they cant continue to exist in the old ways, they dont want to/cant exist at all.
And so their leaders have constructed a simple idea to motivate them. The next life is much better. You should sacrifice yourself to get to the next life, and destroy the Great Satan or as many of them as you can on the way. This is what Bin Laden and others teach their people. They are dead already, and somewhere deep within the recesses of their existence, they know it. And so they go to their deaths gladly, taking as many of the Great Satan with them as they can.
We have become the Great Satan to them because we epitomize everything that is alive and vital and changing in life. The secret of American existence and power and wealth and success is that we have unleashed the human spirit in all our people. Our fore fathers and mothers came here to get away from things they hated in their home lands. They were religious minorities in their own countries, and they hated it. They said, Never again. They determined to find a new land where they could worship in freedom and peace.
They were too poor to go to school, or send their children to school, in their home lands. And even if they could somehow find the money, they could not gain admission, since the elite controlled admission. And they could not protest through the political system. They didnt have the right to vote. They were not land owners, or wealthy, and so they had no voice. But when they came to America, they said, Never again. You see, the entire world, before America a few hundred years ago, was feudal. A few powerful families and entities controlled every government and tribe in the world. They had absolute power, and they refused to share it with anyone other than themselves.
The beauty of America is that we took all these horrors and prohibited them. We enshrined their opposites in our Bill of Rights. We unchained the human spirit. We did not know at the time what we had done. We still barely comprehend what we have done. But we, and the rest of the world, can see the results. We are the wealthiest, the most powerful, the most creative, the most tolerant, the most innovative, people and society and culture in human existence. We have stumbled upon a socio-political-economic system that not only allows but encourages the best in people to come out. That is the essence of Francis Fukuyamas book The End of History and the Last Man (a must read).
He wonderfully and creatively describes our economic and political systems and explains why they represent the end products of the evolution of human economic and political systems. While Im not quite sure our system cant evolve even more, to an even better way of living, I cant argue that that may just be tinkering at the edges. We have tapped into the power of individuals living in community. It is an awesome thing. And the people of the world, the young people of the world, the entrepreneurs of the world, want it. Thats why they risk death to get here. And thats why we need to continue to keep our borders open and our immigration quotas high. Only those with the most drive and determination make it here. They are the best and brightest of the world. They bring the best of the human spirit to us every day. We need their spirit and energy and craving for freedom to continue our pattern of growth and creativity and change.
The whole world envies our freedoms and our successes. They want it, too, but are afraid of losing their own culture and way of life in the process. And so they envy us. They resent the fact that their young people want to look like Americans, dress like Americans, eat like Americans, BE Americans. And for the few that are terrorists, they hate us so much that they are willing to die, and take all of us down with them, if they could. That is the essence of Samuel P. Huntingtons book The Clash of Civilizations and the Remaking of World Order (another must read). He explains that all our wars in this century will be because of clashes between civilizations, not between nations per se.
And he is right. They will continue to come at us for a long time, because their children will continue to come to us. They will come at us from other backgrounds than Islam. They will come from wherever the walking dead exist. They are the cancer cells of the body of humanity. As we all know, cancer can destroy the entire body if we are not wise in how we treat it. We cannot blast away, as the cancer cells live within the human body, and we will destroy the healthy cells as well as the cancer cells when we blast away. We must isolate the cancer cells and starve them off. We must destroy the cancer cells without destroying the healthy cells next to them. Our political and military leaders should speak with our cancer researchers and specialists and use that medical knowledge to assist us in our fight against the cancer of the terrorists.
We need every weapon at out disposal. Our best weapons are our intelligence, our creativity, our ability to look outside the box to find solutions, our unwillingness to rush to judgment, our refusal to become like them. We cannot be killed as long as we hold to the IDEA that is America the idea that every human being has value, that every human being should be free to make the best of his or her life that he or she can, the idea that having done our best, we deserve to reap the rewards of having done our best. And the rewards are great.
Our IDEA of America has so much power because it is the idea of life itself. We are life and vitality and change, more so than any other country or culture or political system. We are the genie that popped out of the bottle of the old world order, and we have changed that order irrevocably and forever. The genie cannot be put back in the bottle. Those who chose life will always chose the IDEA of America, because it is life itself. The terrorists and all who believe as they do and all who support them are the walking dead. They have doomed themselves because they have chosen death. They are death.
And so they must hate us. We are killing them. We are killing an old and outmoded way of thinking and living that has to die. There is a better way. We have found that better way. The world sees that we have found a better way. The IDEA of America gives humanity a choice it never had before we came to be. Is it any wonder that the world embraces our choice, and turns away from the chains of the past? We are reaping the rewards of having found a better way. We are willing to share that better way with anyone who wants it and will work for it. The world is choosing our IDEA, and walking away from the societies and cultures that do not provide for human freedom and human potential.
We are not perfect. We make mistakes. We must always work to be better. We have become complacent. We have let go of the concept of excellence, and we have defined the merely adequate as excellent, because we dont want to hurt anyones feelings. But excellence is a thing of life. We cannot change what it takes to be excellent by changing the definition. The last lesson for us out of this tragedy is that we must again insist upon excellence, in our intelligence organizations, in our schools, in our workplaces, in our government agencies, in our lives. Sloppy thinking and sloppy work habits breeds mediocrity. We cannot win this battle with mediocrity. We must be at our best.
We will win this battle, because we are the best. We are life itself. We are fully human and free to be and proud of it. We will keep the cancer of terrorism at bay. We will keep the body of humanity alive and well and thriving. We are Americans.

Last week, at the campus in Berserkely, one of the war protesters carried a poster which read: "Kill a terrorist and ten will take his place." I would add: "Let a terrorist live and twenty will be encouraged to join him".
Michael* * * Fifty Years of Appeasement Led to Black Tuesday
By Leonard Peikoff
Fifty years of increasing American appeasement in the Mideast have led to fifty years of increasing contempt in the Muslim world for the U.S. The inevitable climax was the tens of thousands of deaths on September 11 2001-the blackest day in our history so far. The Palestinians among others responded by dancing in the streets and handing out candy. Fifty years ago Truman and Eisenhower ceded to the Arabs the West's property rights in oil-although that oil properly belonged to those in the West whose science and technology made its discovery and use possible. This capitulation was not practical but philosophical. The Arab dictators were denouncing the wealthy egoistic West. They were crying that the masses of their poor needed our sacrifice; that oil like all property is owned collectively by virtue of birth; and that they knew all this by means of ineffable or otherworldly emotion. Our Presidents had no answer. Implicitly they were ashamed of the Declaration of Independence. They did not dare to answer aloud that Americans rightfully were motivated by the selfish desire to pursue personal happiness in a rich secular individualist society.
The Arabs embodied in extreme form every idea-selfless duty anti-materialism faith or feeling above science the supremacy of the group-which our universities and churches and our own political Establishment had long been preaching as the essence of virtue. When two groups our leadership and theirs accept the same basic ideas the most consistent wins.
After property came liberty. The Iranian dictator Khomeini threatened with death a British author-and with destruction his American publisher-if they exercised their right to free speech. He explained that the book in question offended the religion of his people. The Bush Administration looked the other way.
After liberty came American life itself-as in Iran's support of the massacre of our soldiers in Saudi Arabia and the Afghanistan-based assault on our embassies in East Africa. Again the American response was unbridled appeasement: a Realpolitikisch desire not to "jeopardize relations" with the aggressor country covered up by a purely rhetorical vow to punish the guilty along with an occasional pretend bombing. By now the world knows that we are indeed a paper tiger.
We have not only appeased terrorists we have actively created them. The Reagan Administration-holding that Islamic fundamentalists were our ideological allies in the fight against the atheistic Soviets-poured money and expertise into Afghanistan to create an ever-growing band of terrorists recruited from all over the Mideast. Most of these terrorists knew what to do with their American training; their goal was not to save Afghanistan.
The final guarantee of American impotence is the bipartisan proclamation that a terrorist is an individual alone responsible for his actions and that "we must try each before a court of law." This is tantamount while under a Nazi aerial bombardment to seeking out and trying the pilots involved while ignoring Hitler and Germany.
Terrorists exist only through the sanction and support of the governments behind them. Their lethal behavior is that of the regimes that make them possible. Their killings are not crimes but acts of war. The only proper response to such acts is war in self-defense.
We do not need more evidence to "pinpoint" the perpetrators of any one of these atrocities including the latest and most egregious-we already have total certainty with regard to the governments primarily responsible for the repeated slaughter of Americans in recent years. We must now use our unsurpassed military to destroy all branches of the Iranian and Afghani governments regardless of the suffering and death this will bring to the many innocents caught in the line of fire. We must wipe out the terrorist training camps or sanctuaries and eliminate any retaliatory military capability-and thereby terrorize and paralyze all the tyrannies watching who will now know what is in store for them if they choose in any form to attack the U.S. That will be the end of the terrorists.
Our missiles and occupation troops however will be effective only if they are preceded by our President's morally righteous statement that we intend hereafter to defend by every means possible each American's right to his property his liberty and his secure enjoyment of life here on earth.
To those who oppose war I ask: If not now when? How many more corpses are necessary before this country should take action? The choice today is mass death in the United States or mass death in the terrorist nations. President Bush must decide whether it is his duty to save Americans or the governments who seek to kill them.

1. These terrorists are like cats or bullies taunting teasing and throwing rocks at a big dog on a chain. The dog growls snaps and barks but the taunter is safe. Till now the chain broke. and the dog is awake watch out terrorists
2. We the people of America should not take out our frustrations on the Islam people . It has always amazed me that Islam the Jewish faith and Christianity all preach faith and peace but man kind always goes to war over it even in our own faith ie.Ireland The terrorists are extremists; not the Muslims living peacefully among us

* * * Early in American history we face the Day of Algiers and the idea of state sponsored piracy against American shipping in the Mediterranean Sea. A tiny nation (us) with a minuscule navy projected sea power across Atlantic Ocean and into the heart of the problem. We had losses (the frigate Philadelphia) and successes and a proud tradition of naval excellence was established . Young men came home heroes lessons were learned and the threat was eliminated. The point is that even non-interventionals like Jefferson and Washington knew that for government of for and by could only exist in a world where those who deny Americans freedom (of the seas) were forced to pay a heavy price for attempting to limit our liberty. Americans should not lose one single freedom instead let's have the enemies of the United States lose theirs.

* * * Since the birth of our country we have had many conflicts to establish our Independence and freedom for our people.
If you look back at all our engagements with other countries from the time we declared independence only the conflicts that we have fully committed ourselves we find that the United States and these countries have become the best of friends and allies. Only when we do a partial job do we continue suffering for the next generations to come and find we are not at peace with ourselves. This is not an opportunity but a time that we come together with our people and our government and finish what should have been completed in 1945. Someone said that "War is Hell" but could it not be said that Peace is also Hell.
"Our Father in Heaven" be with those in sorrow and welcome into your kingdom those that have had their lives taken from them.
Ken in Idaho* * * Do we have to blame the reactionary legislation that banned assassinations following the Bay of Pigs mess-up for this cancer that has been growing unchecked? Legislation and political careers shaped by the media tie the hands of proactive illumination of terrorists. Or is it just that we don't have the stomach for doing what is necessary? Americans want to fix everyone else and give them an Orphan Annie resurrection. They don't get it. There are fanatic terrorists who believe in the core of their being that every man woman and child American is the evil cancer. We aren't going to change their minds with care packages.
* * * Osama Ben-laden' = What is his objective?
To defeat Israel and the US any way that he can and wipe us both off the map making way for most of the world to have imposed upon them a Muslim religion. It will be a world that will be compelled by brute force and terror to accept Ala as their god and Mohammed as their prophet. There will be no freedom!
We must be very careful not to step into this trap and allow ourselves to be used to unite the Arab world and give such a man or men to grab so much power. As I said, "He needs the US too much right now to want us destroyed. But he and his organization will push the envelope of pain and humility. He will go to great lengths and allow a lot of people get killed, even his own, to bring about such an apocalyptic event.
We make a keen mistake to merely think of him as being evil or merely a terrorist. He is a religious zealot not just a terrorist. Just as Christianity wants to see "the whole world get saved" the Muslim world wants to spread their oppressive religion on the entire planet. That was Mohammed's goal and it is Islama Ben-laden's goal too. This bears out historically and theologically which is much more important to a religious zealot than any desire for revenge.
Danny Slagle
* * * As bad as the attack on America was, I feel no hatred or revengeful feelings toward the perpetrators. I am a Christian, and from that standpoint, I say we love and forgive our enemies. However, to say that and do nothing is not the answer in itself. If westood by and did nothing in retaliation, I feel we would have many more attempts and more casualties in a big way. America would be under siege constantly if we didn't make efforts to avoid such incidents in the future. I do not like to see the enemy bombed for may innocent lives would be taken.
I think of necessity for the protection of this country, it is the unfortunate task that we must retaliate in big way to show we will not stand for acts of terrorism. I realize there is a different thought process that Americans have over the enemy. They are ruthless and zealous for a religious belief that is pure hypocrisy operated under hate, which God condemns, and therefore they are in essence condemned by God themselves for their sinful behavior. That is why they can do what they do to others.
I am not against any retaliation, but it saddens my heart that they brought it upon themselves. It certainly grieves the heart of God also. May Jesus help us to do the right thing. There are no winners in acts of violence.

Let the folks know were now in what Muslims call a "blood feud"- it is a fight to the death. We either fight or die. These folks feel they have nothing to lose and everything to gain, and they wont stop until we eliminate all of them. Unfortunately, this network will encompass several Mid-East and Asian countries that will probably side with any Muslim regardless of sins against humanity verses siding with the West. We can make the decision now or later. I'm afraid the decimation has only begun.
Joel Chase
PA Nelson Demilles book The Lions Game is a very good illustration of the mentality of the "blood-feud."
* * * There is an attempt to organize anti-retaliation sentiments on American campuses nation wide. There is an organization called "Peaceful Justice: Concerned Students for Justice without War" <www.peaceful justice.cjb.net which is part of the general left wing campus radical fringe. These are the people who protest against WTO, capitalism, the war on drugs, the Bush Presidency, etc. Some of the older ones are the same people who protested Gulf War and the US Operations in Panama. many of these protesters are full-time administrators, faculty members, and 'professional' protesters living in university communities. They want to make it appear as though there is some sort of general anti-military retaliation sentiment that is wide spread among the country's student population (another Viet Nam). If you go to their web site, you will find some rather useful ammunition to use against them. Additionally, I think a simple google search on their organizers will show you that they belong a whole string of fring movements that average Americans wouldn't like.
There are several angles that the story could use. Why are all these administrators and faculty pretending to be students? Given their web sites message aren't they just a front for anti-Bush activity? Is it right that at a time when so many Americans have been brutally murdered, and our police, firemen and soldiers in harms way for these people to be actively undercutting and dividing the country? They have already organized a protest for 'Nationwide solidarity' on Thursday, 20 Sept from 12:00 to 1:00, and there are still over 5,000 corpses are still in the wreckage. What do these people think they know that the President, the Sec. of State, the Sec. of Defense, the FBI, the CIA, the Congress, etc. Aren't they just a tiny bit arrogant, and rash (it has only been a week) dictating what actions our President and government should and should not occur?
I worry that these are the nice sort of liberals who get us all killed one day. They will so hamstring our national leadership, and sap our will power that we will not act decisively to eliminate a dangerous group with chemical, biological or nuclear weapons. Does anyone doubt that those terrorists who attacked the WTC would have had the slightest compunction about using a nuke on NYC? We have to get these people, before they get us.

People want to give PEACE a chance; We were at peace.
People in Afghanistan cheered; Let them cheer no more.
We are slow to anger; So be it.
When angered we fight to the finish; So be it.
They want a Jihad (holy war); So be it.
We will give them a holy war they will never forget.
The retribution will be, And should be, Horrific.
Let no one forget what we are about to do.
It should be horrible; So horrible it disgusts us all; So horrible the rest of the world,
Reels in indignation, In horror.
So terrible; No one, No group, No nation, Ponders the thought of anymore attacks,
On AMERICA, On AMERICANS. Knock down some buildings; Knock them all down, America will still be here. Buildings are not America; America is a nation of people, People from all nations, People from all faiths,The fiend that bombed one building, In Oklahoma, Is no longer alive. You soon will find out; Kill one American, You lose a thousand, Kill 5000 Americans; You lose the right to have a country.
Run, hide, We will find you. No more; Will America sit back, No more; Will America be attacked,
Without retribution. No more, Will the giant sleep. We are AMERICA, We are coming.R. Yeager
* * * Dear America:
I find myself greatly troubled today because some of my values have imploded. For the past week I have experienced many emotions but today I experienced a different one. I sat last evening and watched on television two men, whom I admire greatly, filled with the same rage and grief that has numbed me for a week. I could see the pain in both of their faces but I also sensed something beyond these obvious emotions. I like them, found fault with everyone from our intelligence and security organizations to our entire government and world leaders. I was horrified and heart broken. I felt hate and I relished revenge. But there was something else.
This morning, as I watched our seemingly hopeless recovery of over 5000 of my fellow Americans and heard news that the world was trying to decide what it would allow us to do to prevent this from happening again, the horror and reality finally hit home and I was over come with a new emotion. I felt failure. I felt frustration and I felt failure. I was ashamed and I was sad and I was angry with myself for failing my God and my country.
My generation has failed American. We have failed not in what we have given this great country but in what we didn't give it and the world...Peace. We are passing to our children the greatest nation on this earth and the greatest America that has ever existed but we have also allowed hate and evil to flourish. Either in our attempts to be open minded, fair and loving or in our lackadaisically comfortable attitudes we let wrong reign. We allowed evil a platform both at home and abroad. We let that evil prosper rather than promote peace. We stood by and watched selfish interests over come common good and selfless interests. We allowed hate, deep and complete hate to be a normal emotion for so many of our fellow men and women.
As youth we sang and danced to the prospect of a world of peace and love, now as adults we mourn a world of war and hate. Sure we were given a troubled world. A world full of anger, distrust and bias. But now we have a world full of pure hate and little value for human life. In this respect the world isn't better than we found it.
Yes in some ways America and the World are much better places than we found them but in a few terrible ways they are much worse. I now realize that it isn't important how great the good we have left our children, it matters how little the bad we leave and in that we have failed America and the World.
I am sorry, I was wrong...we were wrong. I might still be wrong. Wrong in saying that the world is worse off than it was fifty years ago. It might not be worse but last Tuesday showed me that it certainly is not any better.
I have no idea of how to fix the World but I do know that, if our hearts are right and we are brave, it can be fixed. We can't correct our past mistakes. The world we have is the world we have. But from here forward we can work with all our energies and love to leave America and the World a better, less evil, place than it is today. Today I see what is really important. Today I don't want revenge. I just want to insure that I never need to seek it again.
A Loving God loving American
* * * I was so enraged to hear the people who are so blinded by visions of a rosy, Lennonesque type non-reality, that they don't see that these terrorists are not raised for acceptance, they don't want peace. THEY WILL NEVER CHANGE!! These people are raised in hate and raised to hate. They HATE the West and Democracy, and will do everything in their power to destroy our way of life. If we lay down and offer flowers and a great big Barney hug, they will probably blow us to Kingdom Come. Haven't these peace seekers been listening to the interviews with Bin Laden and terrorists currently serving prison terms? They DO NOT CARE about life, even lives of their family members and themselves, they only care about proving their point and their point is to kill everyone who is not like them, and who doesn't believe as they do. They don't want peace and never will, because then they wouldn't have anything to do if they can't kill people.
I am a retired (female) Navy Chief Petty Officer and it makes me sick to hear all these people who don't feel the need to defend the privileges they have enjoyed all of their lives. They should be ashamed of themselves. If they feel so strongly about helping these people and giving them a helping hand they should be donating their money and their time to go over there. But I doubt if that will happen, they are too snug, secure, selfish, and cowardly to contribute anything but empty rhetoric and are too anxious to point the finger of blame to those who want to defend our way of life.

Dear Mr.. Rothschild:
As a student of U.S. history, upon reading your recent editorial in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, I am relieved that the sentiment expressed in the article has not prevailed in any actual decision making upon which our national ideals or well being may have rested. I feel that your article has failed to distinguish properly between a claim to support justice and the actual perpetuance of justice.
Early in your article, you wrote that "The U.S. should protect its citizens - no doubt. That is a constitutional requirement and the obligation of all nations." By the next sentence, you have abandoned a significant proportion of the resolve necessary to uphold the social contract and ideals of a nation. An important international political philosophy applicable here is entitled Realism. The chief proponent, Hans Morgenthau, points out that a nation possesses three instruments with which to defeat aggression. These tools are the implementation of policies of diplomacy, military strength, and alliances.
I found your article to grossly over estimate the effect of diplomacy in our current situation. While diplomacy would seek compromise, terrorists are revisionist groups, defined by Morgenthau as willing to use force to change the status quo. After such a horrific event, if we were to fall back on diplomacy, we would be doing nothing to condemn terrorism. Contrastingly, we would be lowering ourselves from the position of a just international system. First, we would be offering a policy of diplomacy to a body of terrorists whose actions have shown no inclinations whatsoever towards justice or diplomacy. Second, we have shown them that their actions of terror and destruction are a valuable tool for them to use in gaining any demands of theirs. Diplomacy does not diffuse the threat. It only vindicates terrorism by the ends it is proven to achieve: a large nation offering terrorists the possibility for compromise.
Mr.. Matthew Rothschild
I was severely affronted upon reading that it is our responsibility to break the "cycle of violence" by laxity in our response. This is the point where one must differentiate between stated and lived values. You state that we should value peace, yet peace is not gained by standing idly by allowing terrorists to receive their demands. I have previously stated that acting with diplomacy in response to heinous attacks by brazen terrorists does not perpetuate peace. It only demonstrates that we are willing to lose lives in heinous events and then adopt diplomacy with those responsible. Essentially, this policy would acknowledge terrorism as a valid means to reach political ends.
As long as our nation stands in support of justice, we cannot employ such passive policies. At desperate times, sacrifices must be made. By responding with force where diplomacy fails, our nation and others have the ability to set the precedent of condemnation of terrorist acts. Responding with force is not stooping to the level of terrorists (as the article would claim). We have not attacked innocent civilians with sudden ferocity in order to obtain a political end. Rather, force is a final resort in showing our nation's condemnation of inhumane acts.
Our Constitution would not have any value if it were not for our great proponents who supported it in action, not only in claim. An ideal is forged by the resolve which we demonstrate to support the ideal, not by claiming its value. Even as "war is hell", it is also a definitive test of what our ideals really are. At this point, only war will demonstrate, with permanence, our commitment to protect the value of diplomacy by preventing sadistic and selfish acts of terrorists to permeate our world.
Respectfully,
Nicholas A. Turner / cc: Milwaukee Journal Crossroads Editor / C. Sykes' Radio Talk Show
* * * An American's Thoughts - ON BEHALF OF AMERICA
Letter from 250 million,to you
Mr. PRESIDENTI'm writing this on behalf of the more than 85% of us average americans who support you, Mr.President.Let me tell you the real deal on how we feel, since either no-one bothers to ask us. or WASHINGTON'S just plain afraid of our answers.
We're tough people out here, but were afraid. And not of what you might think. We can deal with Sept 11th. We can deal with anthrax or anything else for that matter. We're just plain afraid that with all our military might, and our capability to destroy any foe on earth, that because of politics, you guys won't do what has to be done.
Most of us don't want to send more food than bombs. We rather send food after we win.We don't give a rat's behind about the other countries. If they don't like it, we'll fight them too. This is our blood we're talking about here, SIR.
Mr. President, remember that dollar you wanted us to send to the kids in Afghanistan? Well a lot of us did, only to show our kids, what being good is all about. But the truth of it is, a lot of us did it begrudgingly.Yes we feel sorry, but we know it's war.We don't care about winning the hearts and minds of the middle east.We want to win the war. Remember the saying, "inside every Vietnamese, is an American trying to get out". Now so much for the winning of hearts and minds.
Another thing that really bothers the hell out of us, is that we know civilians will be killed. Sure, it's very sad, but it really doesn't matter how many. We understand, and except that.We also know the war is not humane, but it is justified. We are what count. We don't care about the world's perception of us, should we destroy country after country, to protect ourselves. They perceive us as weak anyway, because Washington doesn't have the stomach for war. But we the people, do have the will, and the resolve, for what ever needs to be done. Let's not forget, most of us know that it's that weak perception of us, that has put us where we are at this moment in time.We are truly tired of it, Sir.
Mr.President, let's talk special forces. We know that many of raids that take place, involving special forces, will be kept secret, and the out come will be slow. But with all due respect, a lot of us are angry and insulted, because we know the difference between a covert operation, and what is really supposed to take place when we attack a country like Afghanistan, or any other country for that matter. We fight to win, with every thing we have.We are real, tough as nails, smarter than you think, Americans out here Sir. That's probably why we're still mad as hell about not destroying Iraq, in the GULF WAR, Sir. We know half measures when we see them.
In closing, Mr.President, what I've written is true. And yes we are behind you. Please stand behind us. Mr. President, we're keeping are end of the bargain. We're united and strong. You must keep your end too.
Lastly, for the people, and the countries who say stop the bombing, and advise you with half measures, please tell them, to shout those words as loud as they can, because the WORLD TRADE CENTER is mighty far away. Further inform them, there are 5000 reasons lying in NY and Washington. That's why, were in it to win it, by any means possible. So tough cow cookies!
PLEASE DO WHAT'S RIGHT!
SINCERLY,Victor -

Rush the folks who think we should be nice and fight fear, blah- blah-blah, etc..... These are the people who have never put themselves or any of their kin in harms way. That job is left to the people who don't have any real worth (blue collar worker or common man). If We said 'Sure, we will do what You want, but You must be first on the ground up front.' They would duck that challenge by saying we were being unrealistic, blah blah-blah blah-blah-blah, etc.... so trying to speak to them or make them admit to any real truth is futile.....
I speak from experience; At one job years ago, was a gentleman my age (Vietnam era) who went to collage on government money, protested the war, and to this day truly believes he has no obligation to serve or defend this nation. He is first in line for anything the government might be giving away. He looked for any tax loop he could find. He said he was entitled to any public money for his kids to go to college, etc.... He had no guilt or remorse that others fought and died so he could have cars, home, education, stock portfolio. He was outraged to think that someone could support a program that would require every man and woman should serve in the Armed Forces. It should be noted that this "person" was a devote Humanist and Democrat.....
need I say more .....* * * Subject: FW: A MESSAGE FOR "THE OTHER 10%" ... (Author Unknown)
"I'm as patriotic as anyone. In the wake of September 11 and the evil that was done to the United States, I fly my flags and mourn with our Nation. But I want to take a minute to pick on some people. Please understand, I love the way our nation has come together in the last two months. I saw a recent poll that President George W. Bush has a 90% approval rating--the highest ever for an American President. But, please tell me: Who are the other 10%?
They are a professor at The University of North Carolina, who called on Bush to apologize. Yes, apologize to the world for American Imperialism. That this is our fault.
They are Jesse Jackson, who said that America is now a "police state"and we will lose our "civil liberties." That racial profiling will rule, and we will lose our freedom.
They are college students across our Nation that carry "peace" symbols, yet threaten to vandalize any fire truck in Berkley, CA. that flies the American flag.(Actually, the majority of protestors in Berkley weren't actual students, but wanna-be adults who live in the community..The majority of present Berkley students are not politically liberal / leftest. ... Editor}
I will deal with them one by one: First, to the college professor: You are a fascist idiot. And I am chilled knowing that you, and people like you are teaching America's youth. You are no American, and should be deported to Cuba on the next raft headed
that way.Second, to Jesse Jackson: Thank you for your kind words at time when America is pulling together. Nothing like a moron like you to stir up dissension during our darkest hour. Don't forget, Jesse, that people died for our freedoms long before you "blessed" us with your forgettable presence. That freedom comes with a price. And if you aren't willing to pay that price, then shut up, go visit your mistress, and stay off my TV!
And lastly, to the college students: You have no idea what you have. You've been fed with a silver spoon, bought from the closest Saks in your suburban neighborhood, and you have not the slightest inkling of the threat posed to America. Grow up. Get a job. Try balancing that job with a wife or husband, a couple of kids, and a mortgage payment. Try wondering how to spread yourself just thin enough so you don't crumble. And try being so many things to so many people, who depend solely on you. Worry about their futures for a change, instead of yours. See beyond your boyhood blinders in a world where there are people that would like nothing more than to take you down. To destroy those freedoms you have not even begun to understand. And learn to find strength in your God and your flag, because when Daddy cuts off the money supply, that's all you've got left!
I have heard many people the last few days start to waiver in their vengeance. Poor Afghanistan. They are a troubled people ravaged by war and famine. They have done nothing wrong, and now many innocent peoplewill die. People understand this: New Yorkers are digging through rubble, trying to find bodies so loved ones can bury them. Problem is, they are only
finding body parts. There were about 15 day care centers in the World Trade Centers. FIFTEEN. Each one had about 25 children in them. That's almost 400 children! And when I see on TV, a Fire Fighter crying because he can't stomach the idea of seeing just one more child's leg, arm, head, or part of a torso charred in the rubble--dismembered to the point where parents and loved ones are asked to bring their toothbrushes so that they can identify them by DNA. Where the stench of death haunts the air to the point where it chokes you. Where nearly 7,000 crushed, burned, mutilated bodies restburied under thousands of tons of rubble that used to be jobs to nearly 50,000people. Where melted crayons and toys cling to the sides of steel girders where children used to play. And where those children now lay dead--no futures--no tomorrow. To those who are losing their stomachs for vengeance: I say, do not forget. Do not ever, ever, forget. America cannot, will not, tolerate this. Ever. Under no circumstances. Not here. Not our children. Not our parents, our brothers or our sisters. Ever. And if innocent people, in a land far away, have to become "collateral damage" to avenge the deaths of our innocent? I say: So be it. Remember, this is our way of life we are defending. Our freedom. Our freedom to live day to day, not in terror, but in the pursuit of happiness. The broader spectrum here is the future of our way of life. If innocent people are killed while we rid the world of this evil--that can anytime come back and kill even more of us--then that is the price to pay. Think about that the next time you see a child.
God Bless America."

* * * Boycott Danny Glover
Recently, I had the privilege of listening to a speaker at a monthly meeting of the Stanislaus County Peace Officers Association. The speaker was a Vietnam Medal of Honor winner, Jon Cavaiani.
Cavaiani's inspirational message was about terrorism in our country, freedom, and the need to pass on to future generations the lessons learned from the sacrifice of those who have gone before them.
That same Thursday, actor Danny Glover accepted his usual hefty fee for a speaking engagement, and talked to an audience at Princeton University. Glover's message about the United States was that " one of the main purveyors of violence in this world has been this country." Glover spent much of his time deriding the death penalty and the actions of President Bush, and called on the United States to spare the life of Osama Bin Laden and to " stand vigilant against Bush."
Modesto Junior College, in conjunction with other groups, is spending $20,000 to bring Glover and his anti-American message to Modesto. This is the same Glover who earns huge paychecks for making the violent " Lethal Weapon " movies and apparently is an expert on world history and current social issues. Personally, I wouldn't pay a nickel or walk across the street to listen to Glover, and I hope a lot of other people will stay away also. But bring Jon Cavaiani or others like him to towm, and I'll be there.* * *
RUSH, FURTHER EVIDENCE THAT AT THE VERY LEAST, THE FREEDOM OF SPEECH ALLOWS US TO EASILY LOCATE COMPLETE MORONS SUCH AS GLOVER. YOU CAN BET THE STRATEGY OF GLOVER, JESSE JACKSON, PHIL DONAHUE AND THE BEZERKLEYITES WOULD BE TO BURY THEIR HEADS IN THE SAND. OH, IT WILL ALL GO AWAY, PROBLEM IS, IT LEAVES OUR BUTTS IN THE AIR. HERE IS A GUY THAT IS CAPITALIZING BY WAY OF SPEECHES AT THE MUSHHEAD LIBERAL EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS, CAPITALIZING MONETARILY AND USING THE VERY CONSTITUTIONAL GUARANTEES THAT THIS COUNTRY IS SO GREAT FOR, TO SPREAD HIS ANTI-AMERICAN PEACENIK RHETORIC AND TO POISON THOSE WHO ARE WILLING TO FOLLOW, NOT LEAD.
THIS IS AN INSULT TO ALL AMERICANS, THE FAMILIES OF THE VICTIMS AND THOSE SERVING IN OUR MILITARY. THIS IS AN INSULT TO ME, YOU AND THOSE WHO WENT BEFORE US TO BUILD AND PROTECT THIS COUNTRY.
YOU WERE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT RUSH, THERE ARE PEOPLE CAPITALIZING ON THIS ATROCITY AND HE IS ONE OF THEM. YOU WERE RIGHT RUSH, WHEN YOU STATED THAT YOU ARE EITHER IN SUPPORT OF THIS FIGHT OR YOU ARE AGAINST IT. IF YOU ARE AGAINST IT, YOU, IN EFFECT, ARE IN SUPPORT OF THE OFFENDERS. HERE IS A GUY WHO HAD BEEN ALLOWED, ALLOWED, BY THE VERY STRUCTURE OF THE COUNTRY, THE CONSTITUTION, THE GREAT PEOPLE OF THIS COUNTRY TO BECOME A STAR, A MILLIONAIRE AND NOW HE HAS THE COURAGE, YES THE COURAGE, OR STUPIDITY (COURAGE IMPLIES THE RECOGNITION OF CONSEQUENCE) TO USE HIS STATUS TO UNDERMINE AMERICAN EFFORTS, TO CALL AMERICA THE BULLY AND INSTIGATOR OF THE WORLD AND TO ASK US TO SPARE THE LIFE OF BIN LADEN.................THIS DO-GOODER CALLS US TO "STAND VIGILANT AGAINST BUSH." ????
RUSH I CAN GO ON AND ON ABOUT THIS, I AM INFURIATED AND SO ARE MY CO WORKERS AFTER HAVING THEM READ THE LETTER. THIS IS A GUY WHO LIKE MOST LIBERALS AND MUSHHEADS ON CAMPUS, HAVE NOT YET REALIZED THAT THEY TOO WERE ATTACKED. I SAY TO HIM, JESSE JACKSON, PHIL DONAHUE AND ALL OTHERS " DOING THE OSTRICH," AND PROMOTING THE PACIFIST POSITION, YOU HAVE FORGOTTEN, OR MAYBE NEVER KNEW, WHAT AN AMERICAN IS, WHAT WE STAND FOR. I AM ASHAMED WE HAVE TO STAND, NO SETTLE, FOR YOU AND YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES TOO.
BUT MAYBE THEIR RIGHT RUSH.........MAYBE WE SHOULD HAVE GLOVER, DONAHUE, JACKSON AND HELL WHY NOT, JANET RENO AND OF COURSE CLINTON, SINCE HE SEEMS TO THINK HE CAN DO A BETTER JOB, HAVE THEM ALL FORM A COALITION OF THEIR OWN. I SAY TO THEM......GO .....GO C.R.A.P. TEAM (COALITION REPRESENTING ALL PEAKENINKS) GO FORTH TO THE POWERS IN AFGHANISTAN, DAWN YOUR TIE DIED CLOTH AND PROVE TO US THAT WE MUST NEVER FIGHT FIRE WITH BIGGER FIRE.....THAT WE CAN USE YOUR WELL PLANNED STRATEGY TO BETTER DIRECT THESE MISGUIDED TERRORISTS WHO PROBABLY COME FROM BROKEN HOMES, TO DIVERT THEIR ANGER IN A POSITIVE MANNER.
RUSH...THE HIPOCRISY IS SO GREAT THAT I LEAVE IT TO YOU AND YOUR LISTENERS, NOT THE C.R.A.P. TEAM, TO ATTACK THIS ISSUE..........GOD BLESS THE U.S.A.
ONE LAST NOTE, TO DANNY GLOVER AND JESSE JACKSON, PLEASE ACCEPT AN INVITATION TO SPEAK WITH BILL O'REILLY IN A FORUM WHERE YOU EXPRESSIONS ARE CHALLENGED, IT IS SO COWARDLY OF YOU GUYS TO GO WHERE YOU KNOW YOU ARE WANTED, UNCHALLENGED AND CAN GAIN MONETARILY.......SOUNDS SORT OF LIKE THE WAY THE TALIBAN RAN THINGS........JUST AN OBSERVATION THOUGH. HEY, AT LEAST PHIL DONAHUE WENT ON.........
THX RUSH.....TALK TO YOU AGAIN...........DANIEL IN MODESTO, CA.

Killing the Enemy
rush; regarding the comment made by thomas on your show of 11/27/01 about killing the enemy;
He had it right almost! You tell me, how can you expect to conduct and win a war unless you are comitted to defeating, yes even KILLING THE ENEMY!!!I' m not saying we should gun down those who lay down their weapons and surrender BUT, the only way we can ever expect to defeat terrorism and eliminate the it poses to our country is to declare WAR on those people who declare WAR ON U.S....when people anywhere around the world rise up and declare WAR on the U.S. and commit themselves and their followers to the destruction of our country and the slaughter of its citizens we should take it seriously, accept the challenge they have laid down ,declare WAR ON THEM, and KILL THE ENEMY. After what has just happened to our country and its citizens how can we do any less?????

Southam News
One hundred days after the horrors of Sept. 11, the worst banalities mouthed in response still have astonishing currency.Chief among these are that "violence doesn't solve anything," and that the leaders of the free world should instead negotiate a resolution to the crisis we face. These are absurdities. International terrorism and violent cultural clashes cannot be responded to in the same manner as schoolyard bullying or sibling spats. Reasonable though it may be to caution squabbling children that "violence doesn't solve anything," it is not a sound basis for public policy.
No civilized nation would have violence as its first or chief response to the world's complexities. But neither would it properly secure its citizens, nor even likely survive, were it to be so mindlessly non-violent as that aphorism urges.Only someone non-violent to the point of pathology would not ever resort to physical means even to protect her children from assault, or his home from murderous intruders. To say otherwise is to lie.
It is true that in the world's history, many nations have resorted to violence too readily, and too often. But it is foolish to view the carnage of Sept. 11, to witness the mass murder of thousands of innocents, and suggest that violence in defence of further attacks from the same mad perpetrators is not appropriate. Can there be any doubt that those behind these immoral acts, and those who have now been seen on tape laughing about it and celebrating it, would do the same or worse, again and again and again?
Perhaps we can make airplanes safe from hijacking, at great expense and great inconvenience. But can we really protect our free societies from such madmen? Do we prefer to become police states in our own defence rather than stand up to madness? Is it difficult to imagine these same twisted minds plotting to poison our water? Our food? Our air? Imagine them plotting to blow up 1,000 school buses full of our innocent children. Imagine them sending suicide attackers into our daycares.
We cannot protect ourselves only through security measures within our own society. There is no recourse but to hunt down and capture or kill those who would commit such atrocities, whether they be in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Gaza, India or living among us in the West. Those who train their young men to embrace suicidal martyrdom while themselves hiding in caves to avoid it must be defeated.
Companion to the mindless chant of non-violence is the idea that we should negotiate our way to safety, considering the root causes and motivations of the terrorists. This is equal nonsense. No historic or current grievance, no cause, nothing, should be allowed to convey the slightest legitimacy to terrorists or their actions. Consider what the sponsors and celebrants of the Sept. 11 massacres have stated as their goals, their view of a better world.
"Kill all the Jews and Crusaders [Christians]." "Destroy America."
Shall we invite such madmen and their rogue organizations to Geneva and serve them tea while debating these objectives and whatever grievances they claim give rise to them? Perhaps our emissaries could suggest that we will kill only some. Let's pick a number, and negotiate from there. Shall we ask for volunteers? We could offer to destroy only Nebraska and Iowa, and toss in California should the negotiations bog down. It is not these suggestions that are trite; it is the sophistry to which they are a response. The civilized word cannot negotiate with hate-filled psychopaths. They, not America, must be destroyed. They, not more innocents, must be killed.

* * * This may be a good argument to quite the peace marchers. Ask them if terrorism is a hate crime. 'They' have gone out of their way to try to convince the world that there is no room in this society for tolerance of crimes against ethnic groups or individuals due to their sexual persuasion. The people they say they support were certainly among the killed and injured during the recent attacks. Shouldn't the criminals that performed these hate crimes be brought to justice and punished for their crimes? They killed and injured many for their citizenship, religion, ethnicity, etc. Shouldn't they be marching for justice in response to theses hate crimes instead of burning candles and trying to understand why the terrorists are so unhappy?

This is more fallout from the Vietnam era. In my view it is because of these groups and their movement that we are in this situation today. I truely believe that if the outcome of the Vietnam war was different than the way it turned out, we probably wouldn't be having this conflict today. The lesson to be learned from this in my mind is that anything less than total victory is too high of a price to pay and NOT how much the war is going to cost, etc. etc.
