On the attitudes of conservatives and liberals toward the American people…

When I look out across the country I make an assumption that we are populated by a country where the majority of the people are decent and good and trustworthy. We can count on them, they're reliable, and when they're needed, they'll show up. We look at the people of this country optimistically. We look at our future optimistically. We look and see a country of people who can take care of themselves and who want to, who are self-reliant, who want to be self-reliant, maybe in some cases even rugged individualists. We don't see anything wrong with that. The one thing we don't do is look out across this country and see a majority of people that we look at with contempt. We do not think the majority of people in this country are predisposed to evil or bad behavior or rotten behavior. We don't look at the majority of these people having to be controlled. We don't look out over the country and see a bunch of incompetence and ineptitude. We don't look and see a country filled with people who don't know what's best for them. We do not see a population that is incapable of doing the right thing. Quite the opposite.

On the Sandy Hook Elementary school shooting, and coming liberal efforts to politically exploit it…

A terrible and awful thing has happened in Connecticut at a school in Newtown, Connecticut, I'm told. A shooting at a school, 26 people dead, including 18 children. It's just awful. It is terrible, incomprehensible. But I'm gonna tell you something. As we sit here at this very moment, you know it and I know it, there are liberals trying to find a way to blame this on conservatives and Republicans. It may sound a little hard-edged to say that, but I've lived through these things for 25-plus years.

On the Left’s complaint that Mitt Romney intentionally paid too much in taxes to make himself look good politically…

The first claim was he didn't pay any. Now he's paid too much. You cannot win. You cannot satisfy these people, and therefore it is a mistake to try unless your objective is to illustrate who they are. But if you're really trying to please 'em, if you're really trying to get their approval, if you're really trying to shut 'em up, you never will and it's foolish to try. Look at the charitable donations. Romney's taxes are all legit. Nobody's claiming he broke the law. They're saying he paid more than he should have. And, again, isn't that what we've been hearing rich people should do? It's the patriotic thing to do, for crying out loud.

On one key difference between liberals and conservatives…

If a conservative doesn’t believe in God, he doesn’t go to church. Period. He doesn’t tell YOU that YOU have to stop believing in God. A conservative doesn’t chide you for going to church. A conservative doesn’t call a member of Congress to make Church illegal. But a liberal does that. A liberal, in fact, wants any mention of God and religion silenced. If a liberal doesn’t believe in God, doesn’t believe in religion, then there can’t be anything anywhere that reminds that poor sap of religion. They’re just that way. If a conservative doesn’t like a radio show, he changes the channel. Liberals, if they don’t like a radio show, demand that the show be shut down. And if the show isn’t voluntarily shut down then they try other avenues to get the show shut down. Whatever it is, [that] liberals approve of, you have to, too. They’ll harass you, they will harangue you, they will beat up on you, and a lot of people cave… just to get them off their backs. Politically, too. This is what happens to the Republicans, in Washington. I’m convinced.

On social conservatives…

Social conservatism has led to victory in presidential elections. It’s the dirty little secret that Democrats know and the media know, and it’s why the social conservatives … are so despised. They’re also despised on principle. But they’re also despised because there’re so many of them. And they’re thought to be hick, hayseed idiots, who believe every syllable in the bible and how stupid can that be in their minds. And they vote Republican, and they’re anti-abortion – every ingredient necessary for a liberal Democrat to hate somebody the social conservatives have.

On Democrat proposals for a new tax on millionaires as a way to fund job creation…

Washington has nothing to do with job creation. As we’ve seen in the last 2 ½ years what Washington does is destroy jobs. What Washington does is put obstacles in the way of economic growth that would lead to job creation, particularly Washington when run by Democrats and liberals. Aren’t millionaires the ones that hire employees – is this a good time to start punishing them?

On liberal media doyen Tina Brown’s criticism of Obama as being “unready” for the Presidency…

In Obama’s defense, let me say something here. Ms. Brown, how dare you attack Obama, he’s given you everything you want. He’s destroyed the private sector. He has upped federal spending, he’s got this country in debt three generations full. I mean for crying out loud Ms. Brown there are sperm cells in infants who have already seen all of their lifetime income taxed, spent. And they haven’t even met the egg that’s gonna fertilize the baby that’s gonna pay all those taxes. The sperm cells have been – for three generations out. All their income has already been spent and taxed. You got your healthcare bill. You got Obama owning a couple of car companies. I think you people on the left oughta be ashamed of yourselves. This guy has done exactly what you wanted! You know why they’re mad? You know why they’re mad? The polls! They’re mad because of the polls. They’re mad because the American people don’t like all this. They are mad because what’s happened is they have been made to realize that they are in the minority. They are made to realize that while in New York and Washington they may rule the roost, and they may think they’re the cat’s meow, they may think that they run the show, but nation-wide they are a distinct minority and this country doesn’t want any part of what they believe or have to offer.

On Standard & Poor’s downgrade of America’s bond rating.

So Democrats, let me ask you, are you happy now? You finally got your hope and change. I said that I hoped he would fail. And this is exactly what I meant. But, from your perspective, from Obama’s perspective, he hasn’t failed. He’s succeeded beyond his wildest dreams. And now look where we are. How many of you saw the movie, Planet of the Apes? … Remember how that movie ended? Colonel George Taylor on a beach, Statue of Liberty halfway buried, New York City doesn’t exist. Charlton Heston as Colonel George Taylor – “You did it. You finally did it. Damn you all to hell, you did it!” That’s how I feel today. That’s how I felt all weekend long. Damn it to hell, they did it. Obamageddon. That’s what we have witnesses since Friday. Obamageddon. Barackalypse Now. The only silver lining I can find is that as far as 2012 goes, Obama’s a debt man walking. Anybody want to tell me he’s not landslidable now?

On the political views of President Obama and the American electorate.

Folks, do not believe anything you read or hear that Obama is unbeatable. He is a man further and further isolated from the mainstream of this country. And if there were a smidgen of mainstream media reporting along those lines it’d be over for him now. Of course there won’t be, they’re circling the wagons for the guy. Twenty-four percent of the American people – likely voters – 24% say their political views are about the same as the President. That means 24% of the people in the country are socialist/liberal. We have not lost the country, folks. It is only being made to appear that way. But we haven’t.

On the futility of Republicans and conservatives seeking media approval during the budget battles.

If you go into this with, "Oh gosh we can't shut down the government, oh my God, what are they gonna say about us if we shut down the government," – well the answer is, they're going to say about us the same thing as if we don't shut down the government. They're still gonna say whatever they say about us because we are conservatives. And if you don't like that, become a liberal. If you don't like what liberals say about you, the only cure is to join them. Because it's never going to change. And there's not one action you can take, that will make liberals say nice things about you. And the more you try to manage what they think and say about you, the more they own you.

On Obama's accusation that Paul Ryan's budget plan is not courageous.

Obama said nothing's easier than solving the problem on the backs of the poor. That's not what Ryan has proposed. Ryan has not proposed solving the problem on the backs of the poor. This is another cliché from the liberal handbook. What about this folks? What about promising programs that you can't afford, using money from kids not yet born? There's nothing easier than that, if you ask me. There's nothing easier than promising programs to be paid for by people who aren't even born yet who thus don't even have a chance to object to it. What kind of courage are we talking about there?

On Medicare reform, liberals, and the media.

What do you expect to happen, when we announce a plan to reform Medicare? You know that the Democrats are going to demagogue it. You know that it's gonna happen. You know that the media is gonna do everything they can to destroy anybody and everybody behind the plan. Because all they care about is winning the election.
