On the reaction of video gamers to revelations that Obama’s NSA is targeting online gaming networks...

But the takeaway is, the gamer community, if I can call it that, this is a serious bunch of people. They take what they do here very seriously. They are into this, and the idea that Obama would be spying on them, that's a tipping point, folks. They're already upset the NSA is spying on 'em anyway via Apple, via Google, via Facebook, if all that's true. They can't believe Obama would do that. He was Mr. Hope and Change. Obama was gonna stop that kind of thing. It was Bush that did that stuff. And now here's Obama doing it, making Bush look like a piker.

On the passing of Nelson Mandela…

There are very few people that could have undergone what he went through and maintained any sense of dignity or optimism. Most people who had been through what Mandela went through would have spent the rest of their life enraged and bitter and angry and would have tried to get even.

On Senate majority leader Harry Reid exempting his own staff from Obamacare…

The people who wrote Obamacare, the people who promoted it, the people who are out there actively trumpeting this law, are the first ones to exempt themselves from it. They're the first ones to demand subsidies to help them pay for it, when they earn $175,000 a year.

Mark Belling is filling in for Rush today… On the Affordable Care Act, otherwise known as Obamacare…

It's so ironic that they dubbed this thing the Affordable Care Act, which is the name they now use. They don't want to call it Obamacare because it's got a bad stigma. Well, the Affordable Care Act doesn't help them. It becomes a parody calling this thing that's going to be more expensive for everyone the Affordable Care Act. It's almost like they're ridiculing themselves.

Mark Steyn is filling in for Rush today… On actor Alec Baldwin losing his show on MSNBC for using an anti-gay slur…

So because Alec Baldwin used a gay slur against the paparazzo, MSNBC fired him. I happen to agree with Baldwin on this. The idea that you can be fired from using a slur in your private life? The right ought to be very careful about this, because the left is trying to shrink public discourse.

On the healthcare.gov web site’s state of readiness…

Well, here we are, folks, on November 27th, and the real turkey is nowhere near ready yet. That's the Obamacare website. In fact, it isn't gonna be ready on November 30th. They said it would be. They said it'd be fixed and then they said it would be ready for 80% load, and now they are saying that it's not gonna be ready on November 30th, and Kathleen Sebelius is now saying that she never said it would be. So we just dreamed all that.

On President Obama’s new agreement between the U.S. and Iran that relaxes economic sanctions on Iran in exchange for their promise to scale back their nuclear program…

And who can blame people for being confused? Only a month or two ago Obama wanted to go to war to destroy Syria's weapons of mass destruction. And now Obama has Iran, who are Syria's masters, given them the green light to go ahead with their own weapons of mass destruction program.

On the practical consequences of the abolition of the filibuster rule in the Senate by Harry Reid and the Democrats…

The Republicans may as well not vote. Their votes mean nothing. The people that elected them have absolutely no representation in the Senate at all, other than their senator maybe getting to participate in hearings and ask questions of witnesses, you know, whoop-de-doo. It just means that the Senate no longer does advice and consent. It's simply consent.

November 20, 2013

On the number of people who have signed up for health insurance at Healthcare.gov…

You know what the real number is of people who have closed the deal, actually clicked "purchase" in their shopping cart in that website? It's 27,000, total. It's 27,000 people, and you know who they are? The vast majority of 'em are seasoned citizens. The people that the Regime needs signing up are getting nowhere near it. Young people who are not gonna be making a lot of claims because they're healthy, they are not signing up. It is an absolute disaster.

On liberal activism in sports journalism…

Do you really think that the Billy Bobs and the Joe Kidds and whoever that are watching Sunday Night Football want to be preached to about gun control at halftime? No, they don't. The Doritos and Beer Crowd doesn't want to be preached to about anything at halftime. They want to see the highlights, they want to see the game, and they want to be left alone.

November 15, 2013

On the changing fortunes of the Obama presidency…

The magic is gone from Obama now. He does not have the ability any longer to get away with things that he did, certainly in his first term. Now, he's not changing the way he's going about anything, and Obama doesn't think he's in any trouble, but there aren't nearly as many people being bamboozled, fooled, madly in love with Obama.

November 13, 2013

On Senators Ted Cruz and Mike Lee and their attempt to derail Obamacare…

I want to take you back to Ted Cruz and Mike Lee a month ago. They were trying to warn people what was coming. They were trying to get people back then to delay this, to defund it, to prevent this that's happening from happening. They knew it was coming, as did every other elected official. Everybody in both parties knew this was coming, folks. Do not doubt me on this. Everybody knew.

November 11, 2013

On Obamacare… and liberalism...

Nobody will sign up for Obamacare unless they're forced to, and therefore everybody is going to be forced to. That's why there is an individual mandate! You have to be forced, otherwise you wouldn't. Even they know it. Even the Obamacare people know it. Nobody would choose this. That's the whole point of liberalism. You don't know what's good for you. They do. You will never do the "right" thing. You won't spend your money the right way, you won't donate to the right people, you won't support government enough. They have to take your money. They have to tell you how to live. They have to tell you what you can and can't eat and what you can and can't drive. And they have to tell you how big your portions can be. This is who they are, folks.

November 8, 2013

On Obamacare…

Americans had to lose their health care plans in order for Obamacare to work. There was never any intention for anybody to keep their current plan. The only way Obamacare could work, as designed by Obama and the Democrats, is precisely because people would lose their plan. It had to happen that way. The only way Obamacare could work, the only way Obama could reform the health care system the way he wants to reform it is precisely if everybody lost their plan.

November 6, 2013

On the GOP establishment and tea-party conservative Ken Cuccinelli’s narrow loss to Terry McAuliffe in the race for Virginia Governor…

They didn't want him to win. This is the dirty little secret. I don't think it's even a secret now. I'm telling you, such is the animus toward the Tea Party in the Republican Party establishment that they are perfectly comfortable with a Christie win and a Cuccinelli loss because to them that's a Tea Party loss. So now the Republican establishment can run around and claim the Tea Party is an albatross around their neck.

November 4, 2013

On the fighting spirit of the Tea Party…

The Tea Party wants to fix things. They want to beat back Obamacare. They want to beat back some of this spending. They want to get rid of some of this debt. The Tea Party knows that in order to do that, Democrats must lose.

November 1, 2013

On President Obama’s claim that you can keep your doctor and your health insurance plan under Obamacare…

I think Obama's lie about keeping your insurance may be the biggest lie ever told by a sitting president. This is not an error. It was not a mistake. This was a calculated, purposeful lie -- and the mainstream media carried his water on this until just last week.

October 30, 2013

On what it will take for Republicans to defeat Democrats politically…

The only way they can be defeated is to understand their ideology. If you do not understand their ideology, meaning their liberalism, meaning their devotion to Alinskism -- if you don't understand that -- you're never gonna be able to beat them. If they're just a bunch of incompetent Democrats, for example, you're never gonna beat 'em. Not if that's what you think they are. Not if they're just a bunch of well-intentioned, "Oh, God, look what they're doing!"

October 28, 2013

On the shock many Obamacare supporters feel when their own health insurance policies are cancelled because of Obamacare…

You're damn right I'm mad! For five years we have been telling people the truth about Obamacare on this show and elsewhere. For five years! You know what? The problem is, these people own it. I have no sympathy for 'em, but the fact of the matter is they have doomed this country with their stupidity, with their blind loyalty and their stupid hatred of conservatives drummed up by a media that knows what it's doing.

October 25, 2013

On the political impact of the failures of Obamacare…

A lot of people getting these cancellation letters are people that voted for Obama. A lot of people getting their cancellation letters are people that believed him, that their premiums are gonna go down $2,500, and that their access to actual health care was gonna increase. They believed all of this. I think there is already -- it's just not reported on -- I think there is already a level of rage and anger out there over this.

October 23, 2013

On the ultimate unworkability of Obamacare…

How is a system gonna work when the doctor doesn't get paid, when the pharmacy doesn't get paid, and the patient doesn't think he or she has to pay? How does that work? And the answer is, it can't.

October 21, 2013

Mark Steyn is guest-hosting for Rush today… On the necessity for Republicans to offer an alternative to Obamacare…

As disastrous as Obamacare is, if Republicans don't have a sane model that regular people can understand without all the mumbo jumbo stupid jargon, if they can't come up with a system without 'doughnut holes,' then people are going to be fleeing and clinging ever more fiercely to the Big Government nurse.

October 18, 2013

On Senators Ted Cruz and Mike Lee and their supposedly grave tactical errors in combating Obamacare…

Mike Lee and Ted Cruz, they did run for election, and they did win, and they campaigned on getting rid of Obamacare. So they went to Washington and they did exactly what they were elected to do. The people that elected Mike Lee and Ted Cruz are very happy. Finally, candidates who campaigned on an agenda went to work on it when they got to town. This is what's expected of any candidate who gets elected on a specific platform.

October 16, 2013

On how the American people at large will learn the truth about Obamacare…

The Democrat Party and their buds in the media have lied to the American people about Obamacare. They have purposely kept from them the truth about it, and they are going to learn the truth simply by living their lives and doing what the law requires them to do. They are going to learn the truth about it from the actual interaction with it, not from hearing somebody tell them about it that they might not believe.

October 14, 2013

On how well Republicans understand the nature of today’s Democrat party…

When are the Republicans going to understand, and I'm dead serious about this, when are they going to understand that the objective here is to wipe them out. When are they going to understand that the pure, the only purpose of all of this is to effectively eliminate the Republican Party as anything viable, nothing more than a placeholder is all it's going to be if Obama and the Democrats get their way.

October 11, 2013

On criticisms of Senator Cruz -- from Republicans -- that he is knowingly misleading people by promising something -- the repeal of Obamacare -- that cannot possibly be achieved...

My question is, "Why isn't that said about Obama?" You want to talk about misleading people and setting them up for major disappointment and shock? How about a guy who's promised people will "get to keep their doctor," and they don't. How about a guy who's promised that their premiums come down $2500, and they won't? How about all the promises Obama's made with his stimulus and all the shovel-ready jobs? None of it's happened. How come the same standard is not applied to Barry? How come it's not said of Barry that, "Oh, God, what a mean guy! He's really using us. He's setting people up. He's promising all these wonderful things that are not possible really, and they're going to be so disappointed." Why is that not said, folks?

October 9, 2013

On President Obama's press conference yesterday in which the President excoriated Republicans for the partial government shutdown...

That press conference that Obama did, it was juvenile. It was something that a spoiled rotten kid would do. It was petulant. It certainly was not presidential. He called that press conference for one reason: to use the words "hostage," "bomb thrower," and "extremist" for an hour. That's why he did the presser.

October 7, 2013

On the long-term financial and social crisis created by Democrat-supported entitlement programs…

You've got 90 million Americans not working. Ninety million not working. Some of them are lying about disability… They're faking a disability because they've run through their unemployment. We have made it profitable and productive to not work, the Democrat Party has. Now all of a sudden on a dime you turn around and say to these people, "Guess what. Your only hope is to go get a job." I just wonder if it can be done, if the debt can ever be repaid. I don't think it can.

October 4, 2013

On Republicans holding firm politically as the government shutdown continues...

If Republicans would just stop enabling that bullying and intimidation by stopping being afraid of it, there would be a sea change. That's what Cruz is demonstrating, if you ask me, fearlessness, and look at how they're reacting to that. They don't know how to deal with it. They don't know how to deal with people that aren't afraid of 'em. They don't know how to deal with people they can't manipulate or bully into shutting up and going away. There's a lot to learn here, folks – a lot to learn.

October 2, 2013

On the terrible performance of the Obamacare exchanges during their first day of operation…

If a private firm spent billions on internet infrastructure, saw 25 locations fall apart within minutes of opening for business, the entire team responsible would be given walking papers. Immediately. Heads would roll, no questions asked, no excuses accepted. Because in the business world, results are what matters, not good intentions.
