The
Gospel According to Bill Clinton
Forgiveness:
Democrats want the American citizen
to forgive Bill Clinton for his indiscretions and let him get on with
the nations business. Yet Bill Clinton changes the definitions of his
apology by the day. He said he was sorry he misled the American people,
but has added that he didn't lie under oath. He apologized for an inappropriate
relationship but said he did not have sex with Monica Lewinski. I watched
Clinton lie before the Grand Jury to have him now say that he did not
commit perjury. Will someone please tell me exactly what specifically
President Clinton has apologized for?
He seems to be sincerely sorry for something
he did. He apparently wants me to forgive him for some vague sexual
indiscretion that really wasn't sexual as he defines sex. He is sorry
for misleading us while under oath and yet proclaims that he did not
commit perjury. He wants forgiveness, but is vague and misleading even
in his request for forgiveness.
As a Christian, I can forgive. Indeed,
I am commanded by my Lord to forgive. But for what? I have no idea as
to what sin for which he has asked forgiveness.
Honesty:
Can you picture George Washington telling
his father the following? "Okay, I admit that I committed an inappropriate
action toward the cherry tree, but I did not chop it down." Or
George Washington saying, "I can not tell a lie Father, but I will
mislead you."
Do you remember the Democrats back in
92 saying, character doesn't matter? It is the character of the presidency
that matter! More double speak, the character of the man is the character
of the presidency. Nothing Bill Clinton says has worth anymore. He has
depreciated his credibility and integrity as a man and as our president.
Actions have
Consequences:
If a man became a Christian the day
after he got a speeding ticket, would he still have to pay for the speeding
ticket? True or False.
To the Democrats the right answer depends
if the violator is a Republican or Democrat. If a man commits a crime,
then apologizes, he must still be tried for the crime. Even if Bill
Clinton admitted to perjury and abuse of power, he should still face
the penalty of the crimes. Even if the nation forgave him for his crimes,
he must abide by and suffer the consequences of his attempt to obstruct
the very laws that he literally swore to uphold.
Laws are a necessity. No one should
be above the law. We as a self governing people should expect our elected
officials to preserve our laws by living by and enforcing our laws.
Accountability:
The nation's business is upholding and
enforcing the law. Bill Clinton has failed as our president. Having
oral sex with an intern in the oval office is disgusting but isn't impeachable.
Committing perjury and abuse of power is impeachable. Bill Clinton's
sins are between those he lied to and God. On the other hand, Bill Clintons
crimes are between himself and the Constitution.
Bill Clinton's legacy is his dishonesty,
his great lack of self-control and moral character. He has brought a
terrible shame on this nation. I can only hope that the American voters,
Democrat, Republican, or Independent, raise the standards of our future
leaders. We should expect more from our leaders. We should require that
they are not only gifted in the political arena, but who are genuinely
good folk.
